NGETOS TEMPLE WHICH FROM NGANJUK
Not far from Lor in Nganjuk there is a unique red brick temple, commonly known as Candi Ngetos. The name Ngetos comes from the village where it is located. This temple is predicted to be a place of worship for King Hayam Wuruk of Majapahit. However, the history of Ngetos is not clear enough. There are many conjectures and hypotheses regarding its existence.
This temple experienced looting and destruction, both by nature and by humans. Even though Ngetos Temple is a record of enshrinement at the end of the Majapahit golden age. Ngetos Temple has undergone restoration by the Dutch, which unfortunately until now there has been no further restoration action from the government for its preservation. The material, namely red brick, is porous. Kirtimukha was also destroyed, even though the kirtimukha at Ngetos Temple is unique. Ngetos Temple has a shrine and is not far from the river, so it is very likely that Ngetos was a sacred area in the past.
