Love the new line. Played this map in the khaba right before the game with you. I ended up with a 200k game with no torp hits. Still a loss since my allies were potatoes as you saw. 3 or 4 solo caps. I like the Khabarovsk for its potential to distract and enrage the enemy through burning and dodging.
I run a max range build on this thing with sims and mordoff (I’d use rumble instead of mordoff but I don’t have him). I forget about concealment entirely and run prop and rudder mods. 14 km range on a destroyer with decent agility when you run the right mods is super fun. I don’t get a ton of huge damage games with it but it’s consistent and definitely a blast to play.
I managed to get the Z-31 from my first German/French ship crate and I have to say I am excited about it. I was on the fence about Elbing but this gives me a chance to try it for free essentially. It's very freeing to open up on cruisers with near impunity in a DD lol
Putting the pan Asian dd commander for the pen angles would give this thing nasty ap angles, as elbing can get some dirty full pens with an extra 7 degrees before ricochets.
How are you defending yourself from Destroyer attacks? I will be having a fine time getting caps, hammering red team ships but I am 9 losses straight against enemy DD's as the Z23 cannot turn fast enought or get enough turret traverse to deal with them. The meta is that enemy DD's are now coming straight for Z23's to either get us spotted & let the Red team ships delete you, or just run up and destroy you with impunity. What is the best approach to dealing with DD's thst show up at 4k and come straight for you?
I mean its just bad luck at that point but the twist and track perk, the half grey circle tells you the location of the nearest enemy ship so you can get a little bit of a heads up of where they are
@whereruaaron true, I suspect it's damage saturation hitting the front half of the ship when they are giving chase. Maybe switching out to HE to take out their front guns might do the trick or drag them to where blue team ships can see & kill them. I suspect it's the same issues that the ZF-39 has. I am running training room sessions to test various scenarios. I'll let you know what I find.
Don’t know if this would help but when I’m in a destroyer at the start of the game I usually position myself in caps on the edges facing away from the enemy team so that I can run away quickly and kite if any destroyer or other ship comes rushing in
I love my Elbing so I am very interested in this line. I am definitely gonna use my fully aggressive Elbing build with rudder at slot 3 and Bey with Mortar and Halsey/Zhenbing inspirations. But Elbing's guns have penetration comparable to 203 mm guns so aggressive build just works. We will see if that will work on those DDs as they don't have as much pen. You had decent hits so it gives me a hope but I guess I shouldn't expect citadels.
Thanks for the first look, I'm interested in these having always had good runs in German DDs. Destroyers that have to work on positioning rather than just smoke and sprint, I find challenging but rewarding when done right. You're teaching some good tactical play here, that's vital. Staying alive is the key, especially destroyers.
