Bro i was 9 yrs old, tryna find bigfoot and UFOs because i watched videos by the dozen showing them in SA with X files music blaring. Obviously they were mods but i didnt know any better, and the videos were believable 😂. They were a key part of early 2000s youtube. Thanks for sharing
Ah yes, the memories. Like Curb Your Enthusiasm which is a mid show but has a very iconic theme, X-Files theme was what added so much atmosphere to these videos.
I'm a grown ass now - skeptic of a lot of things, consumer of all things horror, tech-savvy and well aware of the poor code void of any actual cryptids. Yet, San Andreas game video footage late at night still kind of makes me feel uneasy and I love that.
I remember shortly after GTA San Andreas came out for the PS2, I saw rumors on the PlaystationUnderground message boards that bigfoot was in the game. My friends and I spent hours and hours hunting for bigfoot by air and by land in the console co-op multiplayer. Even though the rumors weren't true it was still a lot of fun. Glad you're covering this fun little fragment of gaming history, back when gaming still had a little bit of mystery to it. Between that and the "Hot Coffee" controversy, I'm not sure which one was crazier.
Bigfoot was what got my interest playing it as a kid. I couldn't care less about the Hot Coffee Mod lol. I also spent most of my time in the game (probably easily hundreds upon hundreds of hours) looking for bigfoot and other strange things in the more remote parts of the map
Great video. Just have a few things to add: For the ghost cars myth, while the myth originated from the fact that these cars would often spawn on a slope and thus roll downhill that people mistook for self-driving, the legend exaggerated this by claiming these driverless cars could "come alive" and attempt to run the player over. In fact, I don't know what channel it was, but I once even saw video of what was likely a mod of this occurring. As for San Fierro, there's an actually existing ship horn that can be heard during heavy fog at least in the original SA. Moreover, I personally remember experiencing it during my playthrough of SA all the way back and the nearby pedestrians appeared to start panicking when the horn was sounded. I personally found that experience fairly creepy so I feel it could've been an honourable mention.
I too absolutely remember the video of getting "chased" by the ghost car. IIRC it was staged in SA:MP (good times) and cropped so you didn't see any of the UI elements.
@GTAVictor9128 FUN FACT: The “ship horn” heard in SF during foggy conditions, is actually the fog horn(s) on Gant Bridge! They are very closely based on the real Golden Gate Bridge horns, and the sounds are even emitted from the actual locations. The Lower, louder horn from the base of the first tower, and the higher pitch quieter horn from the centre of the bridge span. The more you know 💫🌈
Cjs breathing gets louder in the crack palace because of the stealth mechanic. When you enter shadows you become hidden, and it notifies the player by your blip on the radar getting dark, as well as cj taking a deep breath.
I’ve always liked looking into the various myths and urban legends in games like San Andreas. With how big the game is, it’s not a surprise there are as many myths and urban legends as there are. Great work man, take care!
Fantastic video all round dude. The editing throughout this entire video is fantastic especially for a video that is 54 minutes long. Astonishingly enough the colour correction you applied to the gameplay actually made the GTA SA Definitive Edition look much better. Commentary was excellent and kept me engaged all the time. Love all your myths and urban legends videos but this is one of your best to dates.
8:45 after vice city, rockstar actually planned on making an open world zombie game using vice city's assets. eventually the project was cancelled and they went on to release san andreas instead, perhaps Zombotech is a small nod to the cancelled game
Im firmly under the understanding this all was a result of youtube. People in the early days of youtube would do anything for views in the pursuit of clout rather than money, and GTA SA being the most recent GTA to release when YT started building steam made it the ideal target for this kind of myth making. That Rockstar made such a complex and interesting world made it the perfect storm for this sort of thing. An interesting cultural intersection if ever there was one.
I swear i saw a UFO in Bone County. I remember it clearly. It was on a PS2. It flew by overhead and was gone really quickly because of the very limited view distance. I know there is no UFO model except the one from the Lil Probe Inn, but it would be technically possible for the devs to hide it in code without leaving a trace in the Game files. And it would be the perfect Rockstar prank to make it such a rare occurance that no one would believe the players who actually saw it.
@@MaxiFlanagan nothing i would consider crazy, apart from that UFO sighting. It looked similar to the one at the Lil Probe Inn, but IIRC it had red circle on its bottom side. But it was gone in a Split second.
Sorry I didn't see this reply. That's pretty cool , was it the original or definitive and could it have been a glitch or do you think it was probably real and is there a way you found it, it would be cool to find it
@@MaxiFlanagan This was over 15 years ago on an unmodded PS2. I wasn’t trying to look for it or trigger it or anything. I just drove along a road and it randomly speeded past overhead, like a really fast airplane. I think it happened south of the radio telescope but i‘m not entirely shure.
There are 2 possibilities: 1. The Andromada plane which fly highest and fastest in the game, even faster than the hydra 2. There are balls of light that also fly very high and fast which I think was intended to simulate planes when looking from a distance. You can boot up the game with noclip mod to verify this
A blockbuster video game like GTA:SA that emulates real-life iconic places provides people the opportunity to myth hunt on their own from the comfort of their own homes. Doing so in real life is very time consuming, uncomfortable, expensive, and fruitless.
Just imagine how many Urban Legends and click bait videos are gonna appear as soon as GTA VI releases "next year". 😹 I can just see it now, an hour after launch; "Found Trevor washed up on Vice Beach and he opened a way back to Los Santos. Not click bait, very real." 😹😹😹
A note about the headless man is that there is a glitch that allows CJ to walk around without his head. You just need to activate co-op mode and have player two decapitate him with a katana. Once he respawns he'll be headless.
11:38 funny you'd mention that, as the Epsilon program is thought to be headquartered in the farm near Blueberry. Blueberry also glows baby blue at night, which is the epsilon cult color
I used to watch these GTA ghost investigstion videos when I was younger, a lot of them ended up with a jumpscare of a jpeg picture of a scary ghost from a movie with a loud ass stock scream sound effects lol
when i was a kid i was terrified of going to Back O beyond because of all those modded videos i watched, not understanding what a mod was when i was a kid lol. the place still freaks me out a bit cause of that
40:28 talks about the lil probe inn which is actually based off a real location called the lil a’le’inn in Rachel nevada near area 51. The pictures on the wall are similar to the pictures in the real life location but we weren’t allowed to film inside the building.💔
Great vid Fizhy. I got this game when it was released in 2004. To be honest the only myth/rumors i heard of growing up playing this game was Leather face/Texas chainsaw massacre myth, piggsy from manhunt, the ghost car which i found randomly before i heard about it and big foot.
A biscuit...or two? Sir, if I wish to demolish this pack of bourbon creams I absolutely will 😂 All truth, great content as always dude. I never really got on with Rockstar games from a gameplay standpoint...or rather, I didn't have it in me to get to the end because I kept distracted by doing anything else in the world 😅 But, I always liked the stories, and especially the wider world dressing, so, it's nice to get a rundown on these things 😊
Why are you using the definitive edition when it's supposed to be a nostalgic rewind about the myths we used to believe many years ago? But still a good summary
45:50 those body bags are most likely the doings of the mafia, There was some media released by Rockstar in which they show some mafia members there taking care of some corpses. It is most likely the corpse of the sindacco family guy who would have run the caligula's casion but Salvatore asked the sindacco guy to get rid of him.
If it's the farm I'm thinking of the one with the Harvester you have to steal for Truth all the enemies that spawn during the mission use Sniper Rifles and I think that's where this myth originates.
The only one that i’ve ever encountered is the sniper in Red county…i never saw them however i went on the farm and was immediately shot and killed by what sounded like a sniper. It only ever happened once and no matter how many times i went back it never happened again
Yooooooo perfectl timing!! Il be watching this very soon! I was up till 5 am last night playing GTA San Andreas misterix mod for ps2 hahahahaha finally got to see bigfoot on the ps2 console.
I remember when I was about 15 or 16 I tried to add one of the publicly available Big Foot mods to GTA SA, and it ended up breaking the game causing it to crash upon loading up. I think I considered screencapping it and posting it to RU-vid at the time if it worked, and I believe I had to reinstall the game out of frustration when it immediately broke it. Even more frustrating considering that I had a bunch of other mods installed on that copy. Ahh ... good times.
You don’t need a mod to see the headless man.. I remember shooting npc’s heads off and having em run around back in the day.. a glitch for sure but it’s in there.. or it was idk about now.. it’s been fifteen years since I played this game.
has it aged well ? no, but to be around back then. it was thegame. You see that car? You like it? Throw the npc out onto the cold hard ground and take it, it's yours . we also got boats, bikes, planes, helicopters, if its not a scrapyard crane you can drive it. even tower cranes! the world was huge and varied for the time, though it looks tiny now.
I wonder if GTA San Andreas was one of if not the last bastion of games where people just... made shit up about it. Rumors and myths persist in other games to this day, but it really feels as though every square inch of this world had something that someone made up about it. I only played San Andreas for the first time a few years ago, but I was so hooked on those myth videos that the X-Files music still makes me think of people looking for Nessie in SA.
I guess it's just my luck with the shark then, had no idea they were rare. I was horrified of sharks as a kid and hated going in any body of water in a video game where you could encounter them, and ran into one very early on. I ended up grinding up my lung capacity in a swimming pool when the game required you to do so.
back in the day this showed me how deceptive the internet can be not knowing about mods back as a kid i legit fell for these kids now days can mock me but back then as you said the internet was not as founded as it is now so you had to take the word of mouth and try to see if its real. at that point after seeing all of this i did enough to get all three islands and made cj a cryiptid hunter lmao i miss these days of gaming
There is. I don't remember its name, but I once actually played a SA mod that put these myths and legends to life. It was something like Mysterix or Mythemix.
It got delisted from steam when the definitive version came out but if you look through steam reviews you might find a direct link to it. Same happened with the original Skyrim.
@TheBigG2000 I thought I found the original gta trilogy on the Rockstar site, not the definitive edition one. So I was confused if they added back the originals that way.
Are people that gullible that people were able to create obvious mods and pass them off as myths and urban legends, or just straight up say stuff without any evidence to support their claims, and people just believe it?
Actually, I'm pretty sure bigfoot IS in the game. Or at least he is in the "remasters." Cause I was watching a youtuber play through the remasters one time, and he actually did come across bigfoot. And this was right when the "remasters" came out, so this guy wasn't playing with mods or anything. And this was on a livestream, so it's not like it was edited or anything. "But rockstar said he isn't in the ga-" yeah, well Rock Star can always just lie. I mean Marvel constantly denied that Tobey and Andrew were in Spider Man: No Way Home, but then we all found out the truth.
@@JimmyJames10-k7v Yeah...about that. I don't know if I wanna send you a link to ANY of the guy's videos. Cause as it turns out....the dude was a kid diddler. I found out like right at the beginning of the year. Sucks cause I was literally rewatching one of his streams when I found out. Really sucks, cause he was unironically like the only streamer I actually watched. So idk if I wanna be sending you to watch any of his content. I don't wanna support him anymore. But I am pretty sure he did kill bigfoot on one of his GTA streams.
well once in the PS2 i was in a bike wheeling, hit a wall and was teleported to the outter ocean and had to spawn a Vortex to go back to land.... is that a Myth? or a 1-99999999999999999 odd bug? xD
I really wish I could get the OG San Andreas on my PC but steam no longer has it on there. If I could get it I’d love to play it because the definitive edition is just meh.
Going on a 4 and a half hour flight so imma download this using Newpipe and watch on the plane as I'm a poor idiot that can't afford to pay €18 for wifi
Yeah I suppose on the one hand that is a wasted opportunity but sometimes I think the myths of old games are best left as is, with that ambiguity that keeps bringing people back. Blowing that out the water would have been risky. Not that the remasters paid off either way.
@@Fizhy I sort of agree with you. But other times games popular with the 3 ps2 games that they would at least put more effort to them like adding more features. Like the ability to swim like Vice City Stories or add more guns or cars since the game came out years after 5 did. But with Grove Street it's like how Christian Whitehead kinda ruin the Sonic series with the Sonic Origins and Sonic Mania on steam (Non stop crashes is ghey). Plus I replayed the original pc version of SA in 4k and it looks like a ps4 game later on in the game.
@@DrSpaceman42 I didn't say anything about Data mining though? Data mining has been standardised as a process on computers since 1999, data mining isn't also limited to games, it handles all data. But it probably wasn't until the 2010's that it was widely used to probe video games. This is all according to the internet btw. But regardless, gaming talk was mostly by word of mouth or by gaming forums online. Myths and rumours could gestate because nobody could disprove it. Nowadays that isn't possible, every single thing is documented with video proof, and data mining and file exploration can easily prove or disprove everything. Plus gamers are just way more aware of the process of gaming, and many more people watch RU-vid and interact on things like Reddit which even further removes mystery from games. I stand by what I said, you had to be in that era to understand. And you may have responded to the wrong comment?
@@Hyper_Gogeta yeah dude I was agreeing with you. There’s less mystique around video games bc of stuff like widespread data mining, videos etc. I was 15 when GTA:SA came out btw I remember the good old days
@@DrSpaceman42 Ah okay, my bad. Curse text messages, I thought you were implying that I said there *were* data miners. I'm stupid. That era truly was special. Shame that nobody born today would ever get to experience something like that!
