Nice video 👏🏻 Good to see the green dial getting coverage. A surprising amount of hate & haters 👹 in these comments, relax everyone… if you don’t have enough money to buy this watch or you do and choose not to invest your money in this particular model, it’s cool… just chill out and try not to make this great hobby a toxic environment, especially by using price as your sole argument 🤦♂️ IMO the Mark XX is an outstanding evolution of a model line that is now packed with well executed refinements. Better 1/4 indices, better numeral and dial spacing, better lug shapes, smaller lug width, 5-day power reserve, quick change straps, etc. all make for a better version than the previous XVIII for $500 more. It wears better too. And the best strap you didn’t mention or show is the new rubber versions. It’s a near perfect daily wear piece on the rubber strap IMO.
Completely agree. I was in the store for another watch from another brand and saw the black one. I was hooked right away. The proportions are outstanding, almost perfect. This model is pure emotion! Get the one that you like and stop talking about the price.
every time I want to buy a cheaper watch, I just watch this video and I am able to it off so I can save up the money to get a mark xx some day. IWC is my favorite brand and this spec is the mark I've been waiting for!
the dial looks sharper and overall more refined. 40mm is the sweet spot. I like each of the 3 colours shown - perhaps black on black is a slight preference...thx T&T - keep 'em coming...
Mark XX Beautiful watch - decided to go with IWC Big Pilot 43 Blue dial - liked the fit . Size and the clean dial without date. Absolutely stunning my new everyday watch replacing my Tag Heuer.
I have a blue Mark XIIX with bracelet and love the look. The Mark XX looks very similar to me. The power reserve of the XIIX means I need to wind it every morning, which is a bit annoying. I notice the difference when I wear my white birch that I can wear for over 2 weeks without needing a wind.
I saw video on youtube that mark 20 has jumping time change when occasionally pull out crown. It seems to have significant defects. I hope they fixed it.
Rhodium hands, polished bezel and polish links on bracelets. Blue and Green looks at home with all of those finishing. The question is does ti work with a matte black dial?
I absolutely love all the changes, but I wish they had changed out that plane on the case back for something cooler, OR made it a display case back and ditched it completely. Everything else is perfect. I also love that they came out with a green model, and the blue is gorgeous.
The plane is an aircraft that was used extensively by the Luftwaffe. I understand IWC's history of supplying watches to both sides, but this particular caseback homage was not necessary.
@@thegraciefighter102 hmmm have you seen it in person? I'd also tend to go for a brushed one. Would be nice to have the option.. bracelet looks incredible.
Nice upgrade. Compared to my XVIII thought I much prefer the preview date. With white font on black back fits in so much better. I also like the fully brushed previous bracelet. Otherwise the mechanism is the big upgrade which is great
I love the green dial change according to dial's position. The in house movements need time to be proved as rugged and accurate. I don't mind the Mark XVIII as it is a beautiful watch. From IWC I like the most the Portuguese Chronograph which for me is 'the watch'.
120 hours power reserve 🤔 just like the Oris 400 calibre 🤔 and they both have a problem with the hour hand twitching when you push the crown back in after adjusting the time 🤔 that’s a amazing coincidence for a “in house “ calibre 🤔
Oh boy!!! I tried the version with metal bracelet and could not let it go…easily… Even my son, who doesn’t care usually, just loved the watch… sorting mortgage first 😢and then I start saving for this baby 😅😅!!! Note: apparently, it should be possible to adapt 3rd party leather straps tbc
@@perudolux would be nice, but I do like normal spring bars and quality straps (I love Bulang and Sons. They make really good straps and have lots of variety) P.s. I tried the Mark xx and the strap change felt a little awkward to use .. also I rarely change up the straps or bracelets, so I don't think we're missing out with our mark 16...I think in many ways it's better than the new xx
Really wish they would have kept the black date window and black sword hands. That’s the only thing that’s keeping me from getting the mark 20 over the 18.
I was excited about the quick change system, but the new straps are a huge downgrade in quality from the XVIII. They just feel cheap, also not a fan of the blue with blue. Also, don’t think they’ve really fixed the date disk. It’s slightly better, but it’s still not right. No one is going to convince me richemont didn’t remove the black disk for anything other than cost cutting. PR is a definite win though from the Richemont calibre.
I ended up buying the old XVIII strap for my XX for the reasons you state. The new strap is pretty bad. As far as the white date disk, I think it works much better as it visually balances the dial.
Im curious. What is up with watch brands competing who has the highest power reserve? For me, anything beyond 2 days is just overkill. You either wear your watch daily or you have a watch rotation beyond the power reserve of the watch. In either scenario, 2 days is the sweet spot. I guess this would work in a collection of 3 to 5 watches total. Love the nice and simple design, but pretty high price to pay. 😅
2 days isn't enough. Short by at least a full 24 hours. I have plenty of watches to rotate through but taking a watch off your wrist on Friday to have it dead-stopped on Sunday afternoon, to then have to reset the time and date Monday morning is not a good experience. And the time keeping accuracy of a watch with a two day power reserve is horrible. Almost every mechanical watch will not keep good time if you do not have a certain amount force being applied by the barrel and a two day PR doesn't cut it for accuracy on that second day as it gets low.
I didn't think I'd care about the 5-day power reserve until I had it. Being able to wear something else for a few days and come back to this one humming along is pretty cool.
I rotate through 22 watches (theyre mostly seikos because im not rich 😅) that's why hefty power reserves don't really apply to me. I see your points though. Thanks for shedding some perspective on my opinion. 😊
IWC, slide the '9' and the date window 0.7 mm to the right, L2L 48mm height, then you have an almost perfect watch, at least a better proportion. Thanks.
The Mark XIII looks better. This is a nice watch. A dress watch inspired by a pilot watch. The polished areas and more condensed look of the dial are a disappointing change. The toolish nature is mostly lost. That said, in green or blue, it's a beautiful sporty dress watch. Upgrade the XIII's bracelet and movement, leave the date window black: )
@@coffeeboyclips1973 because they’re making a huge deal out of something which it is not. I’m not saying the ValFleurier is bad - but don’t label it in house if it isn’t. That’s all
@@coffeeboyclips1973 this information is widely available online when you look into the movement and it’s widely reported that it’s a ValFleurier movement. It isn’t a secret
Mismatched date wheel is a deal-breaker - as is the polished links on the bracelet version. Sure it's an upgrade internally, but visibly this is a downgrade.
For this dial design, with the bold white numerals, a white date wheel offers a necessary balance. The black date wheel on the black XVIII leaves an awkward visual gap at 3 o'clock and I like that it's been corrected here.
@@MeestroDavid I a perfect world they could match the size of the date indicator with the size of the hour arabics like Oris does with their big date and maintain perfect symmetry with a black date wheel, but that doesn't really go with the history of the mark series. As it stands I still prefer the date on the XVIII, but I can see what you're saying. They'll win some and lose some with that change I suspect.
I would actually get one of these, if it was sub-5000€ - but it's not, hence I just think for such a simplistic watch, a Tudor is just better value for money.
Problem with tudor is the brand prestige, you will always feel you are wearing a budget Rolex copy, save up for the iwc, it will be worth it in the long run.
IWC is still overpriced as hell. Now we get ETA based movements for 6k... Talk about history and design of the watches all you want, they are so overpriced its almost fraud.
@@evh4611 It is all just Marketing hype and the so called "history" of a watch that is a generic Flieger watch. Lots of people seem to only look at the brand name. If you want a Flieger watch that is worth its money, there are tons of options.
@@evh4611 Laco or Stowa are great watches; if you want inhouse movements and a bit more quality, look for the discontinued Flieger models by Glashütte Original.
yeah I never got the Mark series. The have always seemed to me like a bland, homogenized version of the "proper" IWC watches, like the cheapened version if you cant afford the real thing.
@@Hans-Georg_Buddne how is a Rolex oyster on a different level, I've owned an OP and personally find my mark 18 is a better watch, get both watches and put them side by side and you will realise how good the iwc is.
@@coffeeboyclips1973 So you think a cool looking, shiny case and dial is where the production cost of a watch lies? Wrong! It is the movement, everything else is irrelevant in terms of value for money. Nothing wrong with liking the IWC design, but the movements make the watches a rip off.
@@Hans-Georg_Buddne so how much does it cost to manufacture an in house movement vs a non in house movement, so let's say the movement in a Rolex oyster vs the iwc movement. A rolex op probably costs less than £500 to make.
