you know what would have been a cool 80's sports car to get like this? the Testarossa, i think the overall shaping lends itself to be translated to brick for very well. and it is a sports car icon not yeat realised by Lego. also too many white cars, and i think if they were to make this car, they should have made it in yellow or blue or something like that as well.

I do get your criticism on this. As a lamborghini fan and growing up dreaming about the countach i also saw some slight imperfections. Hell even the sian 1:8th scale isn't 100% perfect either but as im sure alot of people will argue on here it is a lego set and a limit to material itself. If you want 100% accuracy buy a high end resin model. I honestly think they did a fine job on it myself and will most likely buy it next month.

i managed to make a vector w8 alternate build from the speed champions countach with working pop down headlights, so to see this have no pop ups is a huge let down for me

I agree, the model doesn't even have pop-up headlights, but it is clean and seemingly full of interesting techniques

My only complaint is there's no form of representation for the popups.

Looking at those rear lights, those are the proportions and angles of LEGO bricks. If they'd made it wider to fit the rear lights, the height/width proportions would've been off. If they made it higher, the wheel size would've been off. LEGO is a brick based system. It's going to follow the lines of the bricks.

No flip up lights in the front! They didn't even give stickers for it like they did on the speed champions version.

I am also underwhelemed after seeing the announcement photos. I was excited when it was announced, but as you have pointed out, the proportions somehow seem out of sync with the real car. I am happy with my Speed Champions Countach for now. Maybe when this icons sets becomes heavily discounted, I would reconsider...

Don't hold anything back, Clever One! I really like your zest in this one. I'll take honest criticism over gushing any day. I'm a little less demanding for verisimilitude in Lego models, myself, though. I like a few exposed studs and clunky corners to remind me I'm building a Lego set and not a Revell kit. I just picked up the Speed Champions Countach. What did you think of that one? Clearly not as much detail in 1:24 scale.

I'll be honest none of them ever look 100% to me but I mean it's made out of Lego and they're using parts that they already have it's not like they're making special parts for this build. sometimes they do but either way it honestly looks like a kit car Lamborghini. it looks like the kit that you can get and build on a Fiero. Lol you know what I'm talking about😂😂

I agree, Lego really dropped the ball here. The hood-to-windshield transition, the rear lights, and the low steering wheel are the worst parts. And before anyone objects that you can't expect perfection from Lego bricks, note that Firas' Porsche B-model Countach and ZetoVince's more recent MOC both do a far better job of it. At discount though, the new set could be a good parts pack for making either a better Countach or the modern 2021 version.

The Countach could already be Moc'd out of the Porsche set.

I think your points are fairly specific, I however have two issues with this model that are much more general. 1) Color - another white Countach (after the Speed Champions one)? Why not black, red or even gray? 2) Just the 5000 QV model. I loved when the Icons car had customization options. Targa and Turbo for the Porsche. Camaro and its options of differently colored stripes, convertible or hardtop and headlight options. Why here it is just a single variant of the Countach? Why not include an option for an early LP400 model, narrow body and without the rear wing? Especially since it would be so easy with they way they handled the rear wheels with dual tyres. A huge missed opportunity and what actually struck this set out of my "must have" list.

I agree. However, at this scale it’s verry difficult too achieve the curves of the real deal.

I'm really getting annoyed with LEGO. These Icon/Bigger size car sets regarding the front windshield and side windows, still don't have anything or they put something in place that is very weak looking. I know each set LEGO makes has allocated budgets for what they can do, but I think it's about time they introduced front windshield and side window, clear mold pieces! Let us be realistic. MOC designers are doing a better job on their designs then LEGO's hired design employees! Side note: I feel retailed prices keep going up, while more corners keep being cut! At some point WE THE PEOPLE will push back at LEGO!

I mean you just showed what I might have better not seen. At first, I was not a fan of it, but after some reviews I grew to love it, however, now I have such information anout its inaccuracy which could effect the way I look at it. Despite this, this is a Lego model and in my opinion a really decent one, by not making it exact they create something unique to look at too :)

I may be a bit biased cause the countach is my favorite car but the build looks amazing definitely would want this over literally anything plus it’s Lego it’s not going to be perfect it’s literally in every Lego set they base off cars

FINALLY someone with eyes and not just simping for lego Yes, pretty much everything you said and pointed out. tbh I would have forgiven everything, but the tail lights, what the hell happened there? it's like a hot wheels tooned take on the car all around horrible and is a huge disappointment for me, the Countach is my 2nd dream car and I was desperately waiting for a lego version of it. I swear to god if they f*ck KITT (when and if they gonna make it), I'm done with lego.

I personally don't mind the inaccurate details of the set. At least it is still recognizable.

bro its lego just modify it to make it more accurately designed. Lego has never been about being 100% accurate the goal is the experience of building it and the finished product not even the 1-8 scales are 100% accurate with those i can understand those nitpicks like the gearbox being in the wrong spot but cmon if you really want a 100% accurate Coutach get a model of them that you can build. Edit seeing the no popup headlights comment that is fair it should be in the set cuz its on the f40 but everything else idk man its not that deep.

I'm a huge fan of the IRL car, it pains me to see how Lego butchered it in the model form. The Lego one, looks like a model of a cheap "kit car", rather than actual Countach. And before people come and claim, it's hard to make it ok in this scale... I beg to differ, there are quite a few MOC's of it and most manage to pull the iconic shapes a lot better than Lego did. I don't know if the designer forgot what creative thinking is, or if they just didn't care for the source material, but this set isn't right, especially for the price.

If you see issue then solve them not mock who designs it?

Well, it’s LEGO, they can only do so much…..and their design standards are way more stringent than a fan designer. But it looks a lot better than the Corvette C1 looks.

The model’s not perfect by any means but i think the criticisms are a bit picky. Sure, they could have fixed some of the lines, pop-up headlights etc but we’d be looking at a $300-400 cost. You could by the Porsche model & rebrickable plans to build a countache but it won’t be much better & will cost more to do. Personally, I’m ok with this model.

Agree ! Moc’s are far better looking, even the splendid Speed Champion do better, and price is a bit of a shame. Lego did not even consider creating large rims and tyres for this. Meeh, ugly model.

I do agree with many of your points, you also didn't mention the steering wheel being on the floor. My biggest gripe is the rear lights, they are way too big and definitely take away from the look. I am glad they went European this year after 2 American in a row. We all know lego can never be perfect, but for 180 they could have definitely refined it more. Great video, loved the blueprint comparisons. PS can't stand the skinnier tyres they use now on these models.

One of the most beautiful car ever for one of the most ugly set ever... Too bad...for 180 usd prefer mould king Firas moc (bough at 30 on aliexpress) and a welly die cast 1/24 (20 usd) . And 130 usd are yet in my pocket...the only thing premium in this Lego set is the price

If you want a mm perfect replica of a car buy a die cast model. I like these sets (have the 911 and Mustang) and think considering they’re made out of Lego bricks they look excellent
