Gotta respect Napoleon for everything he did.

well. Minus the millions of unnecessary deaths he caused of course.... It's a bit lost in the nice animations and clean numbers, what his wars actually meant for the people. Massive wars like this are NOT a clean affair even if played by civilised rules (which his wars weren't). It caused enormous suffering to an enormous amount of people. And in the end- nothing changed. He should obviously be respected as a general. But beyond that is a VERY different story.

@@Thisandthat8908 Yeah I respect him for his military genius, but what he did for the people and france and of all of europe is disgusting. In no way was he a good man, he put an end to the revolution and started dumbass wars of imperialism just for his own ego and glory, even if it killed millions...

@diesunddas8908 @tristanpinto9431 Well imo it was the monarchies from all other countries in Europe that started these wars everytime. Napoleon was just defending himself (and his country to begin with, including the people in this country, even though there was his ambition at stake too, obviously), considering the best defense is attack according to military strategy of course, once again...also, he did try to make peace several times with the other countries, even when he already had the upper hand, but all he got was multiple stabs in the back, whether betrayals from his relatives or previously submitted european monarchs which just never kept their promises or any of the treaties, so...yeah. Just a matter of perspective, as always. EDIT : Oh, and of course, the Brits could just never allow others to compete with their own empire anyway, so as the winners themselves (with absolutely flawless ethic on their side, certainly, you know) they can't help but to find out any excuses to make losers the bad guys, whatever the context ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯ But honestly, I'd be inclined to consider let's say of a more greyish approach about this topic, by recognizing all the flaws on every side just like the brillant parts everyone was able to show time after time, only if the opposite side would be at least inclined as well to make the same effort, as matter of fair-play, needless to say...

@@Thisandthat8908 It's like you didn't even listen to the video... Napoleon, if you except the invasion of Russia, didn't start any of those wars so you can't put that on him. The first coalition wars was started by France, sure, but not by Napoleon who was a Junior officer at the time. "And in the end nothing change" Wut ? Reform education, agriculture, economy, creating the basis of law in the majority of western country, the disppearence of the Holy Roman Empire, creating the climate that will lead to the disappearence of many europpean monarchy... Sure. Absolutely NOTHING changed...

The coalition probably exiled Napoleon because executing him would make him a martyr to his supporters. They’d have to do this all over again.

That and back then monarchs were still operating on the Divine Rule idea, that the royalty were chosen by God to lead the people. Killing a monarch, even an upstart like Napoleon, would send a bad message to their own people that murdering monarchs might be a pretty okay thing to do.

Napoleon Must be one of the Most Fascinating historical figure. He is the most successful general in human history being almost 20 Victories ahead of the second most successful general. Fortunately he had something I like to call the dictator syndrome where he had to invade Russia and being screwed over by the winter

If you wonder why they didn’t kill him, it’s just that kill an European monarch chosen by “god” would open up a breach in other monarchs’s invincibility in the eyes of the people. They had to keep kind of a power balance

They could hardly have considered him "chosen by God", given the fact that he had styled himself as the champion of an anti-clerical revolution, had launched a military attack on the Papal State and in the end crowned himself emperor.
