Blimey! The 500e is expected to be $52k in Australia, really!? I'd happily pay $25k, but the actual price is a huge gouge. When will we have sub $25k EV's in Australia?

1:11. Car and Driver article is about the old Fiat 500e 2019 (also ICE and hybrid). The new model is totally different (only BEV), and much better.

Stellantis when it introduces EVs to the United States for the first time in 2024 has an opportunity to go with Tesla's charging standard from the very beginning. Rivian just announced that they would join with Ford and GM in adopting the NACS.

Sam, That review was about the old Fiat 500 before the new 2020. It only came with the small 22kWh battery or hybrid and was a lot smaller. Thats why the review got low points. The 2020 and up Fiat 500E is bigger, and you can get the 42kWh battery with the 200 mls range. More luxurious, faster, mor range, bigger and sadly more expansive. I do like the styling of the new 500 and also the 600e series. It is totally differend than the endless stream of same boring sedans and SUV's.

@@chillfluencer Probably. We still have a long way to go, before EV's are on par with ICE cars. Not only the new price, but including all costs over 10 years period. What ever is claimed by some EV maxies (I am to) the reality is, that it will take a lot of years before the masses can afford EV's.

Come on Sam! You showed a review of the 2019 Fiat 500e, which was a compliance car. You should know that the 2023 and newer 500e is NOT the same car. Wake up Sam, wake up!

@@MegaWildernessno. Stop Compliance cars were a minimum threshold of electric cars that begrudging automakers had to put on the roads to continue selling their ICEs. Fiat 500e, Chevy Spark EV, Ford Focus EV (debatable), Toyota RAV4EV, Honda Clarity, Mazda's flop, etc Compliance cars are market mandatory minimums for CARB states

Sam, the struggle with EV costs remains in the high energy battery. While no moving parts, it is complex connections, cooling, BCM. It will be a while to build charging infrastructure to use EVs as reliable cross country machine.

Small is a relative term. Ever tried to drive in a narrow Cornish road with Cornish hedges (made of stone)...Fiat 500's are there a plenty. And for good reason.

The current 500e gets great Reviews and, yes its pricey but so is a Mini EV Too. The Fiat sells really good here in Europe. Love mine. Great daily driver

BYD starts with its sale in Italy. BYD is cooperating with three dealer groups in northern Italy: Autotorino, Barchetti and Intergea (through its subsidiaries Theorema and Car Village) will be the first trading partners in Italy, with branches in Milan, Brescia, Verona, Turin and Florence. In July, BYD's distribution network in Italy is expanded to include the cities of Como, Bergamo, Udine, Modena, Trento and Bolzano. In Italy, however, sales will not start with the well-known model trio Atto 3, Han and Tang: The large e-SUV Tang (here our driving report) is not offered there, BYD is only launching the Atto 3 and the Han there for the time being. According to the company, the Dolphin and the Seal will be added to the range in the coming months.

With the absurd prices they have announced they can keep their cars in China. Cheap city cars like Dolphin and Seal at 30k euro. An obsolete model like atto 3 at 40k. Not only absurd but also ridiculous the 70k asked for a highly inefficient Han. I don't know the price for the tang but I suppose it will be on the same level...

I know marketeers always have to come up with newer, hipper words, but station wagons worked just fine back in the day... maybe we're on a continuum that way with the SUV->Crossover progression. S'pose you could "sex it up", with some prefixes... turbo-, mega-, giga-, hyper-, cyber- eh? eh? ;-) Cybertruck Enthusiast discusses automotive styling... hmm...

I saw a Mazda MX30 Electric today. It looks fine. $73,000 about? Way more than a base model 3? I don't think so. I'm amazed anyone is buying the Mazda at that price.

The 500E doesn't look mean like a Star Wars soldier, and since I have a Fiat X1/9, small doesn't bother me. Gimme one to drive while it pulls a little red wagon behind it carrying an auxilliary battery.

The only thing that matters is the price. I'd rather have the Lieger quadricycle but that's insanely expensive at about €20K give or take so it's more of an indulgence of the rich. I'd rather Fiat spent there money on a better factory that's more efficient for the Fiat 500e. Or better yet, do a 2 seater version of that.

Warranty issues drove Fiat out of the US. Maybe being driven longer distances than in Europe contributed to this. My wife had, and really liked her Fiat X-19. But I think all her driving was local, city driving.

Fiat should also consider bringing down their EVs to the entry level. They had the old 500e in California, that and an ev Panda would do wonders today. If only the late old biss wasnt such a hindrance and getting Bosch to supply all the electric driveyrain at a premium

I have a 2022 Fiat 500e cabriolet IN ROSE GOLD. Only bought it as a vanity car. Love it and is much more practical than I thought, But the whole EV experience is 1/10th of a Tesla. Software, firmware and hardware all unimaginaly behind 2019 Tesla. Take it feom me who has both products. Tesla have an unassailable lead over the legacy auto companies.

Sounds like the Avenger is underpowered and the motor is at the wrong end. Fiat should learn from others (Volvo) and fix that. Talking about small EVs I’m really interested to learn more about the Telo Truck!

The ICE Fiat 500 is very cute but it’s an awful car. Terrible road holding, bad engine & worse gearbox. Can Fiat make a good EV? I would be surprised…
