Did you even watch the video? He has spent thousands of dollars on some of the most famous sports cards of all time. Also, the experience of being at the National is just as important as buying cards.
Nice logic, @wave. Does that mean you never go to a local show or card shop because literally everything you could get there could be bought on ebay from the comfort of your basement?
Mike, your collection seems to get better and better with every video. I'm really happy that you were able to acquire these cards for your collection! The 1941 Play Ball Ted Williams is certainly an important card in a historic year for Baseball. I'm really enjoying the fact that you got a Sayers RC and a Gretzky RC which are absolutely fantastic! I'd love to get your thoughts on this National and how you'd compare this one to the others you've been too.
Great National update video, for us that can’t be there in person, thanks Mike. You do sound tired & I’m sure you must do a lot of walking around & that’s just to get in the building. But that’s when the fun starts & you’re a good conversationalist. Just remember, you have it way better hustling & bargain hunting than us folks watching on our iPads 1000 miles away. At the 4:29 mark, you film the 1907 rookie Ty Cobb card, with a hand written message. You discussed this exact postcard on last week’s Clearing the Bases episode. It’s listed for $150K.
Great pickups, Mike! Have you ever seen Barry Sanders 1989 Lions Police card? One of my favorite “alternative” rookie cards, secretly hoped it would’ve been on your top 100 list but I’m sure the Score is more enviable for most collectors. Enjoy the rest of the show, wish I was there!
Mike, was great to meet you yesterday. Congratulations on adding those big boy cards to your collection. The Gretzky rookie is on my list for 2025. Thanks for the shoutout, I am now over 1,000 subscribers! I appreciate it.
@@JunkWaxHero, it was funny that you showed up to the same table just after I purchased the Pete Rose rookie card, as you asked me to show it to you when we got to meet. 😂
Cool cards, Chris. 😉 Congratulations on getting the Ted Williams. The price of the Sayers, Simpson, and Sanders rookies sounded like a steal. Then that Gretzky! 🤩 Glad you are having a good time.
I remember when you used to swim in the shallow end! Stepping into the bigger cards to see! Good for you, that’s more fun and good investments too! Awesome cards, except for the OJ, I would skip that one.
Awesome pickups Mike! The Teddy Play Ball is my favorite for sure! Wish I could make it to the RU-vid gathering this evening, too much stuff to do after work and a 70 minute drive. But I’ll be there tomorrow, will definitely say hi if I see ya!
Great pick ups. That Ted Williams card in the same grade sold last month on Ebay for $1,750. So getting it for only $1,150 is amazing. I didn't feel too good when you showed the O.J. Simpson card. I don't like that guy. It was really cool that you got to see the famous ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. I would have gone to the National just to see them. I look forward to seeing what else you get this week.
Your 14 year old and your 56 year old subscribers, love the Ruby Slippers! If money was no object for me I’d have a tough time passing those up. In fact I can’t think of a more iconic pop culture collectible that I’d rather have! Congrats on your pick ups and thanks for the report! Continue having fun and tolerating your green cell!
Great pickups, love that Ted W PB. Incredible addition. I've been looking to add a Sayers RC for a while now. I sold my Sanders and OJ at the peak. Now would be a good time to buy back into those I think. Loved the video.
As I tell folks when they buy from me at a show (and no I don't deal in cards...well, at least no sport cards), THAT's what show are ALL about - the opportunity to buy rare items REAL time and see a lot MORE than you could ever see than scouring the internet with a million finger clicks....
One reason I didn’t go this year is last year. I didn’t have great luck finding 1971 PSA eight or better. I’m putting together a set for the last 30 years.. I was very disappointed. I cannot find a Reggie Jackson last year. I found one later
The Gale Sayers is my favorite that you picked up. Vintage baseball isn’t my thing per se. I like a few vintage baseball sets but for the most part if I’m buying vintage it’s football. Congrats on getting the cards you want. Hope ya get more tomorrow
@@mrapache10 I focus on vintage football too. Almost done with the entire Bowman run… but man, those SPs in 48 are tough! Need the Otto Graham RC still. 👍🏈
Great pickups! I love the Sandy. Probably my favorite vintage player! The Gretzky is very cool. I think I would want the OPC version, but the Topps version is great as well! Really nice adds.
Holy moly. I don’t check RU-vid for three days and the 1st two videos watched are from Mr Keating and you. Wozers. Unbelievable massive pick-ups. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Watched the day 1 video this morning while I was driving & couldn't comment. Sammy Thunder is a great dude & a Mets fan!! Great pickups!! Glad you could make it there.
Enjoy the national Mike, appreciate the updates, living vicariously through you...also, not you're doing at all, but I thought you should know that I'm tortured by the "Queen of Cackle" ads both before and after your videos...
Nice “Ted” is it weird that his names in quotations? Man the place looked packed Nice Kansas Comet pick up too. Gretzky rookie ????? Duuuuuuude it’s MY grail card No Way !! Hey Cleveland Rocks & so do you Mike !
If you spend $1,150 for a card that goes for $1,350, then the card goes for $1,150. ;-) Haha. In all seriousness, that's good negotiating. You don't have to pay what the last guy did. You can even offer more if you're within your budget and it pleases you. It's all good if you're paying your bills, first.
WOW... The asking prices on those Jackie cards are absolutely ridiculous. No way a '49 Bowman PSA 2 will bring $6,500. Have you noticed dealer prices being much higher (at The National) then other shows you've attended?
I like the shadow silhouette on the splendid splinter makes it pop, have never seen the george bush card in person and for 100K wow...did you see any t206 wagner.
Great pickups, What does Authentic mean? And what did ya pay for the Gretzky 3? And if ya don't mind, how much ya pay for the Koufax? I have 2 Koufax that are for sale, good luck rest of National
The Rocky Marciano and Gretzky are the two pick ups that I like so far. I live in Cleveland and want to go, but I'm low on funds and quit my job yesterday.
@@JunkWaxHero Yeah it is, I have other stuff lined up, figured the national would be a tease. Plus I'm only looking for three or four cards yet for my collection. Hope you have a blast man, stay out of the lake and the east side.
If you hate the Simpson card then you're really gonna hate the Nicole Brown Simpson glasses that she left at the restaurant the night she was murdered that I bought in an auction. It's the crown jewel of my Juice collection.
Glad the guy came down. $100 off will not kill him.... REally, with all the competition, I would think the buyer HAS "the say"...and not the dealer. Don't forget these guys are against the wall to make money and make this show profitable....
Pre-war all the way has to be the ted Williams. It's certainly a more😅 attractive card than the 39 playball, but once you reach 25k subs celebrate by getting yourself a 39. A rookie is a rookie
@@JunkWaxHero thanks, I’m just wondering with the proliferation of great raw vintage if there was any Correlation to EBays authenticity program for higher end vintage sales.
