Welcome to AIFA (Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles), Mexico City's newest aviation hub. We'll explore the airport's strategic location, cutting-edge infrastructure, and role in alleviating air traffic congestion. Also, we will check out the terminal facilities, and transportation options to and from Mexico City center.
AIFA's development began as a solution to Mexico City's growing air traffic congestion. The existing Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) had been operating at capacity for years, prompting the need for a new airport.
It was built on the grounds of the Santa Lucía Air Force Base, about 50 km (22 miles) north of Mexico City center. Construction began in 2019 and was completed in just over two years, with the airport officially inaugurated on March 21, 2022.
Whether you're a traveler or aviation enthusiast, this comprehensive overview will prepare you for your next journey through Mexico City's
new state-of-the-art airport.

AIFA is the most modern latinamerican airport. It will include a high speed train connecting mexico city. It is now financialy sustainable just 2 years from its operational begin. It will complement the old airport that is already saturated with +50 million passengers per year.

No bad at all, the thing here is that some people vent their political haatred against this airport. If you like cleanliness, polite treatment and flight on time just use it.

I think this airport is convenient for folks like me.. I've arrived in the past to Benito Juarez airport traveling to Celaya Guanajuato.. the prices are cheap if u find a good day but u can definitely take a good minute since the airport is in the center and it usually takes up to an hour to leave the city just to reach the outskirts.. so given the fact that this new airport is literally outside the city of cdmx I think it's really beneficial for folks traveling a bit up north to another city in Mexico.. seems very clean and organized 👍🏻

Not complicated at all to find the bus terminal, right? Too dramatic.Ok. I ended up watching the video and gave it a thumbs up only because after your rambling about how far the airport is from downtown historic CDMX (btw, most airports at least in Europe like De Gaulle are at least an hour away from their downtown area and this new airport is now finishing its suburban train which you saw being publicized. It's an awesome airport. At least your mood changed when you got to zócalo so a big 👍👍👍for you.

The International Airport AIFA right now is only operating at half capacity because the BUSINESS MASTER PLAN IS to expand and have the other half as it becomes busier, which by now after 2 years its at 6 million capacity. it is meant to be not the only airport but to be part of the airport system like in Chicago where we have Ohare and Midway or New york that has La guardia, kennedy and Newark liberty.. Thayt is much better instead of one bussy airport.

I’d purposely find a route thru AIFA before CDMX - amazing airport - very long & spread out but very nice - but only for connections, not to transit to Centro

It's not horrible, but not completely functional. I mean, we needed a new airport to function as a mayor HUB and splitting operations between 2 airports this far away from each other makes it impossible, also ground access is poor and bad designed and the mayor problem is the México City's geography making very difficult to operate simultaneously.
@AGTravel
@AGTravel 3 месяца назад
You are correct about everything. It’s not perfect but it is a decent airport and it does the job as far as relieving traffic from the other airport
