This video explores how art directly shapes and influences life. Discussion includes an overview of R.G. Collingwood's two categories of art: amusement art and magic art.
I think art is important , because art is permanent . no other cultural aspects are not as parmanant as art and literature. For example , in music the great songs or music goes to a sleep after the singer or musicians death , except one new singer or musician decides to play that same music or song once again. Even though we never know how the original ones were sang. We need to record that for the purpose . But art is parmanant . From the ancient cave arts of our ancestors ,we came to know how our ancestors lived , what they eat etc. At that time there were no letters discovered , that we can read , but only the art gives us the whole idea about our ancestors life. Without art our world is like body without soul, empty. Art shapes our culture .
I can debunk Oscar Wilde's stupid claim easily. "Without life, there is no art." There is absolutely no art whether it is music, art, painting, film, etc...... It all gets its meaning from life. Without life there is absolutely no interpolation of art. Think about that. People that believe this idiotic saying are either artists or numb to God's designs. Or they actually think they create better than God.
