🤣 that is basically an orca smaller (false); the false is used interchangeably because of the size, but make no mistakes that is more aggressive than an orca 😅
No, i know where you are coming from. But no, Giger didnt design it after a whale like animal, more like a fallic object. Gigers world is very perverted and dark.
@knightpersival49 I would expect they would treat you the same way a dolphin treats you. I doubt a human has ever been attacked by these dolphins. More than likely, they are curious about humans. I'm not saying they couldn't harm a human if inclined.
The thing is animals like these along with dolphins will follow the fishing boats which sucks since you have to keep changing spots since they will spook the fish away.
They probably passed the boat on the way to the new hunting area. Someday, they will be called false welfare whales because they will become fat and lazy looking for handouts.
All dolphins are technically toothed whales, rather than baleen. Therefore people are right to say that Killer Whales are indeed whales. However the looks that people give me when I say “did you know Orcas are dolphins?” will never cease to surprise me
ONE THING I HAVE TO GIVE TO THE SHARKS, SHARKS TEETH GROW'S THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFETIME. WHEN ORCAS LOOSE A TOOTH, THAT'S IT. I GUESS ORCAS DON'T KNOW ABOUT TEETH IMPLANTS. 😊
It’s bc killer whales are most closely related to dolphins than what people image when you say “whale”. And many would argue there are remarkable differences, in agility, for example. For the layman, they are more like dolphins.
Indeed! In terms of patronizing someone,it's nearly indistinguishable from the linguistic staple "Damn, thats crazy". When I drop a "damn that's crazy",I'm very rarely looking at the person and, even rarely-er, (new word) can I tell you what the person was even talking about lol
It would drown...^^ Do you know any African air forces worth anything? Now half of South-Africa's air force is grounded because they can't even maintain the planes...
@@Italdo8 "In A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, every dolphin on earth leaves the planet right before the word is explored. They left a note saying “So long, and thanks for all the fish.” What they also did, which not everyone realizes, is also save all of humanity from destruction, by moving everyone to a parallel earth." From article in Medium "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish" by Zachary Forget.
All dolphins are whales but not all whales are dolphins. Orcas are technically classified dolphins, which does make them whales as well, but they’re dolphins first and foremost.
Yeah had to laugh at that. It isn't like these animals evolved in an environment where sound travels 5 times faster and hundreds of times further. And as much as I like Joe, they're probably smarter than him too.
Killer whales are in the dolphin family. Fun fact, false killer whales are named that way because of the shape of their skull being similar to killer whales. But their behaviour is much closer to small dolphins than killer whales.
I don't think many people realize that killer whales are part of the dolphin family. I've known for a long time, and it's always kinda irritated me for some reason that people don't know that just because they're called killer whales. Especially when you see these false killer whales and your like, "hey look, that thing looks like a cross between a dolphin and an orca! That's so cool. Wonder how that works!" It's simply evolution.
It’s actually a wolphin a male killer whale mixed with a female dolphin makes that a story is that a orca and dolphin were in captivity and bred and made this her first calf died but the next batch lived
They’re not quite in the endangered zone they’re between least concerned and endangered/threatened. They are very friendly but unfortunately if you are fishing they snatch the fish you hooked right off your line
They call me “false.” They pretend that I’m a lesser version of something else. That’s a big misunderstanding though, and that’s why we’ll never see eye-to-eye with you false monkeys who call us that. False monkeys, do you appreciate being called that? That’s what I thought. They call us false killer whales, but I don’t think there’s anything false about us from the perspective of the tuna that we kill. From the perspective of our daily bread. Nah, man. This naming other species ****, man. It’s ****** up. -falsely mcwhalington, AI language bot interview, August, 2036
Yes I have. They’re pilot whales(long fin/short fin pilot whales) but are called false killer whales as a common name. They’re apart of the dolphin species just like orca. Orca are actually terrified of pilot whales since they hunt in HUGE packs, sometimes a couple hundred together. They also have the ability to mimic the sounds of orcas which is a great strategy to hunt the sea wolves(orca). Sadly because they’re so close to one another, many pilot whales will follow the most dominate whale and the whole pod will beach themselves and even if rescuers reach them in time and turn them around into the ocean, many times will swim back onto shore and beach themselves again. The ONLY way to prevent this herd mentality is to split the whales up and drop them off somewhere far away from the pod and HOPE they both don’t *A)* swim back to the beached pod or *B)* have the knowledge and wisdom of a smaller and likely more inexperienced pod to find food and safety in the ocean. I wouldn’t be surprised if sonar from deep sea fishing vessels/military or oil drilling vessels are causing them to beach to escape the horrible noise. Those sonars used at the front of the vessel creates a HUGE sound blast and are so powerful that the water in front of the sonar will actually boil. Its like an underwater tsunami effect amplifying the sound as it ripples through down to the ocean seabed. Its so Very sad. We as humans are the worst kind of animal on this planet and sadly I think its in our nature to be driven by our ego, greed, our propensity to war with one another and lack of empathy. 😢
I was spearfishing off the coast of Sydney, Australia a few years ago and a pod of about 3 or 4 false killer whales came up to me. Scared the absolute shit out of me. I couldn’t get my heart rate down so had to get out of the water. Spent the next couple of days reading about them and watching nature docos on them. Still obsessed with them a few years later. Beautiful creatures.
@@leahmurray666 nope. You can’t spearfish in any of the estuaries or inlets, and a lot of the bays are protected. But the government has a map of areas where it is legal to spearfish. And pretty much every headland on the northern beaches of Sydney is zoned for legal spearfishing👍🏼
@@Mxxnmuki know for Pink dolphins all my life but i never heard about false Killer whale and im watching animal documentary all the time. Its not Like New insect
Not sure how he got it but my grandpa left me one of those things teeth, a sawfish saw, an ostrich egg, and peacock feather. He was a teacher and had all kinds of weird stuff to show stufents about nature. I still have it and am going to leave it to my son someday
Still is, the FKW probably thought how nice of these humans to offer us food on a string. So easy and convenient, and you can't blame an animal if YOUR presence makes life easier for them.
Killer Whales, Orcas, actually flee when their sonars detect Pilot Whales. Probably one of the few animals on this planet that they don't mess with, since their pod sizes sometimes can exceed 100 members. They even stop communicating with each other so the pilot whales don't detect them, and swim in the opposite direction.
Fun fact for those who don't know: Both Orcas (Killer Whales), and False Killer whales are not whales at all, both are actually giant dolphins. In other words, Killer whales are the largest, smartest dolphins in the ocean. EDIT: let me clear something up. TECHNICALLY, they are all WHALES, falling under either toothed or baleen, however, when you see a dolphin, you don't say "hey look at that dolphin that's technically a whale" do you? Of course not. Just like when you go to the mall, you don't say "wow, it's ALOT of apes here today" of course not, people technically fall under apes just as dolphins fall under whales, but in every day life, we do not call dolphins whales. So to all of you technical people who have to ruin the moment with your "matter of fact" personality, YES YOU ARE CORRECT, TECHNICALLY THEY ARE ALL CLASSIFIED AS WHALES.
@@maxpuhl832Dolphins aren't whales. Both dolphins and whales are part of the same infra-order : cetacea. Dolphins and killer whales are part of the same family : delphinidae. Whales are part of the balaenopteridae family.
Imma False Killa, swimmin4my dinnah, and I’m gonna get bigger when these hoomans take me with ‘em.ugh ugh I got sharp teeth like a killer whale, but I’m super friendly and about to get paid, this is a stick up, gimme all your fish, silly fisherman, this is My crib! Ugh.
Killer whales are a type of dolphin. This is also a type of dolphin. Pretty much any sea mammal blowhole carnivore that has teeth and isnt a sperm whale, is a dolphin.
And to be clear, dolphin is a general classification, not a taxonomic one. All dolphins fit within several families that are all apart of the same superfamily(Delphinoidea, the largest group of toothed whales). But not all families within that superfamily are dolphins. The families that dolphins are in, only have dolphins There are are whale/dolphin hybrids. This is possible because dolphins are whales. Orca are the last remaining species of the last remaining genus, of there subfamily. Just like humans, except the physiological/evolutionary gap between us and our closest living relatives is far greater than it is for Orca.
Upon rechecking my information, classification is a bit different, its a little more organized(idk when they reorganized it, but the reorganization seems to still be contested). All of the extant families of dolphin are now subfamilies within the family "Delphinidea". There is still a family(which several subfamilies) of closely related whales(they are the closer to dolphin than anything else and potentially share a single common ancestor to Delphinidea). This family is completely extinct, but if it was still around, the species within it would most likely have been referred to as dolphin. The family is "Kentriodontidae". So modern dolphins do actually fit within one classification(albeit a contested one).
