Your work ethic blows my mind! You work insanely hard, and we all support you. Thank you for the time you spend giving these victims their voices back.
Just finished your Tutankhamen video literally a minute ago and was looking for something else to watch now!!! Perfect timing! Anyone else like before they’ve even watched the video?
Georgia, Thank you for doing this video. I had heard of this many times but never understood what happened. The other videos I watched, the creators didnt do their research like you did. I was always more confused after watching. When I first saw the title I rolled my eyes and said Oh brother here we go. I'm very glad I did watch. I only watched because it was you. YOU finally told what happened in a way I can understand. I still have 10 minutes left to go. I just had to pause and Thank You. You're the best Georgia Marie!
Georgia- I would like to suggest that you could do the history of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus.) Also, are you aware of the mystery (fact or fiction) of Picnic at Hanging Rock, Victoria Australia? Love your channel and Merry Christmas! x
What if they had lost the box like you had mentioned, but the light house keepers didn’t think they would be able to pay the fine because of it, so they killed themselves to prevent getting blamed?
I’m ashamed to say I first thought that was a gay innuendo, what with big moustaches, but of course you meant the wind was high and the men got blown off.....hang on.......
Thank you, Georgia Marie, for doing what no other true crime RU-vidr I know about has. You didn’t sensationalize what happened at Flannan Isle. You just told the facts as you found them. You did rally great research into this too. Very impressive. Most RU-vidrs emphasize that there was no storm reported in the area around the time they disappeared. You cleared that right up. You also brought something to the table I had never heard about before. That one of the lightkeepers had been fined and dinged in his personnel file and was most likely outside that day to keep from getting another negative review and fine. Thank you
yes! too many youtubers jump straight to supernatural explanations, like kendall rae, which can be fun but it gets so boring after a while and usually makes no sense
Katy Forsythe, I enjoy Kendall Rae too, and many other True Crime RU-vidrs. But, Georgia Marie, That Chapter, and Eleanor are my favorites. They don’t b.s. around, dwell or spoopy theories, or waste time with extraneous exposition. I wish I could find more RU-vidrs like them!
Fun Canada lighthouse fact! The lighthouse keeper position in British Columbia is at a critical low and my family along with many of our family friends were actually offered positions as being lighthouse keepers! We all turned it down, but I can't help but think how cool living in a lighthouse would have been
Cool! Great video. I speak Gaelic - just a wee note to say that Eilean Mòr is pronounced ‘eel-an more’. Just think about eels and you’ll get it right! If anybody wants to learn Gaelic, try the new Duolingo course.
Brian Boru They are quite similar - if you speak IScottish Gaelic you can understand quite a lot of Irish, especially Ulster Irish but Connacht and Munster Irish are a lot harder for us. But they are different languages.
Georgia! I’ve missed your videos so so much, I’m a med student and this semester was the hardest of my major, I lost a ton of weight and won a ton of anxiety, and I had to stay off of RU-vid, but on Monday I passed my hardest class and I’m finally on vacations! That means I’m catching up on all of your videos ❤️❤️
Omg! Thank you so much for covering this mystery! It's one of my favourites! I was on holiday on the Isle of Lewis for 12 days back in July and I absolutely loved it! I visited the little Flannan Isles memorial and the Flannan Isles exhibit while I was there. For one of your history videos, you should look into the 'Land Struggles' that happened on the Isle of Lewis in the 19th century. We were staying on Great Bernera which is it's own little island separate from Lewis, but still part of the Isle of Lewis. These Crofters' Wars led to land reform and an act of parliament being implemented. There are monuments all over the areas where it all happened, I visited a few of them :) x
Did not know this one. I do think it was probably a large wave as well makes sense that you would race to help your colleagues even in terrible conditions. Poor things. Here's to you making 150k subs soon 👍
Ive always heard it as 'EE-LAN MOR' and Oban is pronounced 'O-bin' not correcting you, just thought you might like to know! Thank you for yor videos Georgia!!!
I’m fluent in Scottish Gaelic! It is really hard to explain how it’s pronounced through writing but it’s kind of like eh-lan. It translates as isle or island. I’ve known about this case for so long as I have family in the Isle of Lewis and me and my brothers would always come up with our own theories. So excited to see you do this case!!
I like that you do more then just modern crime. I’m a huge history buff and this really peaks my interest. Also you look very beautiful, keep up the good work.
As soon as I get the notification you’ve posted a video, I’m all of a sudden that crazy, happy camel from the GIECO commercial... “Mike Mike Mike Mike, guess what day it is? ... Hump Dayyy” !!! 😂🥰🥳
I was bored, so I went to check out if you had uploaded midweek mystery, and sure enough it was uploaded 6 minutes, so glad and can’t wait to watch this!!!! ❤️
Makes me think of the line from the movie Sabrina: “What kind of man takes a job keeping a light house?” Someone who wants to be alone and does not enjoy other people, but then they’re stuck with people they may dislike. Could be a case of someone snapping and having a fit of rage. Then kills one man, the others try to help, everyone is killed because they’re a witness and the killer disappears.
Could you please think about doing a video on Laurie Ann Hill from Swanton, Ohio. She went missing in October 1985 and was later found beaten and murdered. It was in an extremely small town. I was a senior in high school at the time in the town. She was a couple years behind me. It totally changed our way of life from then on. We were afraid to walk alone after dark and always traveled in groups. They have never found her killer yet they have a suspect. Please think about it. I absolutely love the way you cover the cases. Thank you.
Every time I hear about this case, 2017 movie Cold skin pops in my mind. Whole vibe is similar to me Also it is kinda funny that I always watch new videos on this case, maybe in hope for new details, new perspective 🤔 Your video definetely gave some new information
You actually look like a Georgia lol. Do you get told that a lot? That's not an insult or anything, just an observation. Nice work, by the way. Others on youtube only seem to be bothered repeating the story as they heard it from other youtubers.
The only unexplained bit is Macarthurs dissapearance. Two guys don waterproofs go to the west landing and get washed away. Macarthur gets washed away without puting waterproofs on, weird.
The history just got lost is the more interesting story But it reminded me of the book series Annihilation. It's a pretty good read and probably the best story I've read in the past couple years
I have always loved lighthouses. I used to think only one person lived there and just pressed some buttons. I guess it was more work. But i've always wanted to live in one. So much solitude and peace if u are the only and just keep the light on. And have internet. Great story! ❤️ Very likely they either abandoned their posts or were abducted by aliens. I'm not saying it's aliens but... It was aliens.
I am Italian, living in the US. We don't really have any traditions other than getting with family 💞 But apparently in some areas of IT they have the Bufana insteadof St. Nick. It's interesting, check it out. And others, instead of having a tree 🎄 they have a ceppo. It's a 5 level, 3 sided pyramid. Each layer represents something different and its topped with a pineapple. I wish I could post a photo.
"Imagine 28 day shifts" Never heard of sailors? They often just have a day or two on land before having to go back to sea for another month My dad is nearly 60 and hes now like a month on and off at sea.
Hey Georgia! Great video! I have a case that I think is interesting. It’s the case of Jane Wallis Burrell, she was the first CIA officer to die on the job. It would be really cool if you could tell her story!
I’m so glad you decided to cover this case. I have heard it many times but never knew there was a poem and I bet you’re right - people have taken bits of that (really eerie) poem and assumed then as fact which has made this story a lot more creepy than it really is. So thank you! ❤️
I agree with the big wave theory, but if I HAD to come up with an alternative theory, I’d say maybe one of them had a case with cabin fever (or stir-crazy), killed the others, disposed of the bodies and killed himself. Sticking with the accident theory though, much more plausible.
I'm surprised pirates weren't mentioned as a possible theory... I've always had an obsession with lighthouses..I'd love to convert one into a home..but keep the old charm..you'd also have the best view!
RU-vid took down one of Kendall Rae's videos. RU-vid doesn't support the true crime community at all. I'm scared true crime RU-vid isn't going to be around much longer. We need to do something. That's why I made a petition. Maybe if we come together we can show RU-vid what they are doing is wrong. Please sign this petition to support these amazing youtubers who deserve so much better ❤️ chng.it/fctYVKhS
The government of Canada website states that some lighthouses are still manned for operational purposes. Apparently the purpose of lighthouses includes: •Sound fog alarms •assist in aerial navigation •provide weather observations •maintain radio communications •offer search-and-rescue services and sanctuary •issue tsunami warnings off the North Pacific coast •"keep the light" - shining a beacon to mark dangerous coastlines, reefs and shallow areas and guide ships to safe harbour I assume this is because Canada has the world's longest coastline so there's probably a lot of rural places where it's more feasible to have a person manning the lighthouse if something goes wrong or someone is lost and help or maintenance is days or many hours away.
Ockham's razor is fewest assumptions, not the simplest explanation. It seems pedantic but it actually does change the results. A simpler explanation with more assumptions violates compared to a more complicated explanation with less assumptions.
That note from the captain sounds a little strange. He said a dreaded accident must have happened. How did he know there was an accident. Sounds like strange wording.
Interesting story & great coverage. Not getting too excited, but in the photo you put up with the three men standing together, I can see another man on the left hand side of the photo, behind the first man's shoulder, maybe the place was haunted & they ran in fright!
i’m actually from scotland and i’ve actually learnt about it in school, we actually were made to do a essay on the topic in english and focused on it for nearly a month learnt a lot about it, you’ve actually covered a lot more than my teachers and had a lot more of a stronger view than they did as they actually said it was fiction, it was nice to hear this since all my class suggested aliens so...
There is a theory of “super waves”, rare phenomenon little understood but reported around the world that could have swept the men away as outlined in the video
I have never heard the facts behind this case! This was very interesting and I appreciate knowing the story behind the legend. You always do brilliant work.
I want to throw out a theory the may or may not be what happened but possibly one of the men killed the two others by throwing them off the cliff and then throwing himself off of it as well?
Nice work, but it would have been much more interesting had you mentioned the detail of the log book. In some re-tellings I have come across, (Ask a Mortician, and Mr Ballen, just to name a couple), the log book chronicles days of terrible weather prior to the vanishing. The dates of the storm do not align with recorded weather history, which was indicated to have been quite calm. This obvious contradiction makes the story much more of a mystery.
Oh WOW what a fascinating case. How does this not have more views and engagement!? I feel like I've found some secret gem of which others aren't aware! I do wish I had a platform to spread the word of these fascinating stories curated & expertly narrated by the amazingly well-spoken, intelligent Georgia Marie :) Please, pllllease don't be discouraged by such videos having lower engagement - they're SO GOOD 😍
Here's my penny. I think the weather was much much worse than people imagine. I have personally not been able to find anything about the official rule of having one keeper in the lighthouse at all times, but it's clear that was absolutely the case from sundown to sunrise. Records show at least one had been fined for storm damage previously. With that on their minds I believe they were doing their best to do damage control on the afternoon of 15 December. The weather had cleared some that morning and perhaps two (Ducat and Marshall?) decided to assess the situation. Something may have driven the Occasional, McArthur, out after them as it was his "wearing coat" (a coat that wasn't waterproofed?) that was left behind if I remember correctly. Maybe he had a better view of a bad turn in the weather and in trying to help they were all washed away in a wave that took them too far for anything to wash ashore? Or, maybe it was aliens. Would be nice if a penny stretched as far as my comment.
My mind is blown 🤯 I have heard this story many times from many different RU-vids and everything thing they had me believing about this case you have just debunked. I’m shook.
Thanks Georgia! I have heard the sensational (well, actually false) parts of this story many times. I'm very glad to get to hear what actually happened. Well done!
Just want to say I really enjoy your content and appreciate the effort you make into these videos! I love true crime but now I find myself really into history! I can’t wait to see your Channel grow next year ❤️
I love this video so much I am obsessed with lighthouses and the way you tell stories is so captivating!!!! much love to you for always keeping me entertained when I need it Georgia
