if i were Shen i would have disarmed Jhin with a simple "NOW YOU WILL COUNT EACH OF THOSE BULLETS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE A MULTIPLE OF FOUR!" there, Jhin is subdued
This comic proves how 1. Shen is either semi-smart? semi-stupid?, he figured out that zed wouldn't kill master kusho but never thought of kusho already having thoughts of agreeing with zed. despite zed leaving clues. 2. How a bro kayn is.
i mean this could all be a huge twist we never really get to see shens thoughts as much a we do of zeds. I am pretty sure shen has an idea. But one thing is clear they still care for each other
personally to me shen seems more naive than stupid. through the comics it was shown that shen was much more of a gentle giant type. even kusho said zed was more like him than shen. It just might be that shen simply didnt expect his beloved father to do something like that.
@Anzu Wyliei Because the Kinkou, or rather Shen specifically and the shadow order need to fight for the sake of balance. And if Shen knew that Zed never killed his father, Shen wouldn't have a reason to fight Zed anymore, which would disrupt the balance of good vs evil.
@@kipras1412 Thats because he stayed stuck inside a tomb or w/e it was with xerath for a very long time and was driven to madness. Hes not dumb, rather he is completely insane.
HurricaneX31 he trapped himself and Xerath in a collapsing tomb. He wasn’t as sharp as Nasus, but at least he saved Nasus and a lot of Shuriman civilians from Xerath. But hey, at least we have the bloodthirsty maniac crocodile with a glaive the size of Olaf now that he had a chat with Xerath in the cave.
SirDragon001 I agree more with Skyen though I could see some reasons lore-wise why they would do it. Still, I incline to agree with Skyen, it undermines Zed’s character.
MajinVenix why is it that when I play Jhin I have always sometimes intentionally missed shots just for fun. Didn’t know it was a thing Jhin ACTUALLY does lorewise. XD
The last message was the most important though I think, reaffirms Zed and Kayns parental relationship and they both see each other as father and son. Really wholesome Kayns character development
Necrit skipped over that a bit, i always thought of kayn as just a bloodhungry psycho who works for the strongest until he can backstab him. It completely changed my perception of the character
@@steps8140 Well Kayn's an interesting and flexible character. With the way his weapon works in-game and in lore. He has the choice to be selfish and succumb to the greed for power. But he chooses not too. I believe that says something about his character.
his father died, was hidden to be dead only to not be reveled to him when he actually died, and worst of all... he is not even the main character in his father's reveal
Not possible, RIoters have already confirmed that Jhin is just "4 years older than Zed," meaning that him being the father would be impossible in this case. However the fact that Zed was abandoned by his father at 4 years old is too coincidental to be overlooked... Something is definitely at play here.
This gives light to the character of Zed, Kay and Shen as well as Akali. • Zed wasn't really evil, but he studied Shadow Magic in order to protect Ionia. • Kayn's Loyalty to Zed, shows that Zed is an Amazing Master • Shen is too dense and naive to pick up clues that could've helped him discover the truth • Akali and Zed have similar principles when it comes to protecting Ionia.
Shen actually ain't dense or naive tf. But yeah this comic really wrote him off as one. When you look at the "Tales of Runeterra: Ionia" animation it really feels like an another character from comics interpretation.
The writer confirmed that Jhin left it there on purpose as proof of his escape from Shen and Akali. Said writer also confirmed that Jhin's master plan didn't involve Shen and Zed killing each other, or having him kill either one of them by his own hands as a means of revenge - but that his plan was to get Zed to reach his breaking point, so that he would finally kill off Kusho for good. Basically Jhin planned everything, including Shen and Zed's eventual team up, his (faked) capture and Kusho's murder. Jhin was the one who planned an end Kusho's corrupt rule and freed Zed from his master's abusive manipulation. Now Zed is free to rebuild the Order of Shadows in his light while potentially mending his ruined friendship with Shen (assuming Shen still stays delusional about the real truth behind his father.)
uh 'flips pages' How about a uh Gragas has his own tavern and there's a really drunk guy just being a total ass! and then gragas steps out, the man laughs at the 'fat ass running this joint' and they duke it out in a good ol bar fight! Gragas wins and the tavern cheers him on!
Something this comic did for me? Really made me love Kayn as a character more. He seems a lot more chill than when you see him originally, and the fact we get to see him being chill is just a nice change of pace from "dark edgy boi with scythe". I do kinda wish we learned a bit more about Rhaast though, but that might be later if they ever cover the Darkin/Vladimir in more detail. Surely the next comic series will involve Gragas and him drinking around the world to perfect his ale right? That's truly the lore we need right now.
Wait a second.... Jhin escaped death FOUR times... from Master Kusho, Shen, Camille, and Zed. This man is truly the greatest league character in the game
He already is I think, he is probably the shadow fiend if you check it's art it is almost the exact scene where he attacks zed, with the pillars and the other things
I'm so disappointed at Kusho's end. Like, just imagine if he nearly killed Zed, but then, Shen comes to his rescue and sees what his father had become. WOULD. HAVE. BEEN. GREAT.
Plus I doubt Shen knew where the Navori brotherhood or The Shadow Council is. Remember that Navori messenger? Shen barely knew any of the codes they spoke.
Wow ok. I'm really, really starting to like Zed and Kayn. The Master/Apprentice dynamic is something I absolutelly adore. So giving Zed and Kayn such a strong bond is so cool to me :D Thank you Rito! I can finally play characters for lore reasons now!
I really love the relationship between kayn and zed this comic makes kayn a really amazing character and not just a anime character looking edge lord and I really really love that
As a Kayn main, I get to hear his voice lines in-game, so seeing everyone "realize" that Kayn isn't JUST a bloodthirsty edgelord is really fun. Kayn skin soon please! Also more Kayn and Rhaast lore!
I'd honestly love to see the next comic being about Shurima fall & rise. I know there are a ton of stories explaining all of it however it would be so dope.
although, lorewise, Nocturne already exists (the Shadow realm is his territory) even before Kusho became that. just to point it out. edit: now that I think about it, maybe Noc needs a body to possess (like the demon that he is) to materialize in the mortal realm? and it doesn't necessarily have to be Kusho, anybody who taps into the Yugioh realm could either be his prey or host and if the current host dies he'd just find another. now that'd be nice and would fit his last short story too.
I would rather say that Kayn is Vader and Zed is Luke, considering that Kayn betrayed Kusho and Zed wanted to kill him all throughout the scene. Although that way around it doesn't fit that Zed killed Kusho instead of Kayn and Zed was originally on Kusho's side, but you can't make that last one fit at all if you're going with the Palpatine comparison.
I mean, Shen was too royal to his father to the point he become so dense and naive, if he find out the truth it would break his mental. Zed understanding this more than anyone else so he decided to let him find the answer himself rather than tell him the truth.
I still don't know how the fight between camille and jhin ended. Of course jhin survived, but seeing the awaken video makes me think only one wouldve survived. So I need to know what happened to Camille!
After this comic, i think in awaken series it was just a Jhin's mechanized puppet (or how did it Necrit called?), and Camille took it out. Because i dont think there is a solid reason how they both survived.
@@picapes The Jhin on stage was shooting and bowing down to Camille, too real to be a puppet. What happened is, the 4th shot Jhin was hiding on his back while bowing down blow off the leg that camille was going to slash jhin with. Camile lost a scissor leg but somehow forced jhin to retreat or more soldiers flooded the room which caused him to escape before he could finish Camille.
Easy way to revive Kusho, reowrok Nocturne into the soul of Kusho. After dying his mind and souls got anchored to the shadow realm and coalessed into the demon Nocturne.
Imagine if Zed was loseing the fight and suddenly Shen comes. They don't kill Kusho becouse he escapes and this way they can make him a real chempion. Also the interactions between them would be great. Shen and Zed will finally be friends which i would love. Also give Shen some love
I like how Zed has been given the Itachi treatment in a way. Forced to disgrace himself in order to protect the very group that once embraced and now hunts him. I hope that one day Shen comes to realise the truth but for now this really changes the way I perceive Zed
I think soon enough we’re going to get some more lore on Jhin revealing his backstory and his obsession with the number 4. Like, we’ll find out that Jhin was actually Zeds older brother. For 4 years Jhin lived happily with his family as an only child but the year that Zed was born the family was met with misfortune. Thus Jhin despised Zed and saw him as a curse. So since Zed ruined jhins life at 4 years of age, Jhin wanted to ruin Zeds life at 4 as well. So Jhin pulled the strings behind Zeds abandonment. But when Jhin saw that fortune again found Zed through Kusho and Shen, he became obsessed with studying his brothers life to find ways to ruin it. If something like this were to be revealed, it’d have to be revealed through them removing Jhins mask, uncovering a face that is strikingly similar to Zeds with white hair, leading into Zed suddenly remembering everything. That’d be wild.
I also really liked the twist! Everything Zed did made more sense b/c of it. Instead of straight up killing his master offscreen, he tried to find another alternative. He's a good man who's willing to do the minimal of bad for the greater good / maintaining the balance. ^_^ Side note, love the master and teacher relationship between Zed and Kayn and how loyal Kayn is.
The twist is awesome and only adds to the lore and Zed's character. What truly happened to their master was always hinted to be very mysterious and it always struck me as odd from my very first time reading Zed's lore. This comic has done an awesome job of fleshing out Zed, he was great before but a bit of a one note edgy assassin- Now he feels like a real human being with regrets and mistakes, but also his own man with honor and ideals.
I bet that when they rework Nocturne, they'll do what they did with Pantheon and just push Kusho to be part of Nocturne in some sense (at least to the level that he will speak in his voice lines or something), because having that kind of interaction would be so worth it.. as long as they don't mess up the demon theory crafting by making Kusho full on replace Nocturne like Atreus took over Pantheon...
Comics I would love to see Taliyah comic, Xerath could be a villain. Katarina and Talon comic. Jinx comic Kassadin and Kai’sa, villain could be Malzahar I’d also love to see a LeBlanc from the past, that could explain how she grew to power, however that would take away a lot of the mystery which is so important to her character.
One thing I dont understand.... "The eye of twilight sees all" .... How did Shen not know about all this already :( AND why all this had to happen with Shen.. the good son :( ALSO ZED. I feel bad for both Shen and Zed. But as a Shen main... I feel more for him more :(
Start of the first comic: "Though your mother gave you life, it is your Master who bid you to stand for a purpose. For this, you owe fealty." End of the finale: Kayn being a true bro
My man Zed has this rich and compelling lore along with his loyal bro Kayn in the comics while Shen is just... *hippity hoppity, your life is a misery*
Am i the only one to think this was a really lame twist? It feels like Riot is trying to push Zed as a "good guy" when in reality that was completely unnecesary cuz he sees himself as good anyways? Now they removed his own agency, he didn't destroy the Kinkou order because of his own decisions. This is such a stupid retcon.
Damn...... Me(few years ago):Watching a Zed theory that he's a good person . Yeah funny. Me now: Realy Zed was a truly good character all along and WTF is this plot twist (Kusho -bad , this was a prediction for few years ago where Necrit said that zed maybe a good guy(the theory was something like this if I remember well: zed did kill kusho then because he was corrupted) so yeah when I found out it was kinda weird).
Hi OwO/ greetings. I posted a comment regarding this issue of mine in the last comic as well but I doubt anyone will see it since the last comment there is about 4 weeks old lol. My question if I may is regarding Kayn. I was under the impression that he didn't yet steal Rhaast but it seems I was mistaken. Glad to see Zed has no issue with Darkins lol. But Kayn takes out Rhaast and he turns ... ,, corrupted? '' my question is, is Kayn using magic to hide the corruption? Or that's just how it is and if for example Aatrox was to become Tryndamere's sword and Tryndamere was to just put him down he would return to his normal ,, shape'' or if Varus was to place down his bow to pee or something the two hunters would just die because no darkin holding them together.
Can we just appreciate bro-Kayn? (or son-Kayn... whatever) I already liked Kayn but after this, I love him. What an amazing relationship they have going!
This comic sucks. They made Zed (the popular champion that sells skins) the good guy, and Shen (the unplayed tank) the dumb weak dud. The old lore where shen and zed were rivals and they were both strong in their own way was better. This addition just made Shen feel like a side character that doesn't do anything
I wanna mention 2 thing: 1st is theory, when master kushu - turn to the dark side - I mean use all the shadow magic he became nocturnlike if you see the blades in his hands, maybe after he died he'll became nocturn and this what the lore will be updated when nocturn reworked. 2nd is about Kayn, how actualy my main, He has same power as Zed I mean shadow magic, imagine if he had "Shadow tattoos" like Zed, He'll look more badass.
After reading that comic I thought, in that order: "Fuck Kusho" "Shen and Zed deserved better than him" "Zed has my full sympathy" "Kayn actually likes Zed a lot, that's really cute" "I hope Zed gets a break later he deserves it".
