I dont get the people who are down on nix but wanted to keep russ. Nix was the most efficient qb in college. People knock his yards per attempt avg, but he got the ball out quick, under 3 seconds. Russ was holding the ball for 4.7 seconds on avg and took so many unnecessary sacks. And still, russ only averaged around 6 yards per attempt, but if you take out attempts over 20 yards, in the first 20 yards of the field, russ averaged 2.3 yards per attempt. You cant do enough mental gymnastics to make any of that a positive

Thanks, this was fair. I do think more highly of the Broncos than you do, however. Yet, it's nice to hear someone say we'll be in the discussion for playoffs. It was such a change last year, that the season wasn't over by Thanksgiving, and that we actually had some hope and anticipation going into December. I think no one knows how good this Broncos team will be with a QB who runs Payton's offense the way it is designed to be. Should be fun.

I'd think the two camps are: "I believe in Sean Payton" and "I don't believe in Sean Payton". I believed in him when he was with the Saints and had Brees. I stopped believing in him the minute Brees walked out the door and he has yet to prove he can direct an offense without Brees leading it.

JFM and Roach added to DL will help that whole defense and has me interested to see how that unit comes together. Missed notable addition: Russ's deadcap hit which will help bring down the QB sack number.

I wish you guys would have talked about Joe Lombardi a bit more, considering he got fired from the Chargers for his flat and pass heavy offense, which put all the weight on Herbert. I'd be concerned, if I weren't a Chargers fan, about Nix's ability to start day 1 with that type of offense. Not that he can't perform, but that he may not be ready to make the jump, and Joe won't change up the game and lean on the run game or make it easy on the QB. You talked about Telesco's faults for the Raiders episode, just wish a little more attention went to the history of Joe and how he ended up staying in the division, and why he was out of a job. Love the content though, this episode and all the others this year!

Good group of weapons might be a stretch. This is easily a bottom 5 team in terms of skill players.

Y'know Bo Nix can certainly get a big help having consistently average help around him. Far too often the (promising) drafted young QB prospects land themselves in poor situations that is not conducive of supporting their long term career. Be it not having reliable receiver weapons with varying skillsets or reliable big bodies in the trenches to keep the QB upright in big pass moments. At the very least if the Broncos can be consistently average, it would help evaluate to how much better Bo can be in the next 4 years along with the young guys.

I’m just here to say I love the reference. It’s dank to see separate entities pay respect to their peers!

this broncos team has some intruiging young talent on offense especially (marvin mims, troy franklin, devaughn vele, greg dulcich, lucas krull, audric estime, blake watson, jaleel mclaughlin, bo nix)

Given the cap hell in DEN, Bo Nix was a good throw of the dice, even if he doesn't pan out.

Love this series and these two talking football. I am skeptical of this situation not because Bo Nix can’t be the guy but because he is jumping into a complex offense week one without time to adequately prepare. If they had brought in Darnold, Minshew, or Tannehill to give Nix a half to full season to sit and learn I would be more sold that this team is on the right path.

What you said about hot streaks for certain teams there makes a lot of sense and far be it for me to suggest you do even more work BUT we‘ve already seen the incredible difference that QBS has made in diversifying the analysis of teams this year, maybe next year we could introduce a third metric called “streak score” or maybe something less p*rnographic sounding where it takes into account the highest highs and lowest lows to separate a team into groups based on consistency where a high score would indicate a team being good across the board, where even when they drop the occasional game (as even the best teams obviously have to do) they still don’t get 70 dunked on them by an opposing offense. Shouldn’t be tooooo difficult to do either because you really only need to use the most key metrics like point differential and like one or two universal offensive and defensive numbers each like yards gained vs yards allowed and them spread that across the entire season to see where their hottest and coldest streak was and how extreme the difference was. Would’ve been helpful with the Broncos here but also with teams like the Jags who had a massive collapse OR the Bills who went on a crazy last minute run to secure the division win.

Zach Wilson disrespect is absolutely wild. 90%+ are inept at evaluating QBs.
