Just found your channel and been ripping through your GOT playlist. probably my favourite reactions to the show thus far. Insightful commentary and honestly some points of view that other reactors (nor myself when watching original airings) didn't have. Your understanding of how this world works has been spot on since day one. Jaime can’t rule Casterly Rock because he’s a Kings Guard. They give up their right to own land or have children. That’s why Tywin threatened Olena with naming Loris to the Kings Guard if she didn’t agree to marry him to Cercei, and why Tywin had to try to trick Jaime into retiring from the Kings Guard (it’s a lifetime position) by threatening to execute Tyrion so he could take over Casterly Rock and further the family line. Cercei is a woman duty-bound to marry into another family so she can’t take over, Tyrion is a condemned criminal so even if the family wanted to give it to him they can’t now, so that leaves Keven Lannister.

10:07 It's messed up because Qyburn represents what early science was. It was shunned by the church a lot of times because realistically, you can't find out if something will help someone or hurt someone when it comes to medicine until you try it on a living person. Some civilizations accepted it, others didn't. And a lot of the times it's because science had to be barbaric in order to achieve advancement and new discoveries. The church saw it as an abomination and unnatural, which is what the shows mirrors with Pycelle and Qyburn.

Kevan (Tywin's Brother) does now rule over Casterly Rock. Jaime is a member of the Kingsguard, he has forsaken all rights to any inheritance. Cersei is a woman, and therefore cannot inherit. Tyrion is a condemned traitor. Cersei's children are also out of the line of inheritance: Joffrey is dead, Myrcella is a girl, and Tommen is set to inherit the Throne. The "main branch" of the Lannister family, Tywin, his children and his grandchildren, are dead or otherwise barred from inheriting Casterly Rock or any other part of what Tywin considered his legacy. You could make the argument that perhaps Tommen could be both King and Lord of Casterly Rock, but that isn't clear, and even if that were the case, he'd need someone to rule as regent for him while he is still so young. It's a very complicated dynamic, but speaking purely from a legal perspective, Kevan is completely in the right with what he is doing here.

So that massive statue at Braavos is actually not just for show, there are places for archers to sit behind cover and keep invading ships out. Braavos is a cutthroat city, but also one of the safest from outside influences, especially since its home of The Iron Bank, which even Tywin acknowledged as more or less Westeros' IRS. Ellaria needs to chill out, Oberyn died in a legally sanctioned trial by combat. It sucks and its sad, but Oberyn played himself and realistically, they'd be contending with both The Lannisters and Tyrells, since House Tyrell is allied to Lannister by marriage. Kevan Lannister would be the regent/steward of Casterly Rock in place of there being no legitimate heir. Tyrion is a wanted criminal and Jaime cannot hold lands as a knight in The King's Guard. I think technically then, lordship would eventually fall onto Lancel Lannister as he's Kevan's legitimate son. Jon is too much like Ned to take up Stannis' offer, even if it was a damn good one with little to no downsides. I also adore Sam here, he knew Alliser would make Jon miserable and so he endorsed him and made a compelling argument in his favor. Lo and behold, it worked albeit barely. Aemon coming in clutch!

Jon can't be Lord of Winterfell because he's a bastard, unless he is legitimized; but the north would turn into a civil war between factions: Bran, Rickon, Sansa and Arya ALL come before him.

Baristan's right in what he's telling Dany. It's not right to make a virtue out of ruling by an iron fist. You need a force of moderation. We have seen her conquerer. This is the first time we're really seeing her rule and the whole "ruling is lying on a bed of weeds, ripping them out by the root, one by one, before they strangle you in your sleep" thing as Cersei had cynically said, is not going so well for her.

Barristan Selmy telling the Dragon Queen about her Father, while the burden of ruling is already driving her into the same pitfalls. She is in a moral quandry, whether to compromise with the nobles of Mereen or whether to rule by terror? She's growing increasingly self assured, coupled with a growing intolerance to dissent. Rigidity leads to brash decisions. Brienne's quest aaffc and Adod is far longer and completely futile, she doesn't find Sansa. But it would be impractical to waste limited amount of tv time on a wild goose chase, so they shortened it up to having her be rejected by both the Stark children. This is perfectly tailored to the context of a tv show.

Yeah she has a right to be pissed. At a dead man. Oberyn was more responsible for his death than the mountain was. Aside from failing to end the fight when he clearly could have. It was a fight he volunteered for. On the bright side. His role in ensuring Tyrion had to be executed. Did ultimately lead to Tywin being killed. So even the person he had a vendetta against is dead. This is all on her at this point.

In regards to Daenerys executing Mossador, there was no point in giving him a trial because he had already confessed to the murder in front of her. This was also about showing the people of Mereen, former slaves and former masters alike, that the law would be applied to both groups equally. Daenerys had to show the former masters that she would not be more lenient towards the former slaves due to her own biases. As a ruler she can't let herself be clouded by emotion and has to be neutral when handing out a sentence, just like a judge should in a court of law. In the books Mossador is actually an Unsullied and one of Missandei's 3 brothers who were also enslaved alongside her but he's not executed in the books.

Jamie could not inherit because he was Kingsguard, and Tyrion could obviously not either because he was convicted, so Kevan inherited because he was the oldest male in the line.

She had to kill him just like Rob had to kill Karstark. I know the consequences but it had to be done.
