"Hey, are you awake (...) Can I ask you about today?" Have this tattooed on my arm in memory of my grandfather. Wish I had the opportunity to listen this song with him.
I've seen The National live 10 times so far. Everytime they played "About today", it was the highlight of the show. This one doesn't make exception - pure magic!!!
I already the opportunity to saw them twice, this year was going to be the third one, in Rock in Rio, and the only thing that I always hope for, is for them to play "About Today". I'm so glad to see that im not alone in that "feeling". Big cheers from Portugal. Stay safe!
that "foregone conclusion" from matt, being a bit out of breath at 43:21 is one of my favorite tiny moments in thousands of little universes of favorite tiny moments you can experience in national live perfomances. what a band!

loving these. Sitting around on a Tuesday morning listening to bygone National concerts (though preferably new ones, maybe with them all playing together via some clever app or program...) is wonderful.
@@JoshLStuff A shame BKS disappeared. I used to watch it 3 or 4 times a week!! Lowlands was also one of my favorites. The one at Sydney Opera house is also good!
Nearly two years later and I still can't make it through a single Frightened Rabbit album. Gutted me good when Matt said it, too, and then the fucking song. Just destroyed
@@mattruppert403 Scott was such a wonderful 21st century poet and his loss is palpable every day. I loved their tribute to him here. There's a video of them playing the bandstand at Glasgow last year performing My Backwards Walk and dedicating it to him. Reduced me to rubble first time watching.
They’re the biggest reason I bought my ticket for primavera this year....doesn’t look like it’s happening but, at least there’s this set! What could have been :(
Hopefully. Last time we begged Scott (I think it was him? Initials S.D?) to make the others do something from the days of Alligator, and he came back shortly after and said he'd told the others. Hopefully they do.
I didn’t read the description until Terrible Love (presumably the last song..) but it just reinforces my love for this band. Keep on keeping on. Oh and Matt if your bag is at O’hare you ain’t gonna find that shit. Can’t imagine anything of worth being in your luggage anyway.. probably just a bunch of playboys, personal lubricant and some smidges of bad X. Re: COVID - God help us all through this.. BTW I was thinking that social quarantining/distancing/isolating during a global pandemic that’s being handled by clowns (clowns at best) is like the perfect setting for the creation of the next NTL LP. Get to work and stay healthy guys #IfThisIsItIHadABall
What's the big deal? You can see past concerts on RU-vid anytime you want. Don't they have a RU-vid Channel as well? Go to BBC Music6 at 5:00. They play the most diverse selection of Rock/Soul/R&B/Punk/New Wave/Techno/......than any other station in the world!
