The Power Aero is available in three large 14000 sized models. If you are a carp or specimen angler the Power Aero XTC has a dark stealth-like colouration that is sure to appeal to you. Alternatively the Power Aero XSC has a silver colouration more favoured by surfcasting anglers and is available in two variants. The standard XSC version has a 4.3:1 gear ratio, which retrieves a massive 103cm of line per handle turn, giving you awesome speed when you need it most. The ‘Power Gear’ PGXSC version has a slower 3.5:1 high torque gear ratio making it perfect for playing outsized fish or applying the ultimate in constant cranking pressure.

I am waiting for the new models 16000 XTE/XSE, 18000 XTF/XSF and 20000 XTG/XSG to appear to mount them on the tow truck. I hope they appear soon, because they seem better than the original troller of the car. 👍

Shimano makes good, high-quality and high-performance reels. But Shimano still does not realize that in fact from all these top technologies and features, considered by them, 3 are missing and the most important of all considered by fishermen. 1. BAITRUNNER LC = Of all the evolution of Carp reels, Big Pit, Surfcasting, Specimen, etc. and besides all the features developed over the years, the Baitrunner LC is and has been the most reliable and beneficial feature possible. With Baitrunner feature, gives us the advantage to set the front drag torque of the line only once at the beginning of fishing match and it can remain set for the entire fishing match. And when engaged, the spool will release the line as it was set until we pick up the rod and turn the handle, which instantly engages the front drag and enables to continue the fight. But without the Baitrunner, we would have to set the front Drag on every rod, at every cast, which becomes a waste of time, unpleasant, disgusting and even annoying especially in a competition fishing where every minute counts. In conclusion, a reel without Baitrunner, can be Big Pit, Carp, Surfcasting, Specimen, etc. is actually considered just a spinning reel but little bigger, NOT a Carp reel. 2. Bail Arm = At many of reels, especially at Carp reels, the Bail Arm NO longer triggers automatically when we turn the handle. With manual triggers, this is extremely unpleasant and is becoming more and more disgusting. 3. Big Pit Spool = Besides to the 14000 Spool, Shimano could make a reel version on the same model, with the same features and with a 5500 Spool the same as at Ultegra Ci4+ model. The 5500 Spool is enough for any style of fishing. What can we expect in the future, a bicycle frame, without rubber on the rear rim, pedaling in drill? 14000 Spool is actually a true crane NOT a reel, to be honest. We still need a chassis to replace the rods and we will fish with construction equipment. If Shimano implemented a version with Baitrunner on Ultegra Ci4+ 5500 and 14000 and Baitrunner and a 5500 Spool on Aero Technium MGS and Power Aero reels, again with automatic release of the Bail Arm when we turn the handle, we can say again that Shimano offer a large range of Carp reels for all the fishing style. Daiwa takes care of these aspects and actually offers fishermen more than 10 Baitrunner reels, of which at least 7 are Long Cast and all with automatic release of the Bail Arm when we turn the handle. For this reason, Shimano lost and continues to lose a lot front of Daiwa if them does not take these aspects into account.

These Big Pit trollers they are spinning reels, but extremely large and voluminous. When it comes to fishing from the shore, for carp, even Catfish, Sturgeon, Phytophage, Tench, etc, with rods on Rod Pod or other Holders, where the rods are often left unattended, NOT at Spinning only from hand, the best reels are those from the Free Spool range, with specific feature to large and aggressive fish, NOT necessarily those reels with a large spool from Big Pit range. Baitrunner, which is very useful, because the rods are much safer and protected by the Baitrunner when left them unattended than only from the front brake adjustment. And besides that, the Baitrunner saves us from setting the front brake on each rod after each cast, which is also another great advantage. Baitrunner, once set at the beginning of the match, can remain stable with the setting made until the end of the match, without wasting time adjusting the front brake on each rod after each launch and the rod on the Rod Pod or in other Rod Holder is much safer and protected by Baitrunner than only with the front brake adjustment. A Long Cast Spool of 4500, 5000, 5500 maximum, is also the best and enough bigger, either in shore fishing, even in planted fishing, not just 10000, 12000 and 14000. And fast front brake, which is also one of the most important feature. But in the Shimano Free Spool range, there is no such reel capable of meeting the requirements of carp fishermen and it tries to deceive us that in fact the big size of the spool is the best feature in carp reels. One of the Shimano Crap reels is only the Shimano Baitrunner XTB LC, but unfortunately even it is a complete failure, because it does not have a fast front brake and worse than that, the Bail Arm does not trigger automatically when turn the handle, but must be triggered manually, which also makes even this reel a mess, the same like the others in their range. Daiwa has a much extended Free Spool range of carp reels and much better performance that offer carp anglers absolutely everything they need and you have what to choose from. Shimano only have a range of reels. Large category spinning and also spinning but a smaller category.

@@user-do8hl2kp1j As you seem knowledgeable on high end big pits reels and hitting max distance If price wasn't the issue and it was for a special present for my son. Who already has his break down stalkers kit and a set of 12 ft Diawa whispers, with a pair of £150 shimanos. What big pit real would you recommend for ultimut distance. Is I intend for him to put them on his 12ft wispers and then upgrade the rods to 13ft in the future I'm not a fisherman, so any advice would be good. I have read that the 2020 power ares had a plasticity front. But I don;''t know if this or even a later model is any better, so anything you know would be good to hear.

I just hope the drag is not to quick. I sold my Power Aero's XTB's because of this. The XTB drag is stupidly quick.

I did exactly the same. Shame great reel but massively let down by the drag. I think for me 4 clicks from free spool to locked up. Terrible for playing fish on. Shimano if this is sorted you’ve got a sale 😀
