All of the stuff related to the server always existed, I always go in the spawn menu or the c menu and press server menu to turn on the super gravity gun and realistic fall damage

I’m glad they finally added the Portal 1 NPCs, I remember testing out some of Gmod’s source game compatibility stuff for the first time and I was disappointed that I couldn’t spawn turrets without mods.

Go into [Games] and tick portal/portal 2. This will "mount" the game if it's downloaded. You will be able to see portal textures and models

Im not even visually impaired, and i cant see the crosshair at all, its just 5 pixels of translucent yellow which is basically invisible.

I like this update, despite some addons breaking. I hope we get more grander features. Maybe even a native implementation of Volt physics. Game sure could use a bit of performance optimization too.

@@PyroXain i mean some people just mess around with props and dont care about other spawnmenu sections, or some just use tools they only need, or they just didn't notice, there are many options in tools and options section, and it's easy to don't see a singular one, im a player with 900hrs and sometimes i struggle to find a option because i forgot about it or it's just hard to spot cuz its hidden in some section

Those server options such as realistic fall damage and HEV suit functionality were already accessible through the spawn menu, they just added shortcuts in the context menu for them

seems like they used the Crosshair customizer from CS2, it's pretty much the exact same functionality. same exact customization options and even the preview idea. and the "classic" crosshair is the crosshair from old CS, it's also an option in CS2.

Just a quick correction on the name, it's S&Box. And yes, he's currently working on this new game, which isn't Gmod, but for Source 2. Its basically a game tool to create other games inside of it- similar to Roblox, but Source 2

The "Classic" crosshair is actually named so because it's the crosshair from GoldSource games. GoldSrc games such as Half-Life 1 Deathmatch, Counter-Strike 1.6 and Team Fortress : Brotherhood of Arms used this crosshair and you could also add a dot, increase the size of the arms and make it T-shaped just like you now can in Garry's Mod.

you could always enable realistic fall damage since it is one of the options when starting the game. What they did was move the server settings to the game

I love the new crosshair! For the longest time I had been using an aftermarket one because, well. the OG tends to blend in a lot. A bit of a long overdue tweak, but a very welcome one at that. I'm loving the QoL Improvements lately! It's starting to remind me of the old days again!

Pretty darn amazing update, I have got to say. I only wish regular Gravity Gun and Supercharged Gravity Gun were separate weapons you could have and maybe we might also see official Portal Gun weapon for Portal 1 owners who have it mounted? That would be sick.

I don't know if it's possible to separate the two versions of the GG since they would likely occupy the same thing in the code, the best we had was the Physics gun which if I remember correctly with the right colors for your playermodel of choice (if it supported them) could look identical to the SGG.

@@cursedhawkins1305 Yeah, except Physgun is still just the Physgun. It's only using same model and textures but it's not Gravity Gun or Supercharged version. I do wonder though, technically I'm sure it _could_ still be possible to change the code you mention to separate it. I imagine it might just not be worth the effort and time if they are somehow deeply connected to each other somewhere in code. Then again, my point is here just that it's likely not impossible, it would just possibly require quite a lot of code rewriting and changes which Facepunch but might not be interested in doing.

Note: the SCGG ( Supercharged Grav Gun) has been already in the game by default, you just needed a console command to get it before this patch was released

the server tab has always existed, it just wasnt an in-game tab(for the most part), some of it was in the settings tab in the Q menu and some was shown when you click(not double click) on a map in the explorer.

crosshair was like that for ages before the march 2024 update, it was just strictly for the X86 x64 Chromium version of Gmod.

I believe the HEV Suit and Supercharged Grav Gun were in Gmod for a good little bit now. HEV Suit had to be enabled on the server setup menu before loading a map and the latter had to be enabled thru console commands. Really cool that they made that way easier now.

no, unless you have add-ons the only way you could manually enable supergrav before was console commands. are you thinking of when they did a pre release thing for testing?

@@thisnameisbad3609 Yeah, exactly why I was surprised at the comment but just brushed it off as maybe not remembering it. I only always remembered hearing that it can be enabled but only via commands so I never bothered and went for addon versions instead (which still suck sometimes because they are obviously not perfect recreations and also lag themselves while being used).

I imagine it still has checkboxes for toggleable options? Where the circles are for "radio buttons" where only one can be selected from a set of them at a time.

For the bodygroups, the new buttons are awful compared to the old checkmarks. Not by much, but it doesn't blend with the old aesthetic.

When you are used to something that suddenly changes, you tend to not like it. I liked the checkmarks too, though the new scrolling instead of being closed out of the menu is such an improvement

If you had Half-Life 2 installed on gmod (this is definetly not how you say it but i forgot) already before this update, if you used a command in the console you could actually already get the supercharged gravity gun, i did this and it worked but i actually never saw someone do it

here is a very very odd thing.before this update was even announced. i already had access to this feature. maybe because they've already started working on it before announcing the update or just.. i do not really know but what i like to do with the crosshair is i go with the classic, then put Gap,and Size to 1, then checkmark the box that says "dot" and go with a very bright yellow. pretty much the same as the default but more "high-quality" and cleaner imo

I was so confused at the beginning as I suddenly saw that server tab, asking myself if I downloaded a mod for that. + The new NPCs and pictures that spawned in I think the update is great, but it really fricked up my mods. Luckily, the vr mod still works. Other than the gore mod, it's definitely less funny getting caught by animatronics now without gore.
