This is an absolutely gorgeous and ahead of its time camera in many ways, except that while ideally matched with Leica M lenses, it's functionally a nightmare to manual focus with it. Had this been full frame, with a built-in EVF, and a smarter way to do manual focusing with, this would have been an absolute hit, just as the Leica Q became.
I still shoot my Leica M2 film camera and have great fun with it. I have some terrific m lenses. Also I use them with my Sony digital body. Lots of combinations possible.
The M240 is my photo companion, but I was looking forward to a Leica made AF/4k system faster than the original T, less bulky & financially more accessible than the SL body/lens combination. I love the design of the T and now the TL2, the touch screen, the better (so it seems) usability & faster AF and the 4K possibility. Never mind if the built-in flash has been removed, no worries if it doesn't have a tilt screen, or if it doesn't have as many shabada gadgets as the Panasonic or Sony. But still no EVF? This is a deal breaker for me. I'll pass.
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm new to Leica and photography all together...wanted to know if I could shoot photos with just the body. I would like to save money to buy a lense.
Jesus, you can adapt old vintage or other RF - rangefinder lenses or even SLR or DSLR lenses with the right adapter. Thats what I do with my Leica T, I have canon RF lenses via adapters. you will save thousands going that route. And yes this is a beautiful camera, it puts a smile on my face - leica philosophy - minimalistic.
You can add a lot of lenses. One thing that could be interesting to do is to put on older Leica M lenses as for example the 35mm Summicron or 50mm Summicron f/2.0 "Rigid" ($500 or so) and thus get real Leica quality and look. Then work your way from there.
I was waiting for this video for a long time, and for the upcoming one. I have a T and the question is to get the TL2 or not. The T is slow... Thanks !
Great video ,as usual!! I found very funny about the 4.5hrs drive trip to just to see some burros. I think that kind of disappointing trip has happened to everybody. When that happens to me , at least I try to have some fun taking unusual photos
Hope to see your full review soon, but if I really like Leica IQ, can this B my first camera? I like M10 but this has 4K and "cheaper" price tag and it has great body design too, just I'm not sure how's the shooting experiences with it
Hi! Disregarding the price, TL2 or SL? I rarely print my photos. Most of the time it just goes on instagram. Will i be able to see a photo quality difference?
Raw images give you a significant amount of adjustment in processing , if your going to shoot Jpeg and do no processing the only advantage over your phone is focal length/lens selection + DOF( depth of field).
I would advise against the M10 as well, it is an incredibly overpriced camera, quite like the SL, and offers no practical advantages over the competitors at its price range. But, it's your money, so do as you wish. Having said that, another factor with the M10 is that this camera, being a rangefinder, is quite difficult to use. Try shooting with it before buying it. It is a beautiful camera and indisputably the experience of using it with non moving subjects when you have a plenty of time to compose and focus is great. But achieving a high keeper rate in any other situation might be quite hard. Have you already ruled out the Sony cameras?
2017 now and the TL still looks like the nex. Seems like it gets more and more difficult to understand which direction Leica wants to go these days. Don't get me wrong, I am a Lecia M user, and it's exactly because of this I'm hugely disappointed by this camera. Just like the M10, yes M10 is a great camera and all, but only if it were to be released after the M8, that doesn't make sense, yes there are features that make M10 technologically impossible to manufacture back in 2009 when M9 dropped, and the camera is well built and all. But look around Leica, the game has changed. Be innovative, not conservative.
i guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tips you can give me
@Phillip Simon i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Love the TL2 look, but comparing it to full-frame top-of-the-line pro cameras is a bit of stretch. This, at best, should be compared to the Sony A6300, and for sure not the A9.
I did'nt get how you came to the conclusion the IQ out of a full frame (Leica Q & M10) is comparable to that out of an APS-C (TL2). And 5K for this camera set??! I thought I would get unbiased opinions out of your channel, not a sales pitch
well, i sit and ponder this... size of the APS-C sensor is 2x3 vs full size lets say 4x6 YET both are 24 megapixels..... I'd say, 24 megapixels is packed tighter in that smaller sensor...wouldn't you think that the quality would be BETTER......but what they say is that it's the LENS that makes this camera.....SECOND to NONE..... I want one!!
I'm waiting for leica q2 . Love the Q , leica still not listen to people wanting built in EVF this is arrogant or just want to make more money buy forcing people to buy their expensive leica evf . Compare with a9 sony this tl2 not cheaper after all with lenses, evf .... I go for sony a9
Certainly not true. I have never seen better RAW files than those coming from Leica camera, and I worked a long time in publishing, and have seen many things. Those incredible files save you tons of time later, because they need almost no correction whatsoever. Also the optical quality and characteristic of the picture, a league above all competition, no question about it. Those things are priceless.
