@@ApapaneNui They kept updating both 1 and 2 well after their 'commitment' time ran out, so there is good reason to think it will be the same thing here.
Tip for new kit: always use burst bomb before or after fights so that way you can use it as a follow up or a finisher. They also can be used to extend the area that you can threaten PS: bursts are also gud at making up for dualies long end lag since u can throw them during the end lag and you can also use them for movement to help speed up the weapon. Gear: Some gear I would recommend is some swim since u have options for movement. Run speed if u like strafing(maybe use ink resistance for that) and some QR(quick respawn) if you want to be aggro(make sure to add special saver and comeback so u can still get your special even after some deaths or trades). 👋😬
Auto bomb/Booyah is one of the best sub/special combinations in the game and Hydra can't see play with that. It probably won't ever get to be viable in 3 since I don't see chargers getting major changes anytime soon.
@@Splatoonspyro That's not how that works. You can't woosh someone for taking a joke and making a separate joke from it. He didn't let anything fly over his head.
The crusty burst bomb and the clean inkstrike pngs on the thumbnail sends me lmao I personally enjoy dousers, I just hate ink mine on it. But this kit, It's a work of art 🙏
Giving Screen to Hydra is just insane to me. Why the hell would you give a special that hides your own view to a long range weapon? Even if they drop a change in this patch to make Screen finally be see-through for your own team, which seems like such a simple thing that should've been there since the beginning on this special, it wouldn't even be that good for Hydra still. They also need to make the throw distance on Screen longer in my opinion.
It theoretically gives the Hydra a way to mask its position so people can't target it with specials and long range threats as much, but then you don't get the part of the special where people can get hit by the screen LMAO
The only way this kit is good is if they make it possible to see through your own screens. If that happens then prepare thyselves kiddos. If you get close enough you can sort of see through your own screen if you position your camera correctly, as seen in a recent sizzle season video on Chara's main channel. Will test how difficult it is later
Hydra is a backline so they'll probably be in perch spots above the actual battlefiels people fight on, so maybe you're supposed to throw screens and still see above the action? Idk
At the very least, we ended it on an EXTREME high note. However, I really hope they suprise us with the June nintendo direct and potentially give us third kits. I'm thinking it's a non-zero chance, but there is also probably a chance for it to happen when they announce the switch 2 (assuming we don't get it next direct) Either way we had some crazy lows and some really high highs.
Nintendo president Furukawa already confirmed the Switch successor won't be at the June Direct, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I do hope we get a surprise Splat3 announcement in June though. I have a feeling it'll be a Final Fest announcement, but 3rd kits would be ideal. My copium dream is a third year of updates to keep the game fresh for the Switch successor's launch. I really don't think that'll happen, but I can dream.
As hopeful as I am for something in the direct, I don’t know why they announce it in June when the next season would be in September. Unless they’re abandoning the season format after this
I meam 3rd kits usually just come out of absolute nowhere (in s2 they came out after they said they were ending support) and also there has been such a large focus on the number 3 in this game that I would be genuinely shocked if there were only 2 kits.
@@pancakepower321 i mean, maybe? every game has had it's slew of bad kits - one thing that makes this season quite impactful though is how many new playstyles are being brought in with stronger or alternate playstyle kits, or just the new weapons (dousers, bamboo, decav, hedit, even RB gets a more fun kit)
The odd part of this is how Heavy's wall kit has been on the first kit in the first game, the deco in the second and now would have to be on the 3rd in Splatoon 3. It's the one that's swapped positions the most
Vanilla douser is already "viable". It's like a mid tier weapon, but the main and special are quite solid. Does pretty well into midrange weapons, which tend to struggle with their feet being painted and can't really hit it back at its max range, and its dodge roll is good at exploiting the awkwardness at close range that weapons like Stamper and Range Blaster experience.
@@daverius4189 Splatoon 2 started rolling out 3rd kits before finishing 2nd kits The first wave of the Kensa collection released on September 14, 2018 for update 4.0.0 The last four second kits (Ballpoint Nouveau, Custom Explo, Blob Deco, and gold Naut) released on December 5, 2018 for update 4.3.0, alongside the fourth wave of the Kensa collection
5:16 if you listen closely, you can hear the Dualie squelchers crying Also thanks for all of these videos, it’s made me so much more interested in the competitive scene and just made me appreciate the game a lot more. Here’s hoping there will be third kits to talk about at some point
I can only speak for myself, but I play vds and I'm looking forward to this kit. I would love for the devs to buff my main and possibly give it a third kit but, if they don't do that, I can at least play this. This kit will allow me to adopt a similar play style to the one I use for vds, which is about pushing up and supporting team fights, and stalling and controlling space. I think it's a win for dualie players.
I think there will be third kits - but outside of the seasonal update cycle. Splatoon three is massive on referencing the previous games: Kits, stages, characters, themes and story all wrapped up in the theme of “3”. Three Idols, Three way turf war, three King Salmonids, etc etc. Splatoon **3** won’t be the game to not include third kits in its line up. They will just come outside of the seasonal cycle.
yeah it would be stupid to not have third kits in the third game. they might come out in fall or late summer. not expecting any other updates to the game though.
Just wanted to say that I've really appreciated this series. I love the chill vibes and the analysis. I've always looked forward to these during every new season cycle, so thanks Chara!
We're getting 3rd kits for some of the weapons. In 1 and 2, nintendo said we weren't getting any more weapons than a few months later, boom Sheldon's picks
it’s definitely not a 0% chance but i also wouldn’t have it in your head that we are getting 3rd kits, i think nintendo wants them to end splatoon 3 as fast as possible so they can focus on splatoon 4 for the next switch. that would make tons of sense
If this is the last video in the series, it's been a good one. This series and your season reviews got me into making my own analysis videos, and to that I thank you.
I mean with the rare subs, aside from torp, it's 2 that are unwanted (mist and marker) and 2 that they're probably scared to use in case they make a broken kit (burst and fizzy). It kinda makes sense? More surprised that they gave 11 weapons wall. And the lack of torpedo kits is really egregious, I can't argue that.
New Dousers reminds me of my situation with Sora in Smash Bros: A weapon released in the last major patch, who has a lot of tools and can theoretically handle most matchups, and who I'll probably be playing and labbing. A playstyle who may revitalize my love for the game. I mean, I still play Smash A LOT more that S3, but the sentiment is there.
I for one am excited for the new dualies kit. I loved playing douser but I hated using the kit. And this new one reminds me of my old main in S2 the splat dualies. Long ranged special.
This has been a really fun series tho, I hope there’s a Splatoon 4 and you make this series again for that game, at that point it could become nostalgic
Throw screen in between enemy frontlines and enemy backlines that outrange you, profit while the things that check you have to get around screen to get a clear shot again
One thing about dousers: I play low level comp, and one thing I have been theorycrafting and want to lab out is the synergy with dousers and brella - the 81 damage combos with one hit of dousers, burst bomb indiect can combo if 1 pellet misses, and direct can combo even better - along with dousers being able to rush in while the brella is taking fire, I think (maybe not at top level) but these two weapons have good potential together
Dude yes. The Douser kit is fire. I only worry it’ll be TOO good, and others are gonna realize what an underrated gem dousers are 🥴 I wanted it to get screen so nobody else would pick it up lol
I can't be the only one who thinks hydra kit is actually really good right? Screen on a splatling makes so much sense since they're the 1 class who can shoot at the screen and still get value unlike any other. Hydra also has mine, which is a way better fit than auto and it actually works with screen. Hydra is a great choice to put screen on and this kit is gonna be great
When you put it that way, it sounds good. However, screen blocks your sightline on the weapon that needs to see far away. Unless they buff screen so you can see through your own team's screen.
as a hydra main, i agree, they mightve cooked people are worried about blocking your sightline, but custom hydra has numerous ways to play around it. on defense, you have ink mines to scout beyond the screen, while the screen helps wall people off from entering your territory. on offense, you can use the screen to obscure yourself and claim space; the screen lasts for just long enough that you can set up in a forward position safely, and then itll be gone in time for an attack. worst case scenario, the screen can always be thrown in ways that dont block your sightline and still give value with a 40 damage combo
@@bbborbo thank you for giving me a Hydra main's confirmation, I've only seen Hydra players upset at this so far so it's nice to see one that thinks the kit is actually good
As a Heavy Splatling and Enperry main, I’m REALLY excited for the new Dousers. That pseudo-backline supporting playstyle is how I usually perform the best, and now you’re telling me I have close range DPS, a dodge roll, _and_ a good kit? This is definitely gonna be one of my new mains for at least the first month of the season. I do think we’re gonna eventually get at least some third kits, probably in a single batch a few season rotations out. If I remember right, that’s how Sheldon’s Picks worked in Splatoon 2, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it again.
If there isn’t third kits a challenge that I think would be interesting to see is a challenge where every weapon has a swapped Sub (IE Dark Tetras Sprinkler/Slider and Light Tetras Auto Zip) and see which weapons would thrive better with their other kit’s sub
surely there has to be at least some third kits, i can’t imagine they’d just let weapons with sheldon’s picks or kensa variants lose an entire playstyle between games
Am so happy for douser's, the kit it got is insane. and hyrda(if the The sub is ink mine and it's not point sensor) in my opinion is not that bad ink mines help with self defence and screen blocks enemies lines of sight and allows you to charge up a shot. In terms of the kits this season is the best by a long shot, Only two bad kits and even then their not that bad, am really happy the kits were this good and it makes me happy they didn't ruin any weapons. they didn't reveal the tableturf card yet which gives me hope that there more kits and third kits could happen, just hoping though i could be wrong. overall dousers insane and hydra alright.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we got Recycled/Douser buffs next patch. They haven’t happened yet and normally it’s happened to the DLC weapons all close to/right before their second kit (minus Pencil and Edit), so it could definitely be possible we get smth for both soon
My only complaint with CDouser is that I wish they took it all the way with it being a cool Dualie Jet Squelcher and just gave it Kraken along with Burst like in S1.
I was already kinda down on hydra for it having screen, but I think mine might be one of the worst sub weapons they could've given it. Like in a vacuum, mine is pretty good on hydra, but they already gave the better main weapon mine and ink vac which is objectively stronger than screen. So unless you specifically want to play off of screen, there's almost no reason to use this kit over ballpoint nouveau.
Honestly, as good as new cooler options would be, I would prefer if cooler goes on things that already have good alternate kits to begin with. It would be very bittersweet hoping for a fun kit after 3 months of the most boring kit of all time only for your other option to be paint botting for cooler. It’s why if third kits come out, I’d prefer something like REEF-LUX gets zooka or jetpack or something as opposed to cooler, despite the fact that it probably would be a VERY strong cooler weapon with the right sub
The fact that missile is only on 5 weapons is just sad. I don't care if missiles are annoying, it doesn't justify it only being given to 2 weapons in the 2 years after the game's launch (it's a shame that splashdown and screen only have 5 too, but they just didn't have time to be given to more weapons)
really glad they gave the burst bomb to the kit that does NOT. have wail. i still think the killer wail damage buff was the most unnecessary buff in this entire game
One thing I don’t get is why does everyone say dousers strafe speed is so good when it’s slower than splat Dualies even with *2 mains of run speed* it’s slower
im a midlevel hydra player chydra is so much better then the hydra Booyah takes you out of your charge so it makes it easier to be rushed Hydra doesn't struggle that much to play with its team cause goes infront of you and then you kill everyone Hydra is honestly a pretty solid weapon rn. Its not that bad splatoon 2 just gave hydra the connotation of being a bad main weapon cause it was in splatoon 2 but its fine in splatoon 3 Hydra wants to be in a fight heavy meta cause you're team takes a fight and you get your charge and then kill everyone there are also very few specials that hard counter hydra really only missiles now
I just want hydra to be a weapon that idnt usrd so skill-lesly and people with skill on the weapon also used it brcause people just sit back the whole gamemodt of the time
@@flango348 yes although an anchor ,chara stated in the video that some people can have mire aggressive positions, I'm more talking about players who use it with no skill
