The NEW 2023 PING i230 IRONS Have ONE HUGE Issue...!? 

Would love an i200 vs i210 vs i230 comparison video. Comparing spin, carry, ball speed, standard deviation, etc.

I made the mistake of testing the i230 irons yesterday, and I've a feeling it's going to be an expensive mistake, because they're absolutely spectacular.

Currently gaming the i210s for the last 2 season. They are my summer irons. Just put my mp62s into my bag for the winter. The feel on the mizuno are so much better ,and I feel that once summer comes and when I go back to the pings my striking is far better as they are easier to hit. Considering giving the pings another season then seeing what mizuno bring out.

Tested the i230 and Mizuno 223’s today. Ended up going with the i230 just because the face seems bigger at address, so excited to play them!!

They look great. You’re getting consistent results. If you needed or wanted new irons, then I would see no reason why not. Interestingly enough many years ago I was fitted for Ping S57 irons and I love them. But I’m happy with what I have.

So I have the miz 223s as well. However that set is really a combo set which progresses to more challenging clubs in the short irons. Sure we all want to believe we have that skills to hit more elite irons but in reality most of us need help. The miz 223s get very 221 down from 7….so 8,9,and PW are very not forgiving at all. You’ll find yourself short or gapping more often than not IMHO. Kinda feel the i230s have more continuity through the the set. @james what do you think?

As an i210 player I would like to see a comparison with the i230. From looking at the specs on Ping’s website, the loft, lie, offset and bounce haven’t changed, so all they’ve really done is incorporate the heel and toe weights. Not sure if that’s enough of an improvement to make me spend $$$.🤔

Just got fitted into these today, incredible feel and sound. Looking forward to using them out on the course.

Thinking about coming back to Ping irons. I used to play nothing but because I was stationed in Japan and the greens were tiny and hard as cement. The only thing I found to help hold a shot on the greens was the great spin I could generate with the various Ping irons I played. Since moving back to the states I needed distance more than spin so I switched to Callaway irons. My handicap has been all over the place. This year I'm going to play more and I've decided to concentrate more on distance control vice just hitting everything as far as possible. That means returning Ping irons to my bag. I loved my i3 blades back in the day so I'm hoping the new i230s will perform similarly. I may chase down a set of i210s depending on if I can find a good set at a good price.

They are indeed very forgiving. I'm a 15 HCP and just ordered mine yesterday. They are amazing irons and spoke to me immediately; the feel, the sound and the look completes the package. Can't wait to get them!

Just a quick note, (good review btw) I think you made a slight error in the tech section... you said reduce CG, I think you meant lower CG ( in regard to where it sits within the clubhhead) 👍

Interestingly enough I've been waiting on these clubs as a high handicapper ... I was fitted for Ping i210s not too long ago and loved them, but because of the shelf age I wasn't willing to pull the trigger on 4 year old irons. I play Taylormade M4 irons from 2017 still to this day, and they've served me well, I'm still a 20 handicap but when I was fitted for the i210s I had more solid contact, better trajectory, more distance, and more spin (I tend to hit lower trajectory shots) and the feel was so much softer than my M4s. I can't wait to get into a fitting session and see how these perform based on my previous eperience with the i210.

I’ve been waiting for these to drop, I work at a golf shop and tried to order 210s last fall and couldn’t get any here in Canada. I was hoping they didn’t change much from the 210. Already have my set and spec picked out just need them to become available.

Yep, gunna get fitted for these & FINALLY upgrade my Ping i15's! These are the perfect middle ground that I've been looking for with Ping.

Would these in a power spec be comparable to players distance irons

PINGs always make the short list for me but never quite make it into the bag. Last purchase was the Mizuno hot metals. Thanks James I am 1 more season away from new irons but PING will be on the short list again.

I’ve had ping irons and they are nothing more than consistent and crazy good… however the mizunos will always have my heart not matter the differences… rocking the 223 and just can’t get over them.

So carrying a Takomo bag and hitting Ping irons. Hmmm...seems like a head to head competition video is needed.

Swapped from mizuno jpx921 forged to these and they are superb a slight toe or heel still goes all bar a couple of yards shorter Highly recommend yep I’ve sacrificed slight feel but I’ve not noticed it after couple of rounds also spin higher than mizuno Great club

They do look great but I'm not sure how they'd remove my 210's from my bag - sooo like them.

Irons look GREAT. Please do a comparison of the 210's and the 230

If you are used to playing a Mizuno forged iron. Not many irons are going to compare on feel.

These clubs launch super high. I am losing 10-15 yds per club with the standard lofts. I traded them in for the more aggressive strong lofts option. If you have trouble getting the ball in the air these clubs will help

I use Ping Rapture v2 irons. Had them for a few years now, love ‘em…they are my 3rd set of Pings…wouldn’t use anything else. Those new ones look good though

So Coach Robinson are you that Ping’s i230 that they look good in the bag as well at address. Good distance & control but the buttery feel of the Mizuno Pros. Not a harsh feel, but a firm feel? Will Ping release a new line of wedges for 2023?

Playing s58... and it is a great iron. Maybe The ZZ65 shaft makes them feel so good. I like 210 looks better than 230. This reminds too much iblade and i500.

Which is better James, i230’s or Mizuno Pro 223s?

I wonder if Hovland will play the i230. He plays a full set of i210 irons and as much as the airlines keep losing his clubs the i230 might be easier to source locally when he needs to.

I have just noticed that the back of the 4 iron and 5 iron is different from the rest of the set?.. where the i230 logo is. Anybody else noticed this?. Any answers why?. Regards.

£180 per iron - it’s the type of club I’d use but the price point these days is to high

I'm rocking a set of i59s. They're awesome and everything I'd like in a set of irons. If the i230s come close (and I'm sure they do) they'll be excellent.

gamed the i210s for 2 years, crossed over to Mizuno Pro 225's--love the +8-12 extra yards, but missing the Ping spin rates. I was actually trying to find the person who bought my i210s from me and buy them back, until this video. Very curious about i230s

Got fitted into these today they felt amazing and i felt like i had great control over the club

Have a set of I210's and a set of Mizuno JPX921Pro's, prefer the JPX. Still miss my Ping Anser forged clubs. Wore them out. May try the Mizuno Pro 223 next. May need to sell a few things though.

Depends on what ball you are using for the spin rpm you are looking for.

Nice swinging. If I had two sets of irons, one with a computer number on them and another set with Mizuno Pro on them, I know which ones I'd put in the bag. And they wouldn't have a screw in the end.

How does the insert "reduce CG"? Otherwise an excellent review, particularly good mix of course and studio information.

Is the insert at the back, the same cheap plastic as the Titleist T200, or something better??

At £180 each do you wall mount them or damage them on the course?

Looks like they took the S55, iBlade, and i210 and combined all the best aspects of each!

Still loving my i210 don’t think I’m quite ready to part with them. But wouldn’t mind seeing a comparison of i210 to i230

Ive been waiting to see these for ages. Had i210 for 3 seasons. As much as i like shiney new irons i just cant see the point in swapping. I dont know if i want my 4 and 5 iron any more compact than my i210

What puts me off is that gap at the back of the club heel side on the badge, looks poor and maybe dirt mud gets behind the badge?

I use to love ping irons but as I got older and balls changed I started to fly them way too high but a couple years ago I hit the blueprints and been wanting a new set since Though I do love my Srixon 785s

Looks, sound, feel? Couldntcre less. Just performance. Is it consistent and strait. If so I like it. If not, I don't care how it looks, sounds, or feels.

I love Ping clubs. I game their putters, hybrids, fairway woods, and driver. However, their irons miss the mark. I game Srixon ZX5 II irons. My problem: I’m a decent mid handicap golfer. I need some help (tungsten, hot face, reasonable blade length) but I can’t stand large amounts of offset. The i230 is used by pros, and I’m no pro. The G430 has enough offset to choke a horse. I get nauseous looking down at a G430 iron. The 500 series iron is a hollow body i230. The 700 series iron is a hollow body G430. They need an iron in the middle - a players distance iron. Srixon ZX5 II, TM 790, Callaway Apex, Titleist T200, Wilson Staff Dynapower Forged - Ping has nothing that competes in this category.

I gave my I200's to my cousin. Kinda stinks he beats me all the time with my old set. Dang!
