Why invite these celebrities to push a button which does nothing? After they push it the draw master is pushing the real button. You see the draw master push the button to release the balls and when the draw is being started you see the draw master reach out and touch the machine in the same place again.
I think that the draw button sends a signal to the draw master to push the draw button on the machine; it was similarly like this in the early days of the lottery where the draw master would press and hold the white button on the remote and the celebrity would press the blue button to start the draw.
It's all smoke and mirrors. Like when the magicians assistant dances around the stage or the magician grabs a handkerchief and starts waving it around. The computer sees which combination hasn't been betvon and draws that.
Technically it doesn't do nothing, it just changes the lighting and soundtrack but yes it has nothing to do with the machines themselves. I think it's probably to do with the strict regulations around lottery draws
