Soon as we got home with her, we had to strike out on a clean up job. Harder than it looks folks.

I understand the idea of the saw being on the grapple but it also likes it could get damaged/pinched pretty easy if someone isn't careful depending on the shape and position of the log. I am also surprised they are not wearing more safety gear but...... Great vid.

I think you did pretty good on the controls, especially for the first time after running the excavator so much!

It was terrible the first time lol. It finally started coming to me the second time I got up there. Today was a lot better. I'll have that video out maybe Monday

@@smithworx1091That’s the worst, jumping into a brand-new-to-you piece of equipment on a working job! It’s usually only us service technicians who can easily pull that off, not every time though. Lol

I own a small excavation company i run on the weekends and work for the railroad during the week. I’ve spent hours in my backhoe and in an excavator. Jump in a log truck at the railroad and can’t for the life of me run it. My brain is wired for excavator controls. The log truck controls is a completely different animal.
@smithworx1091
@smithworx1091 Год назад
🤣 it's like humans get stuck on excavator or backhoe mode... it's the swinging left or right with your feet is what gets me.

Working on the next video? I really really wish I could still be doing that work. I’m thankful for the work I can still do. Some days the body has a lot more miles than what the odometer says.
@smithworx1091
@smithworx1091 Год назад
I should have a new video out tomorrow of operating it some more. I will go crazy once my body won't let my mind do what it says.

@@smithworx1091 looking forward to the next video! Does that debris truck have an Allison transmission? It’s not easy if the mind isn’t ready to accept slowing down. Some days I need a distraction a lot more than other days. Appointment with a new specialist today so hopefully it goes good and they can help roll the odometer back back.
@smithworx1091
@smithworx1091 Год назад
@timl.9990 I'm not sure the transmission. I'll find out. Hope everything goes your way at the doctor bro.

@@smithworx1091 Dr appointment wasn’t as good as I wanted but I’m pretty sure it was a small step in the right direction. It’s usually a bunch of little steps that lead to a giant leap forward. Definitely need a win sometime soon though. I’m not even in my 50’s and fully retired in Florida, it could be worse. I’d rather be out in that miserable heat with you guys earning a paycheck but I guess God gave me a different path for now.

It sucks to have to use the crane to unload as well, but I guess there is no easy way to make it a dump.
@smithworx1091
@smithworx1091 Год назад
Yeah I would prefer it to dump myself. A good operator can have it unloaded pretty quickly though

Off loading this truck shows a weakness in it’s mechanical design. This truck should have had a quick dump feature just like a dump truck. It costs as much time to off loaded as to loaded.
@smithworx1091

@PurpleNovember Год назад
That truck looks like a real money maker! How did the hydraulics do on it?
@smithworx1091
@smithworx1091 Год назад
They did well. I used it today and I think it's just the way they have it setup. It's not really proportional like an excavator is. It's not electric over hydraulics. So it just whines unless you give it full lever action. Maybe that makes sense.
@PurpleNovember
@PurpleNovember Год назад
@@smithworx1091 Makes perfect sense, I know exactly what you’re talking about. That’s actually what I was picturing. So based on my past experiences with those systems, it should be okay but it may develop more leaks and be harder on hoses but nothing that significant. I have seen a few systems like that turn into maintenance nightmares until the system was reengineered. Re-engineering the system may be as simple as larger suction hoses or rerouting them.
