im an American and i feel that the dutch are the best people on earth :), they are sooo genuine ....i love ya dutchy !! my brother from another mother :)
theflyingdutchman167 lol, thank you, one of my best friends is from Hoorn, i have learned so much from him, and one of the things i have seen for my self is the genuine nature of the Dutch people,And the responsability they show for their lives, i feel like they are miles ahead of most nations, and im talking about the citizens, im still learning about the government , so i cant really comment on that aspect , but i have not met or seen a dutch person that was rude, or arrogant , or loud. you know for me (an american) it says alot about a people whose teens can drink beer at the age of 16 , but they are not really interested in doing so, at least not to get drunk,i think that shows a level of class the rest of the world can learn from.
i really love Netherlands! and thanks for the language influence and chocolate confetti that you brought to Indonesia. Meses (yep, we called that choco confetti as meses. I believe, it came from dutch language), is the best thing God and you ever give to us. :))))
+Paulina Tjandra Oh lol i thought most Indonesians hated the Dutch because of what they did there. Atleast i have met some that didn't like me cause i'm dutch. Think its stupid to blame me for what the people then did to your country.. I think Indonesians are great :)
Joran Rosier thx! Yep i find it's stupid to blame people blindly. And neither dutch nor japanese nor other countries have faults now. Look, even because of the colonialsm, people got civilised in sort of way. The science, architecture, language, food, culture, etc influences... Why we must always blame or point out the negative side if we can look and take the positive sides out from something? :)) P.S: now that i start to learn Dutch, and how funny to find that I can easily recognised most of the words! (thanks for being Indonesian whose language has many Dutch Influence). I think Dutch is easier than German in sort of way... Although the pronunciation is a little bit hard with so many throat-spelling... :"")
Paulina Tjandra Oh you really are learning dutch? are you planning on moving here or? :) yeah i don't know if its easier than German. It could be but i don't really have a hard time learning german cause Dutch is alot like German. :P And same goes for the influence of Indonesia here, you have alot of Indonesian food here and its really good^^ And i could totally understand why prenouncing Dutch words is hard cause alot of GGGGG. xD Like almost no other countries from Europe can pronounce it right.
Joran Rosier maybe I'll move to Netherlands someday in my life... XD But now I'm just move in to Germany to study here... But, when I'm on holiday and saving enough money, I'll definitely visit Netherlands.... Cause, I heard that there're quite a variety of Indonesian or even Dutch-East-Indies foods there....(in other words, it's kinda like a remedy for homesick :"")) Argghh I'm craving some Indonesian foods right now (.__.)
+Paulina Tjandra hahaha thats true we have a lot of indonesian people and you can buy the food everywhere and when you do visit the netherlands one day than I hope you will enjoy it!!
Just came back from Maastricht and any towns around......I discovered a wonderful country. Love this country full of a green environment and polite people. Best appreciations from Italy
Well, i have seen it right now, 8 years after it got uploaded. And i must say, it required a mayor update. First 'Sinterklaas' (Saint Nicolas) is about to banned real soon, thanks to tinted skinned activists, that apparently does not know anything about 'Sinterklaas' and 'Zwarte Piet' (Black Pete). They call the Black Pete's being an insult, and reffered it to the slavery back in the time of 1600 or earlier. Koninginnendag (Queens Day) has become koningsdag (Kings Day). Most Dutch families don't have 2 working parents. I guess this item is a fifty-fifty situation. Due to financial issues, we HAVE TO work both. Work is not available everywhere. The latest years work was only be found in the industrial area near Rotterdam, Amsterdam etcetra. Oh man, this video requires a mayor update.
Been living my life for others for 33 years. .after this its gna be me in the Netherlands. Free to speak n be who i am.finally.cant wait!!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
My brother Eric lives in Diepenveen. He was our foreign exchange student in 1979 and even though we weren't his host family he adopted us, and we him. We were a poor but tight Southern California family and Eric brought a lot to our MexicanAmerican lives that we otherwise would have never experienced. My fondest memory of Eric is him just strolling into our home one day and asking, "Mama, what's for dinner"? From that day on he was part of our family. All our love to you Eric.
What I like most about Nederlanders is their zest for life. All the people I've ever met from there are genuinely nice. They have a brilliant sense of humour too! Also, the way they share the incomparable Andre Rieu with the world is amazing!!
Most Dutch familys do not eat breakfast toghether, women have a job and most parents leave earlier than the kids, we have to go to school until we are 18 and most people go to the "Hoge school" after they went to the "Middelbare school" chocolate confetti is called "Hagelslag" and Sinterklaas leaves the country on the 6th of December, he comes in november and stays like a month or something. We also celebrate "Sint Maarten" that is like Halloween for Dutch people. On "Koningsdag" we celebrate the birthday of the king, we used to celebrate "Koninginnedag" but that was not the birthday of Beatrix, is was the birthday of Juliana, Beatrix' mother. There are some farmers who eat hot meal around 13.00, this was what every Dutch person did like a 100 years ago.
Fat Lip People who have used cannabis USA:40,3% NL:22,6%. Homocide rate per 100000 USA:5,6 NL:1,2. Drug-related deaths per 1000000 USA:38! NL:2,4. Are you convinced you made a mistake?
Just a little heads-up to all of the people who want to visit the Netherlands for Queensday in order to prevent disappointment.... We now have a king, so we celebrate Kingsday. Which is not on the 30th of april but on the 27th of april.(his birthday) The festivities are the same, but it is on the 27th of april instead ;)
English: 7:12 nobody reacts like that in the Netherlands when they open their lunchboxes😂😂 and this video was made when the last dinosaur died Nederlands: 7:12 niemand reageert zo in Nederland als ze hun broodtrommel open maken😂😂 en deze video is gemaakt toen de laatste dinosaurus stierf
I hate it when everybody says: Holland = windmills and clogs. That's not true, most people live in houses and most people wear shoes, not clogs, like me, I've never even touched clogs and have never been in a windmill
Niels Ruitenbeek I don't wear clogs, don't live in a mill, don't have tullips in the garden en for sure I do NOT live in Holland ... I live in the Netherlands. Holland is the part on the west coast. There are 10 other provincies.
Niels Ruitenbeek I was born and grow up in Zutphen. So, I'm Gelders too. Now I already live for many years in Fryslân, but Gelderland is my Home Ground.
Bombardon Has not thing to do with of being a Commie, what I'm not. It has to do in wich Province (state) of the Netherlands you live. It is like saying to every American the he is an Texan.
Oh My God! You so witty! I am really blown away by your witty and smart reply. Yeah. I got nothing to counter that with. You clearly showed your superior intellect with such a remark. How could I ever fail to notice how brilliant your first and then following remarks were by such a truly brilliant remark. Seriously! I am -blown away- by the incredible intellect that is showing behind this remark! How eloquently succinct you are. Truly amazing.
I love living here, and it's absolutely amazing when it's warm. Unfortunately it's cold most of the time. I live about 20 minutes from Rotterdam, if I go there, I go by train.
Ik ben Amerikaan. Ik lere om Nederlands te spreken omdat ik zou Nederland willen bezoeken. Ik zou het standbeeld van Michiel de Ruyter.... en de grachten...en de boten.. :):)
I've been to the Netherlands a couple of times, once in June (great time to visit...endless days), and once at Christmas time. Having grown up with the image of Holland portray in Hans Brinker , I was hoping to go skating a canal. No luck. Great place to visit. Very gay friendly, by the way.
im aussie but parents a dutch going there for a second time in august and i love the place, been to some very nice places outside of amsterdam, cant wait to vist giethoorn
And he comes back with an even MORE brilliant remark! My god. Just look at how logically this question follows from what we talked about before! You Sir/Madam, I bow to your superior intellict. With such well founded arguments, not a fallacy in sight. I take my hat off and prostrate myself before your obviously superior mind and intellect. Especially the caps and the way how you misspelled the word 'you'. And all dutch people must bow down to that clearly superior intellect.
Who is behind this silly film, with its infantile mouse and a British narrator talking in the 'we' form. Who is prepared to pay a lot of money to portray the country as a harmonious, middle-class paradise, full of virtuous, hardworking, blond people. The style reminds me of Bert Haanstra's documentaries of the early 60's. Thats is not a compliment. I am not saying the countries is a dump or something. It is wel organised and by most standards affluent, but, just like every other country, it has some very rough edges. And those define a country as much as the pretty bits.
I have see a lot of videos about the dutch culture but this is the only one that is true very good video nice to see and yes I am dutch so I know what I say this video shows perfectly the dutch culture
A sweet idealized view that you will find in tourist folders. And again the only part shown is the 50km wide stretch allongside the west coast, and the other parts of the country with different landscapes, architecture and culture is not shown. Its even not all flat, in the center there are forests and moors covering sand dunes, with stretches exposed sand. In some places rivers have formed shallow valleys, and the south eastern part (the tip of the tail) raises up to almost 1000ft/330m above sea level, here you can see little streams that cutted out valleys. Old cities in the sout east of the country have a complete different look from these like in the west, and there is a lot of industry there as well (not only in the west like the narrator tells you), the south east was actually the first part of the Netherlands (not Holland, that's just a province, acually 2 provinces, north and south holland that form the west coast) which was industrialized because of the pressence of coal, limestone, silver sand and gravel in this part of the country, coal being mined as early as the 16th century, and from the 19th century ceramic, glass and textile industry really took off, from the start of the 20th century coal mining went on to produce some of the largest and most modern deep coal mines on the world (some boasted over 800km/500miles of underground tunnels). From the middle 60's coal mines were closed, and other forms of industry replaced them partially, like car industry (currently producing the Mini Countryman) and chemical industry (plastics, medicine, food additives, fertilizer, and the strongest synthetic fiber, Dyneema, was invented here) Also worldwide known, the Phillips lighting and electronics company, is based in the South east (Eindhoven), they invented the compact disc, and Eindhoven still is the silicon valley of the Netherlands.
Is Salvia Divinorum legal over there? I mean will I be able to buy a few live Salvia plants to grow in my room? Also are the police likely to give me any hassle, for psychedelic things I grow or order and consume myself? (Psychedelic painter, planning to move to the Netherlands in the next month or two)
well let me see. I am Guatemaltecan. and i think i really really love Holland.! I have a crush with that wonderful country...! some day i will go and be happy :D

You forgot to mention that an accident comes never alone, that all good comes in threes, fish must swim and when it rains it rains either old wives or pipe stems. One swallow doesn't make summer yet, but behind the clouds the sun is always shining. As the landlord is he trusts his guests but a good neighbour is still better than a far friend. The neighbour's grass is always greener anyway.
