READ THE REVIEW: www.electrifyi...
By now, most of us have either read, seen or heard all about the all-new Dacia Spring. When it lands in showrooms later this year, it’s going to be the most affordable new electric car on the market. Not by a few hundred pounds, either. This is going to be THOUSANDS of pounds cheaper than ANY other new electric car you can buy.
At Electrifying, we don’t just like the sound of our own voices. We like to know what you think. And since we started producing our video reviews, we’ve had thousands of comments on our channel. Some interesting, some helpful, some downright rude.
But the comments section can only tell us so much.
Which is why in this video we’re bringing you a real-life, live and kicking RU-vid comments section. Join Nicola as she invites Nichola, Sara, Alison and Richard to have a look around the new Dacia Spring - months before it arrives in retailers.
How do they rate the Spring? Has the cost-cutting gone too far in some places, or has Dacia pulled off a masterstroke and created a brilliant package? Will the range of just 137 miles be a deal-breaker for our reviewers, or has Dacia got its sums right?
Do you agree with our reviewers? Let us know in the comments below.
If you want to be one of our review team, let us know at info@electrifying.com. We’ll be planning more shoots like this in the near future and we’d love to have you along.

I have a Spring, bought it last June. I live in the heart of the French countryside with winding lanes and lots of hills. I drive into the towns, to the airport, shop etc. I absolutely love it. The range is just under 300 km in the Summer and I am getting 225 km out of it in our Winters. I love it. Defrost while I'm in the house, top it up at home. Fun to drive and behaves like a small SUV which is handy on some of our roads. No complaints at all.

The WLTP is 230km. No way you get 300km out of it, sorry. WLTP is about the most optimistic range a manufacturer can quote.
@alapar73
@alapar73 4 месяца назад
Belive it or not, Dacia Spring is the only EV which can do more then VLTP. On a longer journey I can allways can go around 300 km with a consumption between 7-8 kwh/100 km. It is a very light car. Has only 970 kg.

That's more than 180 miles which on a 27kWh battery is well over 6 miles per kWh so I'm prepared to call you a big fat french liar.

@@alapar73 that's an admirable efficiency, but enough video's show much worse range for this car, unless you drive at low speeds (like 60kmh) with very little stopping. WLTP is measured at 80kmh. I mean, every EV gets further than WLTP if you drive slower. But people want to know the range for speeds higher than that.

Why does it not surprise me to see Nicola in matching trousers and umbrella…!?! 😂 Yep: it's a *city* car, with that range. I guess it's selling point is the price: more affordable than other EVs with limited range.

I think the Spring is very well targeted for its market. It’s a small cheap EV and that is all a lot of people want or need. It’s cheaper than a lot of the combustion competition too, which will be great for helping EV adoption

Nice item, and good info by the people. This should be done more often. Invite a group of 4 to "feel" the car and let them tell what they think of it. The Dacia EV will have some competition in 2024 and 2025, with the new 200km range Citroën ë-C3 for €20k. And possibly with the Hyundai Casper? But both are indeed €5k more expansive. At €15k this Dacia is blowing the competition out of the water.

Give it 5 years when these start to hit the secondhand market & it will be great, they'll only be used as city cars so will be low mileage, what's not to like for a small city car or a second car for the school run & popping to the shops.

Nice colour co-ordination at the start with the Yellow Brolly and trousers and the Orange Spring. Just needed to add some Lime Green for a full house of Oranges, Lemons and Limes. As for the car, we have a Dacia already, but this is too small and not enough for range for us. Bravo to Dacia for getting it out there at that price though.

This is a shopper, a runaround, a second car basically, that could be the gateway drug to EV for a lot of folks. As a city car tho, the real challenge is still charging infrastructure - you’ll need a long cable to dangle out of your tower block apartment. That’s not the cars fault tho - I think it’s great.

I live in Romania and one of my friends has a Dacia Spring. I've been in it once with THREE adults in the back seat! When he first got it the price was just under 10k Euros including VAT. He uses it for a short commute to work and as well as charging at home, he can if necessary charge it at work so it suits his needs perfectly. I like the way Dacia have styled it to fit the corporate look of their ICE and hybrid cars and not given it a slab front like the Polestar, the Ioniq and many others.

Its good having people come and walk around a new car, sit in it and twiddle a few knobs for first impressions, how about them test driving it on a test track for their evaluation on handling and comfort etc . Whilst most people wont want a pocket rocket for nipping to the shops etc i think the acceleration is a bit sedentary at 14 seconds but having said that around £15,000 by todays standards isn't a bad price especiallyfor an ev.

The interesting thing is that the Renault Zoe isn't much faster. It has a lot more power, but is nearly twice the weight, and that feels plenty nippy enough. I suspect the Spring will be just fine up to 40mph which covers all city driving.

Was in for a look at the polestar4 and couldn’t because and I quote “ the car has had a few problems and has forgotten how to do showroom mode so people could start it and drive off . I just said this doesn’t really show Polestar in a good light and it’s a £64k Car. European car companies have dropped the ball and now foreign Car companies are giving people enough of what they want for a great price. It’s hard today to make a bad car it’s not like it’s the 1980’s when cars in the U.K. factories broke down two minutes leaving the production line and rusted and electrical faults. A friend bought a brand new XR3i Ford. It had a leaking sunroof from day one, a damp boot, disco lights in that the lights had a wire fault so when you pressed the brake peddle it was like a Disco light show at the back. After a year the same Car that was blazing orange (I think) was starting to fade I places and the rear spoiler was coming off. 😳😂And at the time this was acceptable. I hold my hand up I’ve said I’m not going EV till real world is easy 300 miles and a car sensibly priced. If that new MINI out was in S form was 300 real world it would probably getting ordered if it was not £38-42k 😮 But this for a city Car at that price, MINI last generation wanted £28k for a city Car.

100 mile range in real world use and still £15k. With the crash in used EV prices I can't see why people would want to buy this over a used EV with more range? What was the point of this video when the people didn't get to actually drive it? The 4 people were already EV converts anyway so was always going to be rather biased.
@MrAdopado
@MrAdopado 3 месяца назад
They are converts to EV driving so would have a balanced view of it simply comparing it to other EVs that they have owned/driven. A non EV driver could not compare with other EVs ... they'll just make comments on the range compared to what they know .. all other aspects will be ignored.

We have a Zoe (manual handbrake) and a Polestar 2 (automatic hand brake). It's far more reassuring to feel the feedback of the handbrake biting into the discs using the manual handbrake, so given the choice, I actually like the manual one. And it's far less likely to go wrong, and a tiny fraction of the price to fix if it does go wrong.

I certainly like the style and the equipment for the price. For me the main problem, and probably the reason I would not buy one, is that it is made in China, hence the price. I will continue to buy cars manufactured in democratic countries. Shame.

I think you might like to have a think about where 90% of the items in your house are built - almost certainly including your phone, unless it's a Samsung. The China thing is a tricky one, but we Westerners seem quite happy to overlook it when it suits us - iPhones, TVs, laptops, anything with any kind of battery in it, furniture, clothes... basically everything other than cheap fashion which is often made in Vietnam, Pakistan or the Phillipines.

Did they inform you you were sitting in a Dongfeng with Dacia logo, and the technology is still the same as in 2015? You know there's no 3 fase charging? As a result it can only be used as a second car. And not in the city because you need time and space on you driveway to charge it.... You also need 1 to 2 miles to pass a semi truck. If you ever succeed in passing. So weird not one negative point was mentionned. And you guys really weren't paid to act all this?
@sIightIybored
@sIightIybored 4 месяца назад
@@thedreamfactory6964 given they all already own EV's, they'll already have a way to charge them and won't be concerned about that. They didn't drive it so didn't experience the lacklustre performance, though as the former owner of two Fiesta's with less power than the ~60hp variant it'll drive fine anywhere but a motorway (and better off the lights).

The project manager lady in the purple, represents I'd imagine, over 60% of car drivers. No idea what most of the buttons do, I need air con and radio buttons and I'm happy. Dacia seems to have hit that perfectly. A great video of real people from different demographics. Bravo electrifying. And loved the outfit.

That was what I liked. We were very different people, with very different needs and expectations of our cars, but all very much enjoy our EVs as they do what we want of them. I found it fascinating that the others highlighted quite different aspects to me and really enjoyed listening to what they had to say. Off-camera it was the same - no-one made up stuff just for the camera and the editing reflected what we said over sandwiches at lunchtime too. Lovely people!

This car is intended as a commuter city car, and nothing else. If you buy it for that reason, then you're unlikely to be disappointed. The EV market needs cars like this now. We've had all the high end £40k plus cars. The EV market now needs to cater for potential EV buyers at the opposite end of the market.... The new Renault R5 and Citroen e C3will cater for those who are willing to spend a few grand more, and want more style.....

I love that they added the V2L functionality. We need two cars but if the weather is good everybody is going to work and school by bike. So at least one car is most of the time at home. The Spring could there be used as an additional home battery. As a beekeeper it would also be very useful to have access to electricity no matter there the hive is located.

Good idea to have a viewers panel, such a pity they didn't get to drive the car though. Probably worth repeating video with another panel of EV virgins once you can have a road test. Be interesting to see how the Kia 2 compares and its a shame we don't have the Nissan Sakura in the UK. Both would give the Spark a run for the money.

You say 60k charging points in the UK? Ok... I looked at ten chargers around London and six were broken. Also how do you charge it if you live in the 25th floor of a council block in Peckam? I have pre ordered a Spring but I am lucky as I have a drive and will only use it around town. But I know I can get back and charge it up without any worry. I already have a Dacia Jogger Hybrid so I used to the snide and car snobs make about the brand. But when you can walk into a showroom and be pay for one on a debit card, that's the difference. If you can save up and buy "cash" that's the best way.

This car, with 100 miles more real world summer range, would be almost exactly what I've been calling for in EVs for the last DECADE. Too bad it's never going to make it across the pond for anywhere near the claimed sale price in the UK.
