Let's be honest if Doordash wanted to do something about it they could. It definitely wouldn't be hard to figure out whose account was used to steal what food. DoorDash just doesn't care enough to do anything about it.
@Mr.Betonyou, You could do the following experiment: 01. Contact an investigative reporter with one of your local news channels and/or newspapers. Get both TV & print (newspaper) involved if you can. Don't rely on only 1 media reporter just like you shouldn't rely on only 1 app. 02. Go to the restaurant & inform the restaurant of this experiment. 03. Place a delivery Meet Me order for something that's already made, quick to make, and/or very popular from the parking lot. Choose a destination that's not the restaurant's parking lot to avoid raising suspicion to the driver. 04. Walk into the restaurant & announce that you're there for the Pedro Santiago DoorDash order. 05. As soon as the restaurant says the order is ready cancel the order. 06. Pay the restaurant the entire amount including tip in cash. 07. Wait to see if a driver comes for the order. 08. Meet the driver, explain the experiment, & reimburse him or her the entire offer amount in cash. 09. Call DoorDash Support informing them of the experiment & that the media has been filming the entirety of it. This way everything is 100 and you're very clear with DoorDash why the order was picked up by you after placing it for delivery. And you'll also force DoorDash to have to deal with this problem more than if you did the experiment on just your RU-vid channel. If the news channel and/or newspaper is nationally recognized by Boomers that increases the effectiveness of the experiment.
@@monie5241 thats what he did lol ... and the owner is racist... even so `150 bucks that he never would of made if he didnt have dd in place... that 150 bucks then pay a driver 10 an hour then pay his inusrance u dont have that 150 thats why he do doordash its 1.50 for all that!
I think dd can see if a dasher or costermers picking up. I assume. And he's just lucky to get the dd order on the dasher app and if he doesn't he just pays
I've had where dashers get an order then unassign and then keep the order. Never have I seen a customer use the pickup option as a customer and dine n dash.
@@justinshoats6989 then what if the merchant can't prepare the food and we need to cancel it? It's not a perfect system, but small mom and pop places need to protect themselves from crooked people.
It sucks when Dashers that have been on the platform for years as honest workers have to go into restaurants they’ve been to hundreds of times and get stopped by restaurant staff to show they’ve confirmed the order before leaving. It’s like a slap in the veteran drivers face.
I don’t mind. They are just protecting their investment. Crime is rampant in this country it’s a shame. Some police departments won’t even investigate this anymore. The losses will just be put on the consumer and prices will continue to rise.
It's not that hard to press a button, it takes seconds. I'm never offended when they ask me to confirm, I gladly do it. I fully understand, it's nothing personal.
He should have to stand in front of restaurant with a sign saying "I am a theif". People like this are on the platform while good dashers have ben deactivated.
I watched a pretend dasher pick up two orders from Chipotle a few months back and give the food to his girl and kids in the car and eat it right there in the parking lot
A lot of these restaurants park all the pick ups on a rack and barely pay attention and I've watched other dashers come in and grab orders and no one asked or confirmed if they grabbed the right one so it doesn't shock me
Nothing new. That's on the restaurant to enforce not giving the bag after confirming the order. Besides they can easier investigate that the last driver took the order when another driver shows up.
Honestly, if I was ever homeless, broke, and hungry??? I'd walk into a joint w some food there and grab it and walk out w a phone in hand. It'd be easy breezy in my market.
You're on camera though. A lady did that several times at the Panda express here, they got a good picture of her taking the food, posted it on social media, she was immediately identified. I know her, she's a dasher, but she wasn't dashing at the time. She had to go to panda express and pay for the food. The manager was nice and didn't call the cops.
@@Mr.Betonyou just sent you the stats but RU-vid thinks that’s racist so it got deleted 200,000 thefts by hockey people and 90,000 by basketball people. Take population differences into account and umm yeah im sure about that bud.
Stupid criminal to use the same resturant, to confirm is the solution, and never hand over the order, still hurts the resturant to make it, I've got free food from an order sitting and not been picked up and the manager asked if I wanted it, and I've been on route and had an order cancel, so I handed it to a homeless person on the corner on the way home
bro he's taking a real DD order showing the customer name, receiving the food and then unassigned the order. not only is he stealing food but another dasher will get assigned the order and waste their time.
@@eric4892 the owner shows in the video the canceled order for Cortney G, he doesn't look like a Courtney. Also if you order pickup in these apps they will charge you immediately the same if i order dominos to pickup, they charge my card at checkout, if i don't pick it up, it's on me.
Sounds like he’s just a DD driver and instead of hitting confirm he cancels his acceptance of the order after picking it up. Thats why some merchants ask to see u click confirm pick up before giving over the food.
this is hardly a New Scam.... i blame the lazy restaurants workers. do your job and stop treating dashers like they dont exist. click the ready button and the pu button. problem solved
I definitely don’t agree with stealing. I do believe these platforms should offer incentives from restaurants in the form of discounts, a free drink, etc;
Here is the issue…and this applies to everything and the entire world…people can complain and bch about crime all they want…but the country was founded on the same crimes. Until those injustices are dealt with there will never be peace. Stealing will continue. You can’t have it both ways
Nah I don’t want to hear that times are hard. You’re telling me people can’t afford food but yet they have $1,000 plus cell phones. I call bull shit. He should go to jail because I’m sure he’s doing much more wrong than stealing food. It hurts every hard working individual. This is another reason why prices are so high. Go to jail.
Wow! This kid somehow thinks he is genius now.😂 I always confirm as a driver. Every restaurant asks to confirm which is a great thing for them to do. Im tired of people ruining it for others. This needs to stop. I have gone for pickups only to find out it was "picked up". I have to call uber each time.
This kid was doing this multiple times a day, I guarantee, at different locations! He thinks this shit is funny. He doesn't even have to do this. He can just walk into any Chipotle or pick your restaurant and pick up the bag of food of the shelf...
That's why speaking English, you will see the difference in the merchant eyes, lol. Also, that's why restaurants are quitting contracts with delivery companies, others makes you sing or even show ID card. It is a shame really
Most McDonalds ive been to has a screen showing progress of orders. The screen also has the order number, doordash orders are on there too. The stores ive been to ask for the last 3 digits of the order number. Its right up there on screen. Everyone can see the order number.
Greedy man orders food on DoorDash, takes food, cancels order, doesn't pay for it = Theft by Deception ..... Hungry man does the same thing = Theft by Deception .... did I miss anything?
I would also post a huge photo of him on my business with a warning to other businesses . Shame the crook . I have never contemplated ripping off a busuiness for free food even in my most desperate times .
Owners need to take more accountability of their orders and make sure Dashers are confirming the order and not handing anything over to anyone. That’s not a Dasher.
I believe I mentioned this Pedro over here in my area as a driver they are having confirm the order before we leave the restaurant because drivers were keeping the food and canceling the order to consume it
There are restaurants I’ve picked up from where I know you could easily grab a free meal without any worry of getting caught. They leave them out unattended getting cold. I hate DoorDash
All these scams can be fixed, as a driver all need to be hand to me with pin. And at restaurant driver or pickup customer would have to give a pin of thier own to the restaurant to receive food.
And we wonder why our pay is crap folks well THERE IS YOUR DAMN SIGN. Jeez it’s not like DD wants to hand back money to the restaurant if your fellow drivers are stealing the food. Hell I had tonight a order that I was told hey guess what the order has already been picked up ALREADY. So next time your crying how DD is screwing us just remember it’s your fellow drivers who did this to us.
Ok so he's ordering the food himself and then he's racing to the restaurant and picking it up because I thought when you ordered the food and you submitted it goes out to a driver
Compared to the amount of damage a cybercrime can do to a restaurant or to DoorDash itself, this is nothing. Still, it's social engineering and must be treated as the scam that it is.
Customer pi king food is notjing new with no intent to scam mer hant but when driver shows a.d a customer picks up both driver and merchant dont get paid.
That dude is a total thug. Yes, I've stolen when I was like 4 years old and my grandma took me to a grocery store and they had open bins of candy. That was probably my first time at a grocery store. She said don't do that. I've never stolen a thing since then. People now commit crimes all the time. Traffic lights and stop signs seem like they are just there for fun. They're just decorations around the neighborhood.
This is not a new scam. When I was a manager at a Royal Farms in New Jersey. There was a guy that did this a few times before I caught the pattern. This was 3 years ago.
The suspect could just make another account. Its the restaurants faults that they dont train employees to push the confirm button in front of them. People are doing this on Uber eats by picking up their own food then claiming it never came on the app.
But it is not just Door Dash. I have reminded restaurant employees to check the drivers phone to confirm they are the correct driver and make sure they see the driver Confirm Pick up because of these type of drivers.
Also quick question how can through Grubhub a customer cancel an order after you completely completed the order and then received the food for free I dont get it, please explain....
I dont know jow the driver could order for himself. I could see gwtting lucky and getting the order once but not that often. Something else is going on.

restaurants shoud always make dasher/uber eats people confirm pick up and see navigation screen before handing food over.. if they complain no food/money for you.. problem solved
How is doing this different from just walking into a store and grabbing things off the shelves, you're acting like it's not that big a deal,he should get charged and go to jail, just saying he shouldn't lessens the crime, and it is a crime
