Was so pleased to finally receive the Neo80. I have to admit, the build/construction is pretty decent - love the magnetic pcb and wireless design. However, the stabilizers are absolutely shockingly awful, they don't even fit properly and you can tell that they just cut unnecessary corners in otherwise a very decent keyboard. The FR4 plate wasn't machined properly either, so some switches didn't fit properly also. Overall I'd give it a 6/10 and wasn't really thrilled. Typing this all on a Chilkey which is so much better sadly.

You have to be very clear about pricing. Shipping always has to be accounted for, because so many options from Amzn/Ali and even many keyboard vendors have free shipping even coming all the way across the planet form CN to US... If you don't talk about those boards as if they are $15-40 USD cheaper than MSRP says because the shipping is free, then you can't ignore shipping from the pretentious vendors that don't integrate it. I don't want to log in to their site to get an exact quote, but the board with the minimum options just to get wired hotswap and a plate, is $135 likely + $20-40 in shipping (and the local vendors seem to be up-charging the same or more), making it a $150-170 barebones board, or a $180-200 finished board minimum. There are prebuilts that come in at 110 shipped with obviously less features/quality, but new people that haven't done the research will compare those to this and think this must be a better value at such a close price... when like I said the true disparity is $110 vs $180-200 making the equation much different.

$110 USD seems to only be for a plateless non-hotswap config which honestly not most people will get. So yea misleading title. Add a plate and hotswap PCB and that'll run you $140 USD. In Canada a typical config with tri-mode hotswap PCB and default FR4 plate runs $238 CAD including tax and $20 shipping, and that's without switches and keycaps. Great high-end keyboard, but not really good value. Better value IMO is the aluminum Feker Galaxy80 pre-built for $150 CAD with free shipping from Epomaker with switches and keycaps included. And best value would be the Aula F87 Pro pre-built for $85 CAD with free shipping, which really punches above its weight for an entry level plastic keyboard.

How can you account shipping when its different for everyone? Of course he is not going to mention shipping in the title since its subjective, this should be a no brainer.

Heyooo! Your concern is totally valid and I'll admit, not everyone would opt to go for the cheapest option The $110 option would really only get anyone a plateless solder barebones kit and more realistically people would grab a plate and a hot-swap PCB to go with their build. I can't really generalize how much shipping is gonna cost for everyone since it'll really depend on whichever vendor you get your board from. So the most I can do the math for is just the price of the barebones kit alone. For me, I got my board from my local vendor here in the Philippines, Zion Studios PH and for the config I got (Anodized Green, Aluminum Plate, Copper Weight and a Tri-Mode Hotswap PCB), it came out to about 9400Php without any shipping costs, which converted comes out to $168 I'll be changing the title to better reflect the price of the kit that I worked on for the stream VOD/ video. Apologies for the clickbait title ✌

Hey I have found GX87 by Mchose, would you like to review it any day?? It seems like a budget competitor for neo80

I'm torn between this and Cycle8. I believe the latter offers even better value for its price, but there are only a few reviews available and no direct comparisons.

Not only you can get a neo80 in probably less than a month, unlike the cycle, but the board is highly customizable, very solid sound wise and looks and feels very high quality. I have a neo80 with alu + obscuras and it sounds just like my envoy but a bit better

objective wise neo80 offers a ton of different mounting system, not only its vary but they can be combined too. subjective wise cycle8 could be prettier board design wise, but who knows. both are good

You can get a Neo80 right now. The cycle8 is a GB. There is no comparison. What's the point of saying one board is better than another when one isn't even available to buy? Such a weird take.

Are the hmx poros smooth stock? I like the way they sound stock, so I might get them if they’re smooth as well

I’m also getting myself a Neo80 also it’s the same config as your one (Neo80 green anode + copper weight + trimode hotswap pcb + alu & pom plate ):3 wish me luck and the cost was almost the same as yours as well if you don’t count the price of the pom plate . So had a question - Any thoughts on how it would turn out with hmx clouds ? I liked the clouds and cheese a lot but couldn’t get the cheese as it might have been discontinued. Thinking of getting the clouds and do a foamless build. 😷 Also need suggestions regarding keycaps 🤒 not sure if i would be able to afford original caps so might need to opt for clones . Feel free to drop your suggestions 🥹 TIA !

Hey that's awesome haha! Good luck with your build! HMX Clouds would be absolutely amazing on the Neo. I've yet to try that config myself but I'd assume it'd be insanely clacky. Then for keycap recommendations, you could probably find some vendors selling GMK Hanami Dango for cheap nowadays. Or Domikey Silent Forest would fit aswell. Hope this helps!

How would you compare these to the Keychron Q series? I’m torn between a second Q3 Pro or a Neo80.
@0xBULLgogi
@0xBULLgogi 3 месяца назад
This is a late reply, but this is miles better than the Q3. The only thing you would be missing are RGB keys but everything else is head and shoulders better.

How do you get this keyboard for $110? It is 140 for me
@hivesteel
@hivesteel 5 месяцев назад
Are you using solder PCB? Plateless? No you’re not, so it’s not 110$, unless they gave you a discount. Also they gave you free shipping, free switches and free key caps? Heck of a deal. Oh it was clickbait, I see.
