I'll never understand the fascination with fans caring who reports what first and who hates who and etc. It's honestly worse than gossiping teenage girls 😂
Seriously. Especially draft and FA stuff. Like, tweeting X team is drafting Y player a minute before it happens. Just let me watch the draft. I do not care if you know something a minute sooner.
The offseason in getting pretty stale. They'll probably have to start the National Reporters Association. Bunch of reporters competing to be the slimiest, corrupt gossip queens. That league will have the worst fans as well as "reporters" like this cheese dick covering it.
Only college students and researchers give a damn due to "primary resources". That's the exact reason I quit college. The pursuit of these burnt me out.
Les be honest. The only reason Dan didn’t take the deal was because A. He didn’t wanna be the scapegoat for a dysfunctional franchise and B. He wants to threepeat for uconn
@@286micI don't even think it's about the money at this point, failing to make the Lakers succeed with LeBron is almost like a death sentence to a coach's career, JJ could always come back to Espn or do Podcasting again, while Hurley might be stuck at Assistant Coaching for the rest of his career if he fails
yeah I mean that's what doesn't make sense about this video hahah..I mean Dan got the first offer right? He was offered quite a decent deal at almost 12 million a year first time NBA..That's not like 2-4 million per year. This video doesn't really make a lot of sense because Hurley did get the first offer and just turned it down, then JJ came in..So...
@@brianlakeberg1768 I was thinking while watching and reading the comments doesn't anyone realize they offered Dan a contract that was actually higher than JJ's and that he was the first offer, I was glad to at least see this comment. He just kind of subtly but strangely downplayed every point that goes against his video..
I recall, WoJ also did this with Windy... Windy was right all along and has been consistent, yet WoJ insisted his sources was more accurate. I think WoJ felt threatened that his own colleague may get the spotlight in reporting.
Uh this is a pretty bad take, the timeline is off, if subject a says this is their main target, then subject b says no, its this person, subject b's person then turns down the offer, wouldn't that make subject b right? The Lakers targeted the Uconn coach. He had the initial offer, if he had accepted Woj wouldve been right?
Surprised you didn't point out that Shams is connected to Rich Paul, who signed Shams to United Talent Agency and is head of their sports dept. In fact, we're seeing a disturbing trend of Rich Paul trying to buy out the sports journalism market to do his pro-LeBron bidding
@@ZoraDelaneyI usually praise Casey for reports like this, but Casey didn't investigate the idea that just maybe, Shams Charania was actually helping Klutch Sports to pressure the L.A. Lakers to hire J.J. Redick. This video is heavily influenced by both the "Heat Check" exposé on Adrian Wojranowski and Casey's follow-up (featuring ESPN's Brian Windhorst) to that report several months ago. Obviously, Woj looks bad because he got burned in the past, but it's important to look at the facts objectively. The Lakers are NOT going to let specific contract offer dollar amounts leak to the press, unless they cannot dispute it. An offer is an offer, and if an offer was made to Dan Hurley, regardless if they low-balled him, it technically still means J.J. had not been hired yet. 🕵🏻♂️
Lol.. the fact that people are celebrating JJ. Redick's appointment to the Lakers is ridiculous. He may have been right, but the signs are already there that the lakers are on a downhill path.
At the end of the day, it backfires for the Lakers because Free agents saw that they weren't really serious on winning when they hired JJ. Also to say that they never needed Hurley is just stupid af.. It's the 6th largest contract EVER.. They tried to get him. Maybe not as enthusiastic, but they wanted him.. Yall reading this too far.. WoJ was not wrong they moment an pffer was extended..
As a journalism grad (though many years ago, and later working in publishing for 23 years, but where like many, you still write on the side and follow intriguing stories), this is the 2nd such, more than interesting, and rather revealing, story you have had about Woj. The other was on his ties / connections and their influence on his reporting. On this story, once again, the comments below are quite good: "Mean Girls: Reporters" and "both clowns". Also, while I am in Montreal, Canada, where basketball takes a back seat to NHL hockey and NFL football (Expos are no longer here, or baseball would be on this list as well), when talking sports with one of the buddies, your subject matter in so many of your videos is often my "lead sports story".
What the fuck is this guy talking about? Hurley got the first offer. Woj was right. "Woj tweeted Lakers choice is Hurley from Ucon. Hurley got a 70 million dollar offer that he ultimately turned down. How could Woj have been so wrong?" He wasn't wrong.
I wonder what would’ve happened if Hurley took the job even after getting a lowball offer. This kinda stuff is exhausting, non-basketball related. Glad I’m not a LAL fan
Dan was already set on resigning with UConn. Woj is a friend of Dan’s and this story gives more fuel for a major offer from Connecticut, also giving Rob Pelinka an out/excuse that he really wanted Dan instead of JJ. This would also corroborate the narrative that LeBron had nothing to do with JJ’s hiring. From the time the podcast started the head coaching job was JJ’s. This was ALL a setup.
A lot of people don’t know Woj used to be a sports writer and he wasn’t that good at it. These days he’s more known for tweets and breaking news than actually providing context and insight. I’m glad he found his calling.
Woj wasn’t wrong about the LAL, he was wrong about Hurley. Isn’t that the real story? Hurley (his virtual brother) rejected the offer while leaving Woj in the dark?
This isn’t even a stretch. At the time everyone was shitting on shams and couldn’t believe Hurley was going to be the coach. Woj fabricated an entire story just to make it seem like shams was wrong and they decided to take reddick after Hurley denied the job. And with the facts presented in this vid it’s clear shams original tweet was accurate and beat woj to the punch.
Only thing I can say about woj is as a Pole I see him sluring in polish after the shows because at first I thought bro is polish because he has name used on regular in poland and has polish last name
Im sick of any reporters on anything they are reporting to be narrative driven based on whatever outcome they want it to be. perception is not reality do your job
Wonder why AM hoops is afraid to make an honest video of why no body wants to go the lakers and play with LeGM? Is it Because we all know he is an under the table ESPN, Clutch sports employee like Gil Arenas and Nick Wright are! 🙄
This whole video is based on the idea that a six-year $70m offer was not serious? That offer was for nearly 50% more per year than Redick’s contract, and more than twice the total money.
Still insane to me these reporters announce things far before ink to paper like how tf do they know and who is leaking to just these guys? What kinda hold do they have to where they know first. And the fact there’s relationships intermixed and even Stephen A Smith saying LeBron will have Klutch sports approach media members if they say something contrary to their narrative is absolute insanity to me. It’s a deep rabbit hole you can go down
