My wife and I just picked up a CX-30 and so far we're loving it.

This is what a car enthusiast would buy. SUV folks just need a bigger vehicle, they can’t understand its value.

Mechanical lockers > Limited slip differential > iPad on wheels lockers.

@4:55 Not sure if its unusual to get AWD warning. Even Honda has warning to save the AWD system where it gives Transmission Temperature too hot on iVTM4 AWD. They are clutch based AWD systems, not real 4WD like Wrangler, Bronco or 4Runner. IMO Its good to give warnings before hand on AWD vehicles.

Just bought a CX50. noticed you can add the same station to favorites multiple times and the center display brightness (automatic setting) does not work. gets dimmer at night when set to night mode. does cx30 have same software bugs?

The biggest issue on this car is the tires. Get some Falken Wildpeak A/T's and it'll perform a lot better than this

Hmmm. It’s a small raised hatchback with AWD to help in inclement weather, not an off-roader.

why are people getting the turbo?? I'm getting the na 2.5 preferred trim tomorrow Monday morning, i come from a turbo charged car and i kind of didn't like the fact that the turbo would go out eventually so im going for the a na car.

People avoid CVT for over heating issue. Well, this transmission fells into the same track.

Wow…. That is a thick rocker trim… looks like 10” at the rear doors. I can’t unsee that.

I tried searching for it. So either I can't find it or you haven't done it yet. But do the Kia K5 with the AWD. But to add spice to it, start a new segment where you do "old vs new" slip test. The one I have specifically is the Kia K5 1.6t AWD (the old one) vs the Kia K5 2.5 NA AWD (new one). The main reason I'm asking is because when the going gets tough in my 1.6t AWD. the electronics start to have problems. So I'm curious if Kia changed the programming in the AWD for the NA 2.5 or if it's the same as the old 1.6t AWD.

Mazda CX-30 looks amazing!

It's a clever test but unfortunately it doesn't represent real world conditions. I own one of these cars in North Idaho. I've been through three winters now with the terrible stock tires and have driven this car through hellish conditions and it never skipped a beat. Had to take a nasty back mountain road after a squall dumped almost a foot of snow causing multiple crashes on the highway. The road was a way around the crash, almost 10 miles of hilly unplowed dirt road and the car was fine. I now have better tires and am looking forward to winter to try them out. No one should take the test on this video as gospel, ask the thousands of people who drive these things every day in Northern climates how they fair. Pro tip, tire choice means everything. Rollers are not an analog for ice but it's fun to watch.

I'm looking at buying a 2024 CX 30. For you current owners of CX 30s from 2021-2024, what are you getting on mpg in the city? That's my biggest concern because 85% of my driving is city. Thanks in advance!

I'd buy the Premium non-turbo....the NA 2.5 is more than enough for the Cx30.

These test results make me want a Bronco sport badlands. Similar tech ideas but better execution. Style is a meh for both in my opinion.

Which engine is it? 150hp or 180hp one?

It would be helpful if you had an Infograph or at least tell us how much throttle you are using in these tests. To me, it just looks like you don’t know what you are doing throttle-wise.

Mazda needs specific trims. 1. on road performance, lowered , gripy performance tires, slightly bigger brakes, front strut bar, more aggressive psi setting for turbo for 280hp 350tq! 2. Off road trim , with off road tires, lifted another inch higher, front bumper moded for off road

Probably doesn't help that the vehicle doesn't have air flow on the Slip test pads.

Yea, everybody seems to complain about the CVT in Subarus, but I have never seen one overheat in off road mode or slip tests. The CX-30 is a nice package, though, overall. I dont like the beam rear axle, especially on the nearly 40k loaded turbo model, and I still would prefer a touch enabled infotainment system, no matter how hard Mazda loyalists try to defend the control wheel system.

The cx-30 is obviously not any version of an off roader. AWD is simply a silly gimmick for most car manufacturers at this point. Great vehicle for what it us when used properly.

These are one of the most cramped and uncomfortable vehicles I have ever rode in. I know it's a compact vehicle but it feels very very tight

So in a storm, if you get stuck and spin the wheels excessively to no avail the Mazda says "nice try but we aren't going anywhere"? Unacceptable.

Noping out after 15 seconds on an easy roller test is just awful. Far behind Subaru in capability, and it isn't $6-8k nicer than one either.

This vehicle needs larger wheelhouse plastic eyebrows to further cheapen it and make it visually repugnant. People with face tats and nose piercings like it however and all that matters. Of course they don't have a job which is a problem for sales.
