The New Floating City

Floating Plan And Design
A groundbreaking design and construction project was unveiled in April at the UN's New York headquarters. It is a project of the business OCEANIX, which was established in an American city in 2018 specifically for this use. It is intended to be situated in the port town of Busan, South Korea's second-most populous city after Seoul. It has been dubbed OCEANIX Busan, which stands for "the first model of a robust and long-term floating community in the world."
Prototype Plan
Itai Madamombe with Marc Collins Chen is the minds behind OCEANIX, a project that intends to build sustainable floating towns for individuals to live and operate on the ocean. The prototype plan, OCEANIX Busan, consists of several connected platforms that span 15.5 acres and originally provide room for 12000 people. The village can grow to house well over 100,000 people and will comprise living, researching, and accommodation.
Platforms
The modularly designed new city will have 3 main kinds of floating platforms, relying on their intended use: one for office buildings, co-working, and/or marine investigations; another one for public spaces, gathering, and communication between residents; and a third for "supportive areas for self-sustaining, circular economies."
