So far, Hype is real. The torque on his knees and ankles is tremendous. Good thing he’s not too heavy and knows how to stretch. Kareem played 20 years because he was not too heavy for hid frame and knew Yoga. Stay healthy Victor!!!
@@DR.DisInfectquit your hating, don’t be mad he ain’t your team😂cause I know im not miserable like you Wemby haters😂 looking for something everyday to bring a 19 year old down💀 keep it coming tho baby, we love to see ourselves back in the spotlight, we know the league missed us😎
As a rookie, his court IQ is amazing. Plus his size, mobility/flexibility, handles, scores from anywhere he wishes, defense,..? This guy is the ultimate unicorn. Or Alien. Tbh
Don't forget: He's 19. Barring injury, he could have a career spanning well into 2035. Pop is also the guy that orchestrated Duncan playing for 2 decades.
No doubt he will make every teammate better. He will have a lot of attention with double and triple teams. If your slow getting back to your man...and he finds on the cut...bucket. He fakes the pass off... Step back jumper. Lob dunks all day long. Rebound put back dunks. He will be routinely targeted for block outs by multiple defenders....so it going to be exciting to this man go to work. He will sell tickets and definitely so hella high light segments....
@@Mdksupreme1he's very good the spurs aren't tanking and will likely make the play in. Tanking made people forget but the spurs overachieve every year, made the play in the past 2 seasons before last year and just got unlucky with injuries at the wrong time. Pop is getting mad at the refs in preseason, he's definitely gonna be trying to win this year
From watching Wembanyama in the summer league to pre season now what I have realised, he has a relatively skinny yet well-proportioned frame that should continue to be able to add weight. Also kid has real driving capabilities because of how long his strides are and how much ground he covers. He combines the threat of his pull-up shot with drives off hesitation dribbles well but I think his superpower is his ability to defend in the paint. He is the best shot-blocking prospect to enter the NBA in a long time. Kid is going to be a monster no doubt.
I can see when he has confidence on the court. He will start to dribble more and shoot fade aways.... No one can block that fadeaway. As long as he is healthy, ALL EYES ON HIM!! Handles, shooting, passing, defense, this is truly a unicorn player that will challenge and change the game. Great year to be a Spurs fan. I still love my Lakers! 😁 I just recognize pure talent paired with height.
This is a kid i can accept and rooting for to be the undisputed GOAT. I dont know if he will get anywhere close but ill be cheering him on all the way. The kids just special and I know that someone has to usurp Jordan one day and we could be seeing it now. Hes humble , mentality of wanting championships and has a little bit of a Killer in him ( which im hoping he grows to become a major killer ) Hoping he adopts that mamba mentality for the final cherry on his future. I honestly also really want him to stick with the spurs and make them a Dynasty again.
i m french so i can tell U , in our country it s frown upon to be ambitious so he s vague about it but this guy wants to be the best ever. he wants to earn more than any past player and he s so disciplined and well surrounded. Only point is the abitiliy to stay healthy and applied in his way of living and thinking basketball.
People are saying “he’s going to be a tall KD, that’s all,” as if KD isn’t one of the 15-20 greatest players ever. The dude will be mentored by Pop and Duncan. Everyone throws out “Mamba mentality” but remember, Duncan never missed the playoffs and won 71% of the game he played in. He may not have shown it, but Duncan is one of the most competitive players in the history of the NBA. Dude just wanted to win, he didn’t care if he was the star or a supporting player. It’s why the Spurs culture talks about getting over yourself. If Duncan could get over what little ego he had in the name of winning, then everyone should be able to. Wemby seems to have that type of attitude too. To be coached on his deficiencies and work on his strengths and do what’s needed to win. Can’t wait.
It wasnt until his preseason games were getting covered on RU-vid (like this video) that I had seen Victor play. I had no idea he was this good. If what we are seeing in these clips is how he truly plays - and the fact he is only 19 - he has the potential to make the Jordan/LeBron debate pointless.
The frame this dude has is just unbelievable in combination with his agility and basketball skills. This guy is gonna be a legend, I would bet money on it😀
and wemby is in the absolute BEST place for a generational big man in San Antonio with Pop. TD on the sidelines, and can probably still give you a good 25 minutes of good practice a couple times a week.
I am very impressed. He is an extraordinary rookie with unbelievable potential. His court awareness is good, he possesses great handling skills, shoots decent from the outside and is unstoppable in the paint. He can really be one of the best.
I live in Los Angeles but I've always been a fan of the Spurs because of Pop. I'm glad he seems to have a competitive team this year. Saying that, the Warriors look unbeatable this year. The only thing that will stop them are injuries. If they can stay healthy, I don't see anyone beating them.
There's the main difference between Summer League and NBA proper (albeit pre-season): people setting up teammates to their sweet spots. Everyone was looking out for their own self in Summer League. But with pros like Vassell and Sochan (and Keldon once he's healthy), Wemby will be put in positions where he can succeed and help out the team.
i have to agree he moves and shoots like durant can move like a great guard and bloc shots like the best of them . i never hought he would look this good
His talent is unmatched and with his size he’s definitely a gift if god and will be one of the best to ever play the game and I pray he stays healthy because in my opinion at 19 years old he will take over this league and be the best to ever do it. I’ve never seen anything like him at 7’5 or just someone so tall and so flexible and athletic. Amazing and so much fun to watch him ball out.
That through the legs stepback is even more impressive because of how low he kept his dribble. That's insane. Also, Sochan and Wemby are the best young frontcourt in the NBA and it's not even close.
I agree on all points. I noticed how low that dribble was as well, and I think Victor and Jeremy are going to work really well together. I'm glad somebody is mentioning Sochan.
There's only one question about a Hall of Fame career: Health, but if the Spurs and his Body can manage this he will have a good time. Wish him all the best its great to watch him. I at least will watch every matchup against Holmgren in the next years!
Wemby is what Ralph Sampson was promised to be 40 years ago, basically a 7'4" shooting guard/small forward. However, like Sampson, he's going to really, really need to monitor his health. Wemby is thin boned and impossibly long and will be putting scary torque on his joints. He'll need to be tremendously assiduous about stretching, almost like Ichiro was.
He is incredibly solid and disciplined for a rookie. His only issues I see right now is his turnovers. And most rookies have those, he tries to do more than he has to a lot of times. Also it seems that he shoots better as the game goes on. If I were his coach I'd tell him to stick to the inside early, then move out. Get a rhythm than shoot the 3s
2 of his turnovers yday were last second throws to him with the shot clock down to 2-3 seconds, he’s young and he’s on a team that knows how to teach players to protect the ball. He’ll be fine when pop locks him into his facilitating spots, expect most of it to happen from the elbow or when he gets doubled teamed down low. Simple basketball, he’ll get there 😊
Jones,Vassell,Johnson,Sochan Wemby. I think that is a great starting 5 to grow with. If they keep the core, grow + improve together & then gain a bench, I do believe that they, along with OKC have a crazy a good future.
I think people have become confused about the Wemby hype. It actually started from scouts, people whose job it is to evaluate talent. They had been following this French kid for years, and in the year leading up to the draft finally were all in on him. This was the first wave of hype, but it was from scouting evaluation. But it quickly turned into hype. Woj, who has more contacts and information sources than the CIA, simply reported the intel: “The best draft prospect, maybe team sports prospect, ever”. This sounded so absurd that it led to increasingly insane expectations, historical qualifications, doubt, and eventually, hate. All that Wemby’s current play shows is that the scouts were right all along, they did their job well and Woj reported on it accurately the more he came to grips with it. All the media hype and resulting noise was just a byproduct. Scariest thing of all, Wemby has known that and believed in himself the whole time. Strange and exciting times indeed.
Stop believing that all his skills are random! He was at the right school, and had parents who were professional sportsmen. Many young people in France love basketball and we have very good educators. Not to mention the physical level of our championship which has enormously increased. What do you think young basketball fans around the world are watching?
Yo, just wanna say grats on your recent channel growth! Been watching for a while, and just noticed your views are UP. Love the content, keep up the hard work.
He knew it too. When the Rockets showed up at 4, he fist pumped. When the Spurs got 1, he celebrated. When he was drafted, he cried. He knew that not only was Pop going to be there, But Robinson would show up, Duncan will probably be at the gym ready to work (because he got bored) and Manu will teach him the footwork of a guard. This kid is about to have a world class education to go with his already amazing talents and knowledge.
Always loved how the Spurs develop their late round picks into great players. Now imagine them developing someone with so much potential and talent like this kid. Also excited for their other young players who would be given the chance to be seen in the spotlight because of Wemby's hype.
I would not be surprised if the Spurs makes the playoffs. Pop doesnt waste talent, he will make the utmost possible to give this kid the best experience.
He’s a freak of nature. A 7’5” player who can cross over and shoot like a guard. He will be the face of the NBA. He needs to stay healthy. He will dominate the league. Another reason why I need to follow the Spurs.
I'm not a basketball fan but I love watching videos from experts. You did such a great job with the video skills that anyone, even me, would be impressed with Wemby's skills. Great job!
Playoffs is where it would be harder for him to rebound imo. He's too skinny to bang with guys like Jokic in a 7 game series rn, but as a rookie it's perfectly understable. Even Jokic was too skinny at a point in time and now he's a thicc ass boi
The sky is potentially the limit for this guy but the keywords here are 'two pre-season games'. Hopefully, he can stay healthy over the course of the season and show his talent long-term.
I love how everyone makes 8+min 20+min videos on the dude explaining how insane he is, whats the deal, braking him down to this and that, when its a simple 5 second 5 word explanation "He is long and athletic." people making Wembanyama videos thinking they did something while acting like this kid never played basketball in his life, its his first time picking up the ball. The dude played against grown ass men his whole career!! Jesus almighty.
Thank you for highlighting his passing. As a French basketball fan who watched a lot of his games in France last season, I can tell you his passing abilities and court vision were just about average. Not bad, but not great either. He now seems to be a genuinely good passer. It's scary to see how much he has improved over the course of just 1 summer.
He'll be fine, he played in france which is a lot closer to the 2000s style of basketball. He got beat up a lot last year and still played 50 something games, no one in the nba can beat him up like they did in europe very few players have that play style and only giannis is at his position who could punish his weight but he literally does that to everyone in the league
Classic case of the hype train. That guy sure is unique and very very talented, no doubt. We'll see how he fairs with time, mentally and physically, in a full NBA season against veterans and in the post season. Give him time to get better, to show what he's got, give time to the league to get used to him, then we'll see if he's worth all the hype.
