Mojang: We removed fireflies because they are apparently poisonous to frogs in real life, and since Minecraft has always been a faithful adaptation of the real world and its laws, we don’t want to promote death of innocent lives, and thus made this decision. Meanwhile, the redstone engineering community:
We should appreciate the fact that Mojang removed fireflies. Who knows how many frogs would have been poisoned! Good thing we all know now that we can feed frogs a heathy and balanced diet of slime and magma! Why.
We don't need a Nuclear Treaty in Minecraft, what we need is the misuse of payloads on noobs. What we'd call professional griefing. That's a nice base you got there little timmy.
Everyone is talking about the cannon, but seriously no one wants to congratulate him for graduating? You really deserve it, and I gotta say that your videos are always inspiring to me before I entered the university until now as a second year Computer Engineering student. They improve my critical thinking skill a lot. Thanks for your hard work through the past years!
For anyone trying to paste the schematic into their world. The Minecraft safety feature at the middle of the machine (the redstone line with several mine carts and gold pressure plates) gets stuck without updating. You need to remove and place the comparators at the corner of that line for the machine to work.
This is because tile ticks scheduled by the pressure plate are required to make it check for the entities presence every 10 ticks. If the plate is simply pressed then pasted in from a schematic it does not include the scheduled tile tick.
@@cubicmetreHey Cubicmetre, Quick question: What versions of Minecraft does the cannon work on? I don't want to build it just for it to not function. I would appreciate if you put it in the description too for other people to see, thanks!
Are you talking about the comparators at the bottom right of the machine? the ones connected to the minecart track through the piston slimeblock circut?
Hello! I know this comment is a bit late but I just had a really cool idea. Using this system, but instead of firing tnt, it would fire a chest minecart. If it could survive the explosion, it could be used to instantly transport large amounts of resources to a specific spot without the need to constantly go back and forth, utilizing shulker loaders then then get filled into the minecart!
This is unreal. Never thought id see the day where tnt cannons share more similarities to an icbm than to an actual cannon. Making a whole guidance computer to launch tnt is unreal and I applaud your efforts!
@Sealanimations69 i made a cannon with double 4x12 dispenser walls that repeats 7 times, 336 blocks of tnt, one shot. Cubicmetre is still the king of cannons though
Y'know if there were to be a 5.0 version I'd love to see how it could handle deep underground targets or something like attacking the side of a mountain.
Considering there's currently a war going on rn in my mc server this will pretty much end the war instantly, the best part ngl tho is that it's hard to find due to the range, and even if you find it you need the excel spreadsheet to work it meaning that at worst enemies can only destroy it, not use it against you
@@grimmsoul3096there will be a way to check the items don't target a set specific area (where your own base is) so even if people know where to find the spreadsheet they can't target your base unless they understand the system enough to disable that feature
Mechanical Engineer AND physicist??!! Damn man that's awesome congratulations! I hope I get to that point in the next 4 years but only with informatic engineering 😅. I found your channel some days ago but I admire you and the way these proyects are working and growing because of you. Thank you so much for the content and motivation
Dude precision strike destroys military targets within the village, then while they're defenseless proceeds to blow up the whole thing just to prove he can. Absolute dick move
First of all: cool that you have graduated, congrats. Second: I would really like to see the carnage of multiple factions on a PvP Server with Raids that all had multiple of these ICBM-like contraptions and what base designs the players would come up with to ether withstand such a blast or whatever.
Congrats on graduating! I’m in my third year of mechanical engineering and I couldn't imagine also working on youtube and also majoring in physics. That’s absolutely insane! Congratulations.
@@cloroxbleach7554 That'll be next year for me, my schedule is a bit wonky. had a uh... lovely time in statics recently though. Especially since my professor was trying her best to flush students out early on :) I love this degree!
bold of you to think that you can build this in 2b2t without it being destroyed half a days later. they have hacks that can easily locate the cannon, and if they cannot use it they just blow it up
@@dangductran2926 if you actually play the server you’d know that fit greatly exaggerates for content purposes. All bases I’ve been to lasted months to years. Lmk if you wanna build this together in game it would be fun
Now I'm just waiting on someone to build a redstone computer that becomes self-aware, builds a bunch of orbital nuke cannons and takes out all life on a server...... and when it starts to lose the war, it auto loads a back up (Goes back in time)..... and first tries to take out the person who was pivotal in the fight back.
Double majoring mech. Eng. and physics!? You are amazing! I’m in my first year of engineering and some of my classes have like half the people fail by the end of the term. Uploading these videos as well. It’s inspiring resilience, I hope to have even a little bit of the drive you have.
Imagine connecting two binary randomizers to the x and y variables and a daylight sensor connected to the trigger... Every time the sun rises, a random location in your server gets absolutely nuked ☠️
Now that's just nuts. All that's needed now is a command center that can control multiple silos simultaneously.... By the way, is there a way to fire the nukes from under water? Nobody ever explores massive oceans, so it's a pretty safe space to hide a laumcher.
the current design is rather unsafe underwater, due to all the circuits getting taken off by the water, you would have to change the design a bit, so there are walls surrounding the point where the nuke leaves the silo to the powdered snow, granted its not a big change, but its still a change
Some suggestions: 1. More settings. Cannon 2.0 could allow very intricate designs to be made, such as the mushroom cloud nuke, or the penetrator nuke, which is very practical for striking underground bases. This version does not seem to have the customization capabilities that the other cannons do. Maybe design a mod that replaces the command center in the nether with a more customizable one. 2. Sending arrows/potions. Sure blowing things up is fun, but fully destroying someones base is generally against gentleman's rules on servers. HOWEVER, killing a person is an unavoidable aspect of the game. Maybe we could design some mods for the cannon that allow potions or arrows to be sent. (I know potions are a technical nightmare, since they generally break when hitting a block, but I'm thinking an implementation similar to an enderpearl stasis chamber) 3. Sending inventory entities. By making the cannon be able to send an entity such as a chest minecart, we can send items to anyone within the cannon's area of effect anything we want. setting up a chunk ban for a friend has instantly become 100 times easier. Maybe your friend died 2000 blocks away but u have their items. Now you can send them instantly, without having to fly back or wait for the friend to walk to you. 4. Key code/Auto destruct. The way I see it, if I'm going to build a $40 billion dollar machine (wether in real life or in a game) I want only me and my allies to access it. This can be done with a keycar/ autodestruct. First I could break a piece of glass in order to self destruct the cannon manually. Also, I would have a keycard which would be inputted in the first chest minecart in order for it to launch. Now an enemy could just find the sorting hopper and copy whatever is in there, so I'm thinking we surround the sorting hopper in a semi-stable observer loop that any change to will activate. (what I mean by this is find a way to make an observer redstone clock, without having it create an infinite loop, then, have observers inside the loop that will detect if the loop ever goes off and will destroy the cannon.) 5. Update the cannon to work on newer versions. Many servers and players are starting to switch over to newer versions as their mods are being updated. Also, newer versions add calibrated skulk sensors, which have interesting mechanics which I think can be implemented in the cannon. P.S. Congrats on you degree!
Responding to 3 and 5. 2000 blocks isn't that far. it's only about 10 mins walking. Why build a doomsday device to act as a mailman only 2000 blocks away? And the cannon does work on newer versions. Cubic would mention it otherwise. It just doesn't work on Bedrock (bedrock redstone in general doesn't work) or paper servers (cause it changes a lot of ways redstone works).
@@MorganSaph You could create a system that fires "mail" payloads containing resources/messages to allies across the server. The usual methods of item transportation would have to connect both bases together with some sort of long item line, which would both be easy to sabotage and would make the source and target clear. For the oribital mail cannon, the source of the package would be completely anonymous and it would also be impossible for enemies to sabotage/intercept packages, which would be great for large faction servers. On top of that, you wouldn't have to build an item line for each base. Other than that, it would probably be more pratical to just walk there and back to deliver items but it's still a funny overkill idea, lol.
They mentioned in a previous video why arrows, potions, ender pearls and other such payloads don't work - they are entities and try to load chunks they pass through, so firing one instantly through hundreds of chunks and forcing them to load all the same time can crash the game (or the server you play on). And if you just want to kill Minecraft itself, there's easier ways to do it :p
This is an absolutely fascinating piece of Redstone engineering that keeps getting better and better the more you add upon it! The original nuke launcher OSC already blew me away (no pun intended), but I didn't even know you could add so much more to it, such as scheduling multiple consecutive launches and all! I also absolutely adore how much like an actual nuke/ICBM launch sequence this feels like. A completely concealed, underground bunker contraption that slowly prepares a payload, sets certain specific velocity for it to be milimetre-precise and as accurate as such a weapon requires to be, then taking it up into the stratosphere and *launching that bad boy away to obliterate any target and send it flying sky high!* Also congratulations for graduating, you have a lot of potential as an _actual_ engineer.
Congratulations on your graduation! The cannon is also extremely powerful. But I do have some suggestions for some improvements if you make an Orbital Strike Cannon 5.0, some being for a more powerful and economic cannon and also some for more peaceful use of the cannon. Suggestions- - Omnidirectional Capabilities: It's probably safe to say everyone hates having to build multiple cannons or go to the world border to have truly infinite range on the entire world. It would be very nice to have a cannon that can shoot 360 degrees. - Underwater launched capabilities: The cannon is quite hidden already, but all it takes is someone to notice some very odd geometry on the land where the cannon is to realize that there is a doomsday weapon below them. Having the cannon underwater in the middle of a giant ocean will conceal it the most. - Deep bunker buster option The current bunker buster is quite nice and all, but it can only really reach the more less deep bunkers. There a lot of bunkers at extremely deep levels. It would be very convenient to have a separate payload type that reachs all the way to bedrock. - Water/Lava bypass Anyone can just place water and lava to make the effects of the cannon completely useless. The infinitybore can already warp right past these sort of obstacles. It would probably be possible to do the same for a Orbital Cannon. - Supply delivery Setting aside blowing up all your friends, it would be very helpful for your allies to receive supplies even if they were extremely far away. Although this would be very difficult to do since the cart might just be destroyed so I don't really expect this coming anytime soon. Please add this to the Cannon if you make a 5.0. Also congratulations on your graduation again!
A lot of these features don't synergise well with limitations in redstone, like placing the cannon underwater. The cannon is doomed either way if somebody simply wanders into render distance while its firing, otherwise if it is not firing the trapdoor will conceal it quite well in most terrain. Placing the cannon underwater would be extremely difficult as water would flow into the trapdoor when it opens and potentially break the redstone which is not ideal. Bypassing water, lava or any blast proof block is simply not possible. The infinibore is a purpose built machine which tunnels sideways from a fixed location and doesn't work if the target area is loaded. The orbital strike cannon strikes from the top down and works whether the target is loaded or not making it a much more versatile weapon. Omnidirectionality is difficult to implement but with enough work should be possible. Supply delivery is actually a promising attribute, as you could make a remote storage and have it dispatch items wirelessly anywhere you need them in a pinch. But this wouldn't be achieve using minecarts and TnT acceleration. For this you would use boats and entity collisions or potentially wind charges.
You out yourself as a defense employee with the phrase "near-peer adversary" lmao congrats on successfully implementing MIRVs into your minecraft ICBM though
Congrats on graduating! And btw what an awesome cannon, it keeps getting better every time. This guy is pushing the boundries of what redstone can do every day. I love your videos, keep with the good work!
Hypothetically, if you could figure out a way to make this thing iterate through multiple adjacent coordinates in a grid pattern with stab charges it could be used to automate perimeter construction.
I've said this as a sub-comment already, and I'm not sure what your life plans are now, but do a PhD! You'd fit right in. Your research, exploration, understanding of complex phenomena, problem solving, and communication skills all will translate extremely well - I honestly thought you were doing one already from the way you talk.
Now I really wonder the possibility to send an entity with a similar cannon at any coordinates. Could either be sending a lama with a chest to send stuff anywhere or sending some monsters (Or an alternative chunk ban which is far more dangerous, tho I'm not even sure if chunk banning even work in version after 1.17)
In JKM's video about making a perimeter on world's border, he used a similar cannon using entity collisions in lazy chuncks to launch a pig to the nether "world border". You should check it out
@@grimmsoul3096 Well with a potion of the turtle master you can tank up to 80% of the damage, this + maximum blast protection perhaps could let you survive
Such a weapon would definitely be removed by admins if it were utilised that’s scary honestly. Completely OP but if you did have it the ability to build ravines encircling the spawn the possibilities are endless.
As someone who is in college for aerospace engineering, I commend your successful education in this rigorous field! Cool bomb though, may need to build it on a server im on.
We have gone from a TNT cannon you have to build to fire a single piece of TNT a few chunks, to precision chunk removal and nuclear annihilation from anywhere in the world!
This is amazing!! I want to build it in our survival server, unfortunately it runs on paper though. Do you know what causes paper to patch it? We've managed to get TNT duping and bedrock breaking unpatched, so I would hope it is possible to also get this to work on paper by tweaking a couple things maybe? Not sure.
i love the improvements to the cannon, and congrats on the degree! however, the new version is quite large and complex, and also still uses tons of stained glass & concrete in the schematic. I really liked how you used stone bricks & otherwise only the necessary blocks in your latest version of the Infinibore, and i'd love to see the same treatment for the orbital strike cannon :) also, the multiple different types of payloads, and the piston door on the top of the cannon are cool, but if i were to build this in survival i'd be fine with less fancy features if it meant it was easier/cheaper to build, so some mention of what parts aren't 100% necessary would be helpful; i.e. i don't think the piston door & the blinky light ring are absolutely critical to the functioning of the device, just a hole in the ground & a solid redstone lamp could work.
Honestly I'm not sure if it would be ethical to make the design more survival friendly. Consider this the cost for toying with the fires of Prometheus.
@@cubicmetre that is an entirely fair point, and after thinking about it for a bit longer, i absolutely agree with you. the Infinibore has utility even in a peaceful SMP, whereas this cannon has no place in such a society. the design complexity is really the only barrier protecting the general population, so keeping it high makes sense for the design.
@@cubicmetretbh, if this gets popular enough, someone will play with the fires anyway and improve into your design for survival friendliness. Might as well do it yourself
Congrats on graduating! I'm on the same path myself. On another note, I'm just waiting for someone to come up with a canon that can automatically create perimeters anywhere from just one spot
These are all interesting improvements, but the “multiple strikes” one is what interests me. Could you use that feature to turn this into a remote perimeter digger?
He already made an infinite quarry, but I think thats not what you mean. If you change the explosion pattern a bit, you can actually use this exact design for perimeters, the only problem is that you cant make the explosions too big without crashing the game and due to the cannon‘s long charging time, it would probably take days of constant fireing to clear out a whole perimeter.
@@drdragdxI don't know about minecraft redstoning that much but isn't it possible to use redstone clocks to create a delay between multiple launchers, cannons (whatever) to avoid the game being overloaded with explosions?
@@darlandimm1464 You forget that the cannons have an average loading time of 20minutes, meaning if you want to shoot a cannon at least once every minute (which is still slower than fast quarrys) you‘d need to build 20 orbital strike cannons. Most servers already lag to 1 fps with only 1 cannon, having 20 of them loaded at the same time would be like 1M tnt which would definitely crash any server in existence.
helldivers orbital strike cannon in minecraft is insane like this cannon will most likely give you dominance over others unless they find it and destroy it. :edit: also congrats on graduating!!
Congrats for your degre!! I graduated yesterday in mechanical engineering, so I'm twice impressed you graduated in phisics too. I've got a problem with the cannon though. Everything seems working, until it doesnt. When the loading ends, i /tick freeze, and I can see the TNT is holding inside the powder snow, when i /tick step i can see it moving slighty in direction of the target because it still appears nearby. Then nothing happens. The target won't blow up and if i /tick step again the TNT disappear
Are you still in spectator? When you tick freeze chunk loading tickets can expire and unload the chunks without you realizing. You need to make sure you keep the payload loaded with your player when tick freezing.
@@cubicmetre What degree specifically do you have? Masters in mechanical and bachelor in physics or something like that? Also if you are fine saying it online, what collage did you go to?
I never went into spec mode because I was always in creative. I don't want to disturb you in these busy days tough, I will just be looking at your videos of the cannon to feel the power and the coolness of yours creation.
Last update, it seems my cannon can only shoot in the positive x and z direction. So if the origin is 4000 - 4000, it can only shoot in coordinates for
@cubicmetre Do you think that the orbital strike design may eventually become the most popular method for creating perimeters? This machine seems so much more efficient than typical tnt sweepers!
He has already created that, it is called the infinibore and he has some videos of it on his channel. It uses similar tech but can make insanely (like insanely huge) huge perimeters in a matter of hours.
I recently built the cannon in my Minecraft Multiplayer Server. But the cannon won't fire. I made sure all the schematics were built correctly. The chunk alignment was perfect, so was sub-chunk. The chunkloading was also working. But when I came back to check with tick frozen, the flying machine was not going up. So when I unfroze, naturally, all the TNT exploded. Anyone know how to fix this? Server Details - Server Provider: Aternos Software: Fabric Version: 1.21 Mods: - Fabric API - Simple Voice Chat - Sound Physics remastered - Litematica Server Paster - WorldEdit - Lithium - Servercore - Ferritecore - Noisium - Skin Restorer
I am not an expert on this but it might be that it is an Aternos server back in 2018-2019. I use to use Aternos and omg it was so laggy. Based on my experience back then I wouldn't trust an Aternos server with the cannon.
Great design man that’s awesome! Just letting you know that in excel you can add a dropdown menu option for that first cell to make selecting the cannon mode easier
Is it possible to use a players flame arrow, tnt and an armor stand to auto locate the player not requiring any inputs? Using the game mechanic where tnt lit by the players flame arrow explodes things in the opposite direction of the player who shot the arrow? Doing it twice in different locations to get the both the direction and distance?
I had the same thought and maybe I did something wrong but it didn’t work in 1.20.4 :( that being said I’m working on a different type of player finder! Will lyk if I ever finish
iirc, there was another TNT cannon using arrows to direct the payload, but there was an inherent degree of imprecision to the arrows themselves; unfortunately, I don't think the cannon would have the same pinpoint precision if it did use arrows. I'd also be concerned whether armor stands or arrows would load the chunk, causing the cannon to self-destruct.
@@maplebacon2724 AFAIK, trying to automate the direction with arrows would be at odds with the current delivery system. I do not think armor stands or arrows can load chunks though, so that's safe.
Could you have a feature where you can automatically program where the cannon is and have a map wall that can be used to track players. To kill a player, click a map and that entire chunk will be instantly nuked
Sounds complicated, but doable I guess. I'm a novice at Redstone (my expertise is in Create) but I guess you could start with observers observing the maps in item frames and as you remove the map, it will run an algorithm to automatically input the proper parameters in the chest cart and fire when ready. It would have to be small maps, and you would need to find the chunks, load them on the map, find the map coordinates, record them for the machine to read, then put up the wall to fire, but at that point, why even use the map wall to do anything other than seeing player heads, and inputting the coordinates yourself?
How far does the operational radius go in vanilla before the game crashes or is inoperable? I recall some problems with trying to strike targets too far away, at which point the cannon would take too much time to load and/or crash the game. p.s.: Congrats for graduating!
I feel like this would be equivalent to the pig cannon. Adding velocity doesn't add entities it just changes the velocity of the payload. Payload size would definitely affect lag though
First video of yours I have watched and I'm super excited for what's next and congrats on accomplishments give yourself some love for all you have done ❤
Wow, fantastic video! It's honestly so cool that you can build something like this in minecraft! And what is even more impressive is that you did all of this while studying at university! I can barelly get thorugh calculus, while you do such masterpieces 😅. Congrats on the graduation! I hope that I'll also graduate some day... you know, maybe in 2 and a half years lol
A little late, but at the time of recording this video you said in 2 days you’d graduate and become an official engineer! Congratulations! You’ve worked very long and hard and you achieved your goal, we are all so proud of you!! 😆🥳🎉🎉
You made an infinite range, pinpoint accurate, cross dimensional ICBM system in Minecraft. This is not technological superiority, this is supervillain shit.
Loved the video @cubicmetre! Can't wait for the next video man! Saw this come up on my feed and after having seen your Artillery Build, I knew I just had to see it! Imagine using this in Servers and Launching a Tactical Nuke in Minecraft! This might be even more Devastating if you had Fleshcrafter's Lucky TNT Mod installed. On that note, the 5× TNT and the TNT Fireworks TNT Blocks would be Plenty as the 5× TNT is 5 Times Powerful than the Vanilla TNT Blocks while the TNT Fireworks TNT Blocks literally make it rain TNT Blocks. There's Plenty of other blocks in the Mod that'll be interesting to see being used with this Orbital Strike Cannon. Belated Congratulations on Graduating University man!
Congrats on the engineering degree! I'll have an associates in Mechatronics in May... God willing :D Really... maintaining an upload of videos and attending uni is.... beyond challenging. Keep on keepin on Cubic!
Ya know, I almost always play on modded servers. I imagine one of these is way, way simpler to build with access to things like Computercraft. I know, I know. It's cheating compared to this majestic beast of a redstone machine. Could even just program in the ballistic calculations and use a remote to call in orbital bombardments from anywhere using targeting coordinates... Absolutely incredible work you've done here. Inspiring.
