I have the original and love it. Use it for touring. It so easy to remove and put in your pocket when you stop. Love the simple directions. You do have to be very precise with your waypoints when planning your routes and it does sometimes get confused at multi road junctions but on the whole it’s great. The new features look great. I will probably update in the future to the new one. Only downside to the new one is reduced battery hours compared to the old one but that’s to be expected with a bigger screen etc I suppose.
Thanks so much for the comment and I'm glad it's good for touring; I have a tour planned in June, and it sounds like it will come in handy. What was the battery life on the original? I hadn't appreciated the second gen offered fewer hours.
You can overcome the shorter battery with a permanent power connection. But I agree with you, the first moto is awesome, navigation mostly very accurate and easy to use. I've taken it to some of the most difficult cities to navigate and never skipped a beat. I do have the second one on order, can't wait to test it out.
I have the original Moto and have ordered a Moto II. For the riding I do, I don’t need a full dedicated sat nav, and I would never want my phone to be anywhere other than in my pocket - that’s what makes the Beeline so good, can’t wait to take the new one for a spin!
Great review. I have a few quick question though, do you have to keep the phone screen awake during navigating? Also how much phone’s battery will it consume while navigating, is it significant?
I've had an original Beeline for a while and found it frustrating on occassions. I used my new Moto II for the first time yesterday. There is no comparison. It is brilliant and coped with all those situations that would have confused the original (and me!) perfectly. Would definitely recommend it. The only downside is that it won't fit the old handlebar mounts.
I'm getting my a2 license soon (as my first motorcycle license), and I've already bought a phone mount and stuff, but after seeing the beeline and going back and forth, I think as a new rider I would get way too distracted by my phone. I need all of my attention on the road, but at the same time navigation is such a nice thing to have. The beeline seems like a great bridge between those problems, as you dont have to focus on it at all until the leds flash to let you know a turn is coming! Theres also the fact that it looks really neat on the handlebars compared to a phone lol
Remember also that your phone can save your life in case of an accident. Imagine that you fall off, your bike goes 200m away with your phone attached to it, and you can't reach it. I always ride with my phone in my pocket, and I'm planning to get this gadget to improve my navigation. It's a bit expensive and it's not perfect, but I'll give it a try.
That's a fair point about the bike being far from you after an accident. Having the phone for navigation is very handy, and I completely understand the concern with distractions. One way around this is to create a focus mode which only allows certain notifications. I'm sure you'll figure out what is best for you :)

Hey, thanks for the great video. I also love the bobber ;) The beeline fits it perfectly. One remark, at the "The bikes" part, you're recording in stereo and it's very hard to listen to this on headphones, because the voice changes from left to right and back all the time. Maybe record in mono when you use this setup.

Hey, sorry to hear about the issues with the earlier model. The new gen seems to do the trick from what I've seen so far, but it is still early days. I'm so used to using my phone on the handlebars, and slowly making the transition across. I appreciate the feedback about the music; I know it's not for everyone :)
Good review. If you use the speedo feature, will it automatically switch to turn by turn navigation when necessary? And then go back to the speedo after turning?

I think it's a cool gadget and a unique way to navigate. I'd definitely be into it if it wasn't for the monthly fee for turn-by-turn navigation. That's a big deal for me since I don't want to keep looking at the dash every time I need to turn. P.S. Loud bike, small pp ;)
Good to hear your thoughts, thanks for the comment. Ha, I’ve heard that saying for big trucks and expensive cars, never for a loud exhaust. Considering that’s the stock sound, it’s pretty thunderous!
if you are in "speed" mode, navigating to a certain location, before making a conversion the display switches to map mode and then returns to speed mode?
Misleading info about the battery: the way you give the info, double capacity for the new model’s battery, let think double duration, which is completely false as the new model as a battery autonomy divided by 2!
@@TheBritishMotorbiker no, I liked your review, but battery autonomy is so important for this kind of product that I had to highlight that the new model has 50% less autonomy than previous one ;)
