I honestly hope they do something about the Rollers because they're more meta centralizing to the tire meta compared to how Waluigi and Wiggler were to the character and vehicle metas respectively. Like at least with the old meta we had the Biddy Buggy competing pretty respectably to the Wiggler. With tires, it was and still is just a matter of pick the rollers or be at a noticeable disadvantage.

I hope we get more balance changes. I want significantly more tire options..

I think this is the cruiserweights' time to shine. Most cruiserweights now are at the very least A tier, and some possibly even S. This is the most varied Mario Kart meta ever, and I'm here for it! It's a breath of fresh air because most games have 1, maybe 2 combos that are meta. Ahem, Mario Kart Wii.

Being a Luigi player on my life, I love this update, makes me have better chances with my green bud

The fact that the first time I played mariokart 8 when I was younger, I chose Luigi because he was my favorite, and the ink roller because it looked cool This feels like a huge coincidence

Question - why the Inkstriker and not Standard/Duke/300 Roadster? From my reckoning, they're just better than the Inkstriker because they maintain the same speed and mini turbo as the Inkstriker, but trade points in weight and traction, for the more crucial (I think) acceleration and handling. Edit: they also have more invincibility. Check it out on the builder - any reason why? The Inkstriker just seems worse and I can't figure out why?

Honestly I feel like the using one of the characters you mentioned (+ the mario/ludwig class) and one of the kart frames you mentioned are all great options. The differences are very small so it's up to the individual player to prioritize surtain stats over others.

I love this game so much and I’m so glad they are updating it, I’m happy we get new things.

As a Rosalina main even before wave 4, this update makes me very happy :)

I like using Daisy+Teddy Buggy+Azure Roller+Flower Glider.

I've been loving birdo/inkstriker/rollers. kind of a mix of the first two combos you went over.

Even with all the balancing edits, I’m never moving away from my combo. Toad, biddybuggy, and rollers for the win!

Huge fan of this new meta. That said, is there a reason why Teddy Buggy is used more online than the Cat Cruiser? I assumed it was a Wild Wiggler situation, where an ATV could take tighter lines.

To be fair you can branch out in tire variety now compared to previously. It’s possible to not rely on rollers/leaf for most combinations anymore.

Peach was my main so I love that she's viable now. I will say, something I've noticed using the Cat Cruiser/Teddy Buggy is that the hitbox on them is HUGE compared to Wild Wiggler. I've gotten hit by so many more green shells while trailing an item than I ever did before, even when driving straight and not taking a turn.

I love these new metas. And honestly, if there was one that I would choose, it would be daisy with teddy buggy. As of now I do use wario on scooter or daisy in sports bike, but I should give these ones a shot.

The list of “viable” karts is way bigger than this. Even just yoshi’s class which was mentioned first doesn’t have to be the slowest if you use a different glider. I’m fairly certain yoshi on inkstriker, rollers, and the heaviest weight class of glider gets yoshi to the critical 3 weight while having identical ground speed and MT as the most ‘meta’ rosa teddybuggy yada yada. So if you find him slow, consider swapping gliders. The same can be said for pretty much all the characters. If you can’t exactly match it, you can probably get within .25 in speed and MT. But you also probably can match it. Cool video, but the game is nowhere near as definitive as with Waluigi wiggler and to say the meta is completely figured out is a little much imo. If you wanna play around with stats, use MK8 kart builder online. It’s been updated for this patch and it’s what I used to get my new combo.

As an Inward drift guy, This new balance patch has been awesome, I've been rocking the yoshi bike with Luigi and lemmy and dry bones. It's actually able to hold its own against these combos and I'm having a blast online again.

Love the video! I would love to request a video about inside drift bikes, though. Cause like, nobody uses them and I kinda know why, but not really. I personally use the comet and rollers with Birdo, but i wanna *really* know why nobody uses inside drift. Someone just explaining would be cool, too

yoshi teddybuggy was my combo for years and now its become meta? I love where this game is going. also the dlc tracks seem to get better and better with every wave

I think you forgot Mario/Ludwig and middle weight mii that have pretty much the same stats as luigi and iggy but with a better traction

All I want is a slight buff for some of the more lightweight characters that ARENT the babies (Toadette my main😔) to make them a little more viable, and maybe some balancing so that roller wheels aren’t the end all be All. I love the golden tires but whenever I use them I just think “wow, I wish I had the azure rollers on….”

Are Light-weight Acceleration-heavy combos still good? (Cuz' i still like playing as Lemmy & Issabelle)

Tire: Roller Glider: Cloud class 1: Daisy/Peach/Yoshi/Birdo Teddy/Cat cart - speed pretty low 2: Luigi/Iggy Ink-Striker - faster, less handling 3: Rosalina/Boo/Link Teddy Buggy/Cat Cruiser - Meta Nice, luigi was always my favorite pick :D

The Waluigi Wiggler meta hate is so overrated. As soon as people start using the new best kart combinations more and more, they will begin getting just as much hate. For now though, I think we can all agree that it's refreshing to see the meta change.

I'm going to stick to Peach, Comet and Rollers. Love the look of this and I've just always liked the inside drift bikes... Even if they can't do the quick Miniturbo charging and all.

the reason why waluigi was the best because he was tied for 10 speed + mini turbo and he had the most mini turbo out of all the characters so it will make sense that yoshi is the best

From the Wiggler to Teddy Buggy... the fact that the best kart is ugly AF hasn't changed a bit. Well, at least the meta has more possibilities now, and that's a good thing! 👍

The DK/scooty/roller combo is hella underrated

At least Rosalina doesn't look ridiculous on the Teddy Buggy and in the Cat Cruiser. Teddy Buggy specifically reminds me of some Mario Galaxy levels for some reason, perhaps Toy Time Galaxy.

In my humble opinion, Princess/Dinosaur teddy is better than Rosa/Boo/Link teddy, because pulling out that much miniturbos with princesses teddy feels like cheating

Being honest the tanooki kart needs a buff it has very low speed and mini turbo while also haveing really bad acceleration the only upside is the traction being the best but even then it's basically useless would love to see it more

I tried Ludwig with the master cycle zero the leaf tires and the wario wing and it was faster than rosalina with the teddy buggy the rollers and the cloud glider

And nothing has changed for inside drift players, its still just Yoshi Bike and Rollers

So sad that none of my favorite characters are meta anymore :( rip DK & waluigi

The problem with the balance patch is that it didn't do enough... the wheels for one... and also the lighter and heavier weights are now inferior to the middleweights. They just shifted things over slightly. But I think in order to get a big enough change, more than just stats need to be altered. Lightweights will always suck as acceleration doesn't matter when anywhere but 1st or 2nd you get overloaded with mushrooms. Huge speed from heavies also won't matter when it takes them a year to get a drift off, and they handle like doggie doodie. They need to change how items work (and imo should bring the fake box back, 1st place gets wayyyy too many defensive options) and coins are just literally there to sandbag 1st... and if you're me, 2nd and 3rd as well.

i kinda hope that by the end of this there will be a fair amount of characters and combos that are viable in the meta, with no true best combo existing and players instead having to decide what works best for them. the thing that always bothered me with waluigi wiggler was that it was pretty much only one thing you ever saw, players hardly had to think about what kart to pick because it was just immediately this is the best, therefore use it. It felt dull pretty fast, and also made looking at the map a bit confusing

Somehow the kart combo I used from day 1 (Rosalina and the cat car) has become the new meta

Waluigi The Duke is still viable with .25 more speed whilst maintaining the same miniturbo as Waluwiggler! Hitbox is abyssmal, sure, but it's still dope!

I know how theory crafters are. I know SOMETHING has to be the *Meta*. I just want to know if the "gap" between worst combo and best combo is at least narrower? That should always be the goal of balance. I like bikes....and seeing ANY wheel other than rollers. I like seeing real tires. It's pure aestetics.

I’ve been using Red Yoshi for a long time, not worrying about the stats and the good settings, but now I’m extremely happy now that his stats are one of the best in the game!

Lightweight enthusiast here, and I'm currently using Toad/Streetle/Sponge. Good speed+mt combo for my weight class and amazing traction, which really helps with the influx of so many slippery tracks. And, like others have said, skill matters more, so even though it's a bit wack, it's possible to win at a decent rate.

I've been a Mii main since I started playing the game because I really like the amiibo costumes (especially the Kirby one), and though I don't want to abandon my beloved prancer kart, I might experiment with characters and try out the cat cruiser and teddy buggy again! I had eras for both of those karts, but the teddy had worse acceleration and handling than the wiggler, and the cat cruiser felt too slow, so I'm curious to see how they feel now that the meta has been updated!

Yoshi-weight, Teddy, and **GLA tires** is a sneaky good combo that with those tires makes up for that speed difference, and has a HUGE up in invincibility, which feels more relevant than ever

I just hate how all the meta vehicles look stupid.
