Superbly done! Canadian here. My generation was taught to show the utmost respect towards veterans and to not take the freedom we have for granted. Thank you for your service.
This video is so beautifully done. I consider myself blessed to live withun 10 minutes of the National D-Day Memorial. I've attended countless ceremonies at the memorial, and even participated in one as a kid in elementary school. Even as a child, not understanding the full gravity of D-Day, I knew there was something different and special about the memorial. It's a feeling in the air... I have so much respect and admiration for the men who selflessly sacrificed themselves on that fateful day in Normandy. Lastly, thank YOU for your service!
Great video Jenn & Scott. Back in June this year my wife & I had the pleasure of being in Normandy & visiting the beaches of Omaha & Utah , St Mere Eglise , the American Cemetry & also visited some of the Band of Brothers sites. So greatful to have the opportunity to pay our respect to all that fought on D Day. Lest We Forget.
Veterans Day 2023 : Thank you for your service, Jen! My wife and I visited this venue in the spring of 2022. Outstanding video! Bill (USMC : 1986-1990)
Thank you for this moving video. God bless these men. I can’t imagine their feelings on the landing at Omaha beach. So many young fine men lost so quickly. So many families impacted. So horrible for the Bedford community upon hear the news of losing their loved ones. These statues and depictions remind us of the horrors of that day. So well done. As you state, we will remember them!
@@WalkwithHistory I will always watch young lady , I didn't think you would read let alone answer my comment , I had an Uncle who when the Higgins droped the machine guns from the Nazi got him in the front of his body and broke his spine lucky for him he never made it out of the Higgins at 19 years old he was in a wheel chair the rest of his life !!! Had he fell into the water he would have died from drowning , I love what you do keep it up young lady. This is the 2 nd video about WW2 this week that has made me cry. ( and I'm 69 years old ) remember my handle , cause I will always watch and like your work ,,, THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA !!!!
I love how Bedford has veterans pictures that have served in war on the lamp posts of the town. It is a very pro military town and has been ever since the Revolutionary War. This began to take hold after Saving Private Ryan came out. Neither Steven Spielberg nor Tom Hanks could believe that we did not have a D Day Memorial. Both men gave more than a million dollars each to help get the ball rolling, as it were.
My High School English teacher (Jefferson High) was Sargent 'BoB' Slaughter the person whose decades long efforts lead to the D-Day memorial..... He hit the Beach that morning........
I was lucky enough to know a D Day veteran who was sharp as a tack until the day he passed recently. He was 99. He loved to share his stories of D Day and his WW ll service. I’ve got most of them recorded. Some are exciting some tragic as he talked about watching friends die. He used to ask me every June 6 what day it was. I’d love to share his stories but a lot are raw and pretty graphic. I had them converted to dvd. I’d love to share them but I want to respect his memory. He has no family that I can ask. What do you think I should do Jenn?
That is awesome. Most states have a WWII Oral History Project where the collect the stories of WWII veterans. If you know his state of residence I would look it up and see if you can send it to them. Good Luck! That is important history that must be preserved.
