I am here to sing the praises of the card Ruin Ghost for landfall decks that include white. It's a cheap uncommon that can flickr a land for one white and tapping. This means you can get a landfall trigger even during your opponents turn which can allow for the niche interactions. Highly recommend as I used it back during the original zendikar block and had a ton of fun with it.
One card that would go absolutely nuts on this commander is Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation. One Zombie means there's 3 Zombies, one Plant means three Plants. Pair that with Scapeshift and the deck just explodes with an insane value.
I actually went a recursion route and kind of focused on Knights n zombies. I think this has so many different ways to play it and that's why it's such a fun commander.
I am definitely put some money into this commander, I like to be budget, but this commander has my two favorite mechanics, Landfall, and Dredge, and I love Awaken the Woods because to me it says trigger every land fall effect you have x times, I wanna make that import because none of the landfall effects specifically say nontoken land, so you’ll get triggers for every single land, and with the creature that doubles landfalls, you could make x equal ten and get 20 beasts, 20 zombies, with field of the dead on the field it’ll be 40, gain 40 life or distribute 20 counters with retreat to Kazandu, with the retreat to Hagra, you can boost your creatures by 20 power with death touch, or drain everyone by 20 and gain 20, Emira, get 20 1/1s or everything get a +20/+20 boost until the end of the turn, Feildar Retreat will either give you 20 2/2 cats, or let you give all creatures 20 +1/+1 counters on all creatures and until of turn they have vigilance, and that’s not even half of what I wanna do
I was gonna swap to Lumra when it comes out because my Thalirog deck feels…boring. Like it’s very strong but like you said it’s very oppressive (or sometimes just durdles and feels disjointed), but Necrobloom feels like a lot more balanced and fun. I ran some stax pieces with Thalirog too that I might not run here, so I won’t be as powerful but I kinda feel like this might be more consistent and fun for the table while still being able to win.
@@ErnieKuhz cast the nightmare, gain 3 energy. Sac a token, pay 0 energy (dryad arbor has no CMC), bring back dryad arbor. You get a token and any other landfall trigger and nightmare goes back to hand. Then when you cast nightmare again you get 3 more energy (total of 6 now). Sac the dryad arbor to the nightmare and bring any creature back. Repeat as long as you have mana to cast the nightmare
You are right. I typically don’t show land bases with any of my decks because it is the most variable element of any deck and can range in price and quality. I should have made that point in the video and have received a few comments about it. I’m sorry for the confusion. I hope you have a great day!
Love the decklist except for the basics. Having only basics for the skullclamp synergy is good but i prefer field of the dead everytime. Kinda weird choice imo
@@johnsmith-dn8kv yeah idk what bro was thinking like westvale abbey and dark depths is another win con also glacial chasm is stupid broken bc you can play it then sac it at your next up keep and then dredge it and repeat to just be invulnerable
You’re totally right but I don’t build a land base for any of my decks because no one will stick around to watch me talk about it. Lands a completely subjective and in a deck like this can cost several time more then the actual deck it self. If I personally built this land base form what I have it would be over a grand and that’s not feasible for everyone so I leave the land section blank (just basics) so everyone can build it how they see fit either based on what they own or what they can afford. Now I agree that I maybe should have mentioned that in this video especially because it’s land based so that part is on me. I hope this helps explain why I did what I did but I hope you all have a great day!
You're literally leaving value on the table by only using basics in the deck, which is your first issue. Your second issue is that you're not actually committing to any wincon this commander presents. This decklist reads like you yanked a bunch of cards off of EDHREC but stopped when you hit the lands section tbh. No hate, but this deck isn't it.
I only include basics because lands are so subjective and no one will stay around to watch me talk about lands in all my commander videos. I personally would have built out the land base pretty extensively but the time it takes it’s is not worth it for the 3 people who stick around to watch that part. I also am only trying to show off the many different ways you can go about building a deck like this. That’s why I split it up. In this case this is all about lands so lefts look at the different ways lands can be impactful. I’m sorry the deck did not please you but I hope you have a great day!
