Price is an absolute bargain. Out of curiosity I just went into Dell's website and configured their competing 15 inch "Pro" laptop - Dell Precision 7560. With [8-Core Xeon CPU, Quadro A5000 GPU, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD, 4K Screen, and 95WHr Battery] the windows workstation comes in at 10,570$. MacBook Pro 16 with similar specs costs "only" 6100$, and it's better in every way. AND, what's shocking is that's not even the Dell's most expensive model unlike the MBP. That's right, the maxed out Dell costs F ING 16 GRAND. (EDIT: Quadro RTX A5000 Max-Q because it has 16GB VRAM and 3060 Mobile performance, making it the most comparable thing to the M1 Max-32 GPU)
@@mini9503 you compare Quadro GPU and a Server Grade HW with Apple toy ? those are ECC memory modules, top GPU (based on Apple numbers their GPU is still a toy ).
yo I had the same problem until I saw ur comment, then i went and googled the prob, and then i discovered that i have the intel google chrome, instead of the M1 chip one HAHA
I’m so glad they did it. Just give me a modern, thicker, heavier laptop with all my ports and get rid of the Touch Bar. I’m in. I don’t really even need the power, I just want the form factor.
I hear you, I have it sat in my basket but I can’t justify it over the Air, I don’t need all that grunt but man it’s so nice!! What’s more I need to get my kid a new iPad, I could get two iPads and an Air for the same price 😭
We always have to save $$$ when it comes to Apple 🍎 I have purchased Apple Refurbished products a year or so behind introducing a product for about 1/2 to a little more and those saving make it possible
Same reason why I loved the suggested text! That was so helpful to me. I'm definitely gonna miss it. Hopefully with the next version they will make one with, so we have the option. I wish they just did that this time around though.
yah, my first mac computer was last years m1 macbook so the touch bar feels normal to me. kinda want to upgarde to this year's model because i feel a little ripped off by the difference in specs vs last year. i'll be missing the touch bar if so
I’m excited about this. One thing you’re not right about is powering more displays on the laptop vs the Mac Pro desktop. This laptop is powerful for sure, but this can’t compare to a spec’d out Mac Pro tower.
Been building Windows based desktops since i7 2600k and I can finally say finally a desktop replacement that won’t burn down my house from heat dissipation and 1 hour battery life.
@@brandonchutt312 in real world scenarios you would NEVER be at full load at all times. Windows machines die in 1 hour doing literally ANYTHING doesn’t matter what you do. I’ve been through enough of them to know that. I edit videos in premier pro I would never ever be able to edit anything on any Windows machine on battery power alone but on my m1 air I can for hours and it stays cool. Intel is about 5 years behind AMD is about 3 years behind.
@@brandonchutt312 the special sauce is everything! Also this special sauce is a big deal. Apple is the only manufacturer that has full control of what components go into their MacBooks unlike your Aero laptop which has parts from many different manufacturers. I truly believe Intel is full of BS making these claims. I don’t believe anything coming from Intel until I personally see it. They are not behind because of battery life they are behind because they literally need insane cooling to match a measly m1 with no fan. Look at Linus testing an M1 against a 9th gen i9. Also I had a 4900hs g14 zephyrs with the rtx 2060 and with all that horsepower I STILL could not edit 4K video without it being choppy. I can edit on my m1 MacBook Air on my lap and it barely gets warm you can’t say that with your Aero laptop no matter what you have you in there. I have built many many Intel and amd machines my last desktop was a 3900x liquid cooled with a rtx 2070 super and I got rid of it because these new m1 pro and m1 max processors just absolutely kill everything Intel and amd has to offer. I don’t care about gaming I use my laptop for work. And yes premier is perfectly fine and is pretty much optimized for m1. I don’t have time to learn final cut and davinci.
@@brandonchutt312 ummm yeah premier pro runs very well on a mac…. Final cut may be a little faster but that extra 10% of time saving does not justify me learning about a brand new editing software. Regarding the components yes Apple uses other manufacturers for components but they have full control over those exact components where as a Windows machine has no such thing. A RAM module in your aero is not the same ram module as what my zephyrs laptop had. What I’m saying is the operating system is designed in such a way that every component is optimized. How is Windows going to ever run optimized when MSI, gigabite, Alienware, and everyone else uses all sorts of components. Yes I just plug my 13” laptop into a monitor and i work if I need the extra screen size. No cap here I’m speaking from experience when I say this about the 4900hs. I don’t care what reviewer says what that laptop ran HOT and playback was horrible in a 4K timeline.
All I wanted was a bigger screen size but It’s so expensive. $3,000 AUD. I wanted to get it but I think I’m just going to get the M1 MacBook Air for uni $1,350 + I can get a new phone as well.
Lately i have noticed that the views are going down here on unboxtherapy why? For example this video was uploaded 6 hours earlier than the one Marques Brownlee uploaded about the same product. At 2pm october 19 2021, This one has almost 700k vs 2.8M the one of Marques. There are 4M more subs here than MKBHD’s channel so What the hell is going on?
The channel is called unbox therapy but he does not unbox anything anymore. also he is just reading and checking the apple website, anybody can do that. I believe he already got tired of recording videos all the time.
Not everyone, just video editors using final cut and some other “niche pro users”. Everyone includes students, gamers, average cooperate dude with excel and office work, and for all those, these are too expensive and useless. But youtubers will go nuts as they are one of the target demographics of these machines
But people who never ever even gonna buy a laptop that costs more than 700$ for web browsing gonna make jokes about people who use their expensive MacBooks for their job and earning money and call them sheep. They will believe their 700$ laptop could do more than 2000$ MacBook Pro.
They raised the 14” model price by $200 and the 16” version by $100. Comparing these monsters against the previous generations run by pathetic, tired Intel hamsters running around their wheels and generating more heat than the sun, it’s a bargain. For the first time, you don’t have to trade size for performance either since the 14” can be configured to the exact same specs as its 16” big brother in terms of SoC, memory, and storage. These computers are better in every way than the previous generation, and not just by a little. I think a maxed out 16” now is actually cheaper than the last maxed out 16” Intel MBP.
@@denischiosa4496 what? For 99% people M1 is more than enough, this is a product that truly deserves the name "Pro". You don't need this unless you do some huge professional task
@@salamd6979 I'm leaning towards the pro since I'm thinking of majoring in software engineering or cs and I get a 10% discount, either way thank you sm for the advice :)
@@steviemrsha I‘d wait for the reviews before buying since this is your first Mac. But I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed even if you don’t wait.
Finally! Now it makes much more sense for me to buy the air! Because the pro's are WAAY too pro and pricy for me. Before, the pro and air had little to no price difference, just with the Pro being a bit heavier and much more powerful (before M1 release)! Finally!
@@nugurimanideep I mean, the price makes more sense now more then ever, given the perfomance in cpu/gpu in the new macs compared to any intel/nvidia/Amd performance in a laptop. + the compact designe of charger and the macbook aswell as the aluminum body, best speakers ever on a laptop, batterylife, read and write speed of their ssd's, and fucking 1000nits and 1600 nits peak performance... Find me another competition computer which can beat that, without sacrifice portability and battery life!
Anti-Notchers are annoying...even though it has more screen space. It has all the ports on my 2012 MBP plus more and it is 10 Zillion times faster. I just ordered the 16 inch model.
@@carlhardwickofficial until it starts chipping into your work. then you would realize how hideous it is. totally unnecessary. a laptop screen is big enough, no one was asking for a notch. fact! stop being a fanboy for dumb decision.
@@truthseeker6804it won’t chip into any content because it’s essentially replacing what was the top bezel on the old 16 inch, that space is reserved only for the menu bar and it looks like there will be a bezel that hides the notch when in apps and not in use
@@truthseeker6804 It’s not chipping into your work idiot 😂 It’s just chipping into your task bar. It‘s literally the same as before just with a notch instead of the large bezel 🤦🏻♂️
So glad I bought my m1 macbook pro 9 months ago and didnt wait for this one. I love my touchbar and have no need for the ports they have added or the extra speed. Wouldnt want to spend the extra like £500 realistically either.
Apple hitting record sales from releasing the M1 MacBooks now they’re about to hit new record high sales with the new pros. And new AirPods it’s too easy 😂😂😂
You should bout the m2 rumors it’s just nuts … it will be the first real gamer laptop with crazy power From what I heard the cpu power would be x2,6 more powerful the. The m1 max version and a gpu power similar to the current 3080 in raw power but without some of the tricks that nvidia delivers (don’t recall the name)
Im still using my late 2011 Macbook Pro (the work horse) thats still fine for my needs. The only thing i had to replace was a button that came loose during 10 years+ of use!!! So when i consider the huge price on these new macs... when its spread over another 10 years of use it seems a reasonable investment to me.
hmm if apple really ever goes into cars it will be interesting to see what they could do with their custom silicon prowess in that area. interesting times ahead.
@@Superont that would be nice. No keys required at all and since the car identifies you it can personalize the seats, heating, ambient lights, services on a personalized level.
I'm a designer who does some video. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 15". First year of the retina, it was legendary at the time. I was forced to get an m1 mini this year, a worthy investment as my laptop was on it's last leg. Battery was 15min. Motherboard needed replacing. It's time to get back into the laptop world. Finally with a new MacBook that feels worthy of the upgrade...9 years later. I skipped a whole generation of Touch Bar, butterfly keyboards, usb-c charging, no sd-card... I have ordered the 16in Max. And boy am I excited.
I've been waiting for this upgrade since the beginning of the summer, cuz my MacBook Pro 2015 got cracked, I want to decide should I go with MacBook Air M1 or MacBook Pro M1Pro... It's just seem so expensive for PRO version.... They say Air M1 is pretty good as well
Not really lmao, an RTX 3080 / Ryzen 9 laptop would beat the shit out of these m1 max laptops any day while actually being worth the money you pay for, and it'd still cost you less, another year another garbage product that retards will buy. Can't wait to see people complaining about how these "superfast" chips are slower at rendering / cad than the equivalent hardware made by NVIDIA / AMD, especially if you're playing games.
@@Bambi-er6fd lol, trying running CAD on ARM. I'd like to see then try. The main reason people are hyped is because of the power draw vs performance rating. There's faster shit out there but they draw soo much more power.
I love the new laptop. I never had a laptop growing up. I had to go to library and use those for a certain amount of time. Till I was 32 I bought my first laptop(how embarrassing) and I was forced to sell my “brand new 2017” MacBook Pro a week ago to make ends meet for my family. I cried a bit when they weren’t around. Sucks because the only time I get to use a computer now is when I’m at work since I’m a Videographer/Editor. Crazy right? And I see these new laptops with the most amazing software and I just admire them. Weird spot I’m in but I look forward to going to work everyday because I get to use crazy equipment to shoot but it’s not mine since it belongs to the company. Wow I can’t believe I said all this. I was so attached to my laptop 💔
I'm loving the new Macbook pros. Now we can perform more conveniently with our heavy duty apps. I'm gonna go with the 16 inch M1 space gray cause bigger screen means I can see everything clearly.
I can finally upgrade my 2012 15'' MBP which incredibly still runs like a champ. My only complaint is that the camera does not have centerstage. I am sure it will come eventually.
Amazing, an 1080p camera, ports that already existed are back - magicaly... an anoying thing from phones reaches laptops and imagine that... a price increase. Who would funk it? Props to Apple.
Okay, it is perfect for my tasks of viewing video content like on DVDs, viewing and writing emails, viewing RU-vid and doing social media on Twitter? Listening to streaming music too! Seems to have enough power to keep up with my lifestyle! Of course buy the top of line specs but only 1 TB of storage, 32 core GPU, 64 GB RAM, 16" screen size!
Finally something for the pros ❤️ the only issue will be plugin support for musicians using logic pro x 🙏 I wish they could give access to install older os atleast mac Mojave..
I don't know if I will make full use or not now (I do some light video editing sometimes) but bought a decent spec for futureproofing. Upgrading from 2013 model and my work is suffering from it now! If I specced it better I probably could have put off upgrading it a few more years!
@@brandonchutt312 Actually a $2000 gaming laptop is fair play for PC gamers. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 for example retails for $2500 for a model that supports RTX 3080 while the Razer Blade Pro 17 retails for $3200 so in terms of price, Macbook Pros are not that far off. Game devs are starting to notice the potential Macbooks have but you are right in saying games are far off at the moment. The main reason is the software but if tech reviews show these macs outperforming high-end graphics cards then it might be enough momentum for devs to start porting games. Thing is, these devs are not limited to a single platform with many of them releasing games for android, iOS, windows, etc. Only time will tell if they make the move.
Ordered MBP 16' with M1 Max , $3500 going with Apple credit making 291 / month for 12 months.. Def not a bad deal for me.. This thing gonna last a decade if not more as my 2011 MBP still tempting !!
Honestly the average consumer doesn’t give a shit about the performance capabilities, they just want it to be snappy and look good so it’s nothing out of the ordinary that people are attacking design aspects. Nonetheless, this laptop isn’t really made for the average joe, the chips are made to be put to good use. As always, average consumers will still buy them and never even dip into a fraction of the chips power (pun intended). So for the most part it’s nothing astonishing to the average person when a laptop functions as they’d expect, therefore, more prominent aspects of the device become much more appealing (and evidently, unappealing) such as design, battery life, screen size etc. All that said, when you do truly understand the incredible significance and ingenuity of the M1 chips, along with the rest of the the machine, you really begin to appreciate the impact of such a device. People will always pick apart, dissect, and criticise the things they either dislike or have negative views on, more often than not without even considering the possibility, or reality, that there are: some, little, or many positives regarding that same thing. But hey, opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one (well, I sure hope everyone reading this does). That’s totally fine, express your opinion, the world needs it. In my belief it’s just good practice to try your best to stay impartial, which is still possible to do even with an underlying opinion about something. Anyway, thanks for listening to my TED talk, have a good day, study hard, write a book, win the Nobel prize, blah blah you get the idea.
I was trying to render 3D scene in blender on a notebook, enabling 4 cores for rendering would just turn it off from overheating. It always was overheating just from browsing and simple tasks. I greatly appreciate the power efficiency of m1's SoCs. It's my dream laptop...
People complain about the price because they can't afford to buy it, it's literally that simple. I can guarantee the majority of people worldwide would own Apple products if they could afford them, but they can't. So they shit on what is quite frankly amazing tech in 2021 out of jealousy.
What about the TDP for the 16" model? In the apple site it says that the MBP could be charged via type C... but what happens underlay? Its charger is 140W...
Pro tip: if you click the cheapest option, you have more configurable options if you're comparing/doing research on Apple's site. If you click the most expensive one, Apple doesn't allow you to configure the laptop to a cheaper version. For example, if you click on a 1TB option, the 512GB option disappears. This is also the case with the chips, there are actually 5 chip options on the 14 inch and 3 on the 16 inch.
Okay that new macbook pro, if it does what it claims, is a scary beast of a laptop. Was worried when I saw the notch at first, but glad you can just hide it. But 21 hours battery life?! Jesus.
@@dreamerspringswalks I think there's an option to hide the notch, at the cost of a slightly smaller screen size. In the stream there were moments where it looks like the top bezel is bigger to cover the notch.
@@xKayNee Oh, dont expect 21 hours of screen ON time. That’s not how it works. It’s the same battery life, as the M1. The performance is just substantially better.
This is what I was thinking, who the hell is this for apart from professional content creators? For the average user there is absolutely no reason for you to opt for this device. They need to re release the baseline m1 macs with the updated design.
@@TheWretchedWorld I mean nobody really needs any of them but if money isn't an issue and you want the best of the best why not, and if you're doing anything more GPU heavy this will definitely be worth it since the original M1 wasn't bad for integrated graphics but it definitely wasn't great either it was probably the original M1's biggest weakness
As a matter of fact, none of us here works at Apple and can say why they made a notch. One idea: The new hardware design will accompany us for many years, so space is already made for future features. So as soon as FaceID components can be built into such a display with a small depth. This also has an advantage for software development, since programs can now be developed in full-screen mode and already take the notch into account, so that, for example, menu bars in apps do not have to be changed as soon as FaceID is available.
I totally agree they should just phase out the MacBook Pro M1 they put that in a very weird spot as the MacBook Air fills that area very well, but I guess if you need a fan. Will be interesting to see what they do with both the air and that next time around I’d like to see a hybrid.
