Finally you are embracing your natural texture. Light creams, mousse or gels will enhance the curls even more. Also, try to diffuse up to the roots, turn off when removing from the section, do not touch you hair while diffusing (as much as possible), to let the curls clump. This way you will end up with clumped curls instead of frizz and volume. Most likely you have a 2c curl pattern. Look into the curly girl method and India Batson’s account, as she has the same pattern as you. With time, you would get all you hair to curl properly. Anyway, beautiful hair.

@@thelidiaedit I have 2b,c which goes to 3a with styling. I take styling produkts in very wet hair. Fingercomb and shake each smallish section to get clumps and definitions while very wet. Then use a fine cotton T to squeeze out moisture ( so it dried faster). Or semi dry in a microfiber hair towel and then diffuse. I have found when the hair looks defined and frizzy free when wet, I will stay defined when hover diffuse. Her diffuser technique gets more volume, less definition. (When I want more volume I also let it stay longer each place and finish with color air. ) However my hair goes from defined to volume between washes once a week so I go for definition.

There's a curly haired RU-vidr named sophiemariecurly. She came up with a styling method called the flip section method. She recently posted a short detailed video demoing it. It may work for your waves/curls. Also I believe she's from the UK, so she may be using products that are available near you. Good luck with your curl journey.

Hi Alana, just wanted to say i really appreciate this video and i think your hair is so beautiful! I have the exact hair type as you and I find taming my mane so difficult which is why i bought the airwrap, but i really struggle with the attachments and just thought it didn't work with me. However after watching this tutorial, I watched a few of your others and you've actually motivated me to keep trying with the airwrap to achieve different looks!

I was exactly the same with you when I first got started with the airwrap and after lots of learning, practice and getting the technique down - it really has been a game changer for my hair! More styling products in very wet hair, plopping or semi plopping and hover diffuse ( for definition) will give definition. I love this look too. Beach waves is so romantic. But I’m lazy so I start the weak with 3a definition and it slowly just goes back to more volume and beach waves during the week before my next wash day. I actually have a holder for my hairdryer and move around it hovering while I do other things. I was wondering about buying the Dyson because it has less heat impact . I have to stop air drying because I can’t stop running my fingers into it and creating frizz. Love to hear your feedback if you have tried in more. Love your hair

Hi Alana its your long awaited video. I found both the Supersonic & Airwrap diffusers have pros and cons. I found marisa'scurls really informative and she really helped my curl journey. Embrace the waves and curls 🥰

I’m glad they finally have a diffuser attachment, but the Black Orchid also works with the Airwrap. (It fits loosely because the Airwrap is oval shaped, but it doesn’t leak air.) If you want to keep trying curly styling, I recommend starting with the much wetter hair to get more defined curls and less frizz. The curly influencers some other commenters have mentioned like Sophie Marie are great resources but my top recommendation is Curly Chelle, who is also a licensed stylist. (The curly community has lots of kind and helpful people, but also can get gatekeepy, misinformation prone, and dogmatic, so I really appreciate her professional approach.)

I ordered the large brush attachment that's just released along side this, still waiting for it to come back to stock. I only found out due to chasing dyson up as to where my order was. Don't know why they said it was in stock when it clearly wasn't. Desperate to get my hands on it. Love your tutorials. Your amazing

If you use gel or mousse after your prep it would bring out the curl on top! You’ve got beautiful waves!!!

Do you recommend any particular gel or mousse you know would be good for enhancing the curls and wouldn't make my hair look greasy or crispy? - any advice on products would be amazing! I use a universal silicone diffuser that I found on Amazon on my Dyson. It works great.

I just bought the new Airwrap for curly hair and I can’t wait to try it even tho I have the SuperSonic and I love it for diffusing I wanted the Airwrap w the big round brush. I had the original Airwrap and I gave it to my daughter. I didn’t know they would come out w the big attachment and diffuser ! When you diffuse it I would start with the roots first and just hover diffuse. Don’t do the ends first and try not to touch ur hair at all while you do it

You have beautiful curl potential... I can see it!! :) Perhaps just experiment with some mousse, curl cream and/or gel. Be patient and try to start the drying on gently scrunched hair (with a micor fiber towel or tshirt to not introduce frizz) and diffuse gently while trying not to break up your curl pattern. If you toss or handle your hair too much while diffusing it will create lots of frizz. Im happy that Dyson is continuing to innovate and happy they are adding tools for those who want to embrace their natural curls and waves. I only wish their products were dual voltage for those who travel overseas often.

Came here to say this too! I had initially fast forward to the results and then went back to see what products she used and none of them were really styling products, more like just protective products. I totally agree that with the right either curl cream/gel/mousse products she would absolutely have defined curls, like “properly ringletty” curls, which she doesn’t seem to think she has, but I beg to differ. The curl results she got were really quite good for basically no curl styling products and a diffuser.. 😊

Dear Alana, I ordered and received the diffuser and the big round brush. I am so lucky 😍 And still experimenting with them 😅 Not that easy... A perfect mousse is from cantu shea butter wave whip curling mousse, which I am using. It's lightweight and like a foam. I have pretty much the same hairtype as you. Not easy to find. Very glad I found you. You and your airwrap videos were the reason I didn't send it back. You made me work on it. Love your videos ❤

Thank you for your detailed answer 🎀💖 I'm still practising with the diffusor and round brush. The first time I dried with the diffusor, I looked like Hagrid 🤣 It's our time for frizzy hair to shine. The big roundbrush is awesome. I ordered the airwrap initially for curling, which took me 5 months to check it out until the curls hold to minimum 8 days (with only the help of your videos). I didn't like using the normal round brush, very frizzy solution. But the big roundbrush is awesome, in combination with your wrapping technique. Hope you receive it soon. I also use cantu leave-in conditioning repair cream, hydrating leave-in conditioning mist, perfect with the curling barrels. Lovely greetings 💕

I don’t have curly hair, but I wonder if using smaller sections, drying on low heat setting, and low airflow would work with your mousses?

You need to use defusers with a good Mouse. Lightweight hair products for curl body shine definition and hold.

Hi Alana! Love your content and admire you trying to embrace your waves and curls 🤩 As many have suggested, you need to use other products and techniques to style your waves and curls. I do believe you might get proper curls if styled right. I do believe your texture is close to India Batson and Hanz Curls. Look them up and see if their techniques and recommended products would help. I also like Swavy Curly Courtney. Another thing is that it will take time to achieve the best results and the more you style your waves and curls the better they will look. But let me say that it is a jungle to navigate from products and techniques. Good luck! P.s. it would be great to see your journey if you decide to dabble in it. 😁👍🏻

You need to watch curly guru videos. I've watched a gozillion. The techniques work, but I don't have the patience or arm & neck stamina to do my wavy hair as they do with all their methods. I can tell you with certainty, however, that you need to get your hair wetter, form the curl clumps with most likely a light-weight gel, & then dry the curl clumps carefully with the diffuser. For me its an at least 1.5 hour process that hurts my arms & neck, but maybe its for you. But if you do do this you **will** get defined curls/waves & cut down a lot on all that frizz.
