@@chanceym6000 good point, but... first generation Defender has smaller wading depth and road clearance, and doesn't have lockable diffs second generation Defender, while purpose built is smaller (which if we're talking overlanding counts because you need a place to sleep) and has less powerful engines in general compared to RR. You can also fit bigger wheels to the new RR. but it's easier to accessorise the new Defender for the overland, even more so the old one, but that's not stock anymore. so while it's more practical to use the new Defender off-road and potentially overland, RR L405 has an edge. The new generation is clearly superiour, until Def gets an update. And first generation def doesn't stand a chance against either one. I mean, sure, axles, but wait until you hit deep enough ruts.
@@hxkdneuxbxjdidndnxj Yeah I meant the L663. There's plenty of room to sleep in the back of a 110 (look up a camping YT vid) 400HP is plenty for any mud or sand offroad scenario. Bigger wheels are a disadvantage. But the defender's stock 32" tire is also plenty. The 23" alloys on the L460 will not last long in sharp rocks. My LR3 has 19"s and it still makes me nervous to go over sharp rocks, so I can't imagine the stress with 23"s Also, the L663 factory explorer pack accessories count as stock, and the L460 doesn't offer factory RAIs or winches, etc. And yeah, the original Defender wouldn't hold a candle to the L460 stock v stock
