What's not to love about Savage. Thank you for taking us with you, I don't need another gun, I'm 75, but I am tempted after seeing this bunch of bangers.
Great to see the improvements in stock rigidity, grip position and bolt throw. I recently updated my Axis 2 stock with a similar stock to this from another brand company. Savage is keeping up with the market. Kudo's to them.
I am a big fan of Savage Rifles and have been for years. I own two Model 110E rifles, one in 7MM Rem. Mag and one in .243. They are very accurate, and I just love going to the range and getting better groups than my friends who tend to be snobs when it comes to the "humble" Savage. I am going to have to get me an Axis II Pro with all the bells and whistles. I love the new stock and overall look. Thank you for a great video.
Bought my son a Savage Axis package 10 years ago, after a good report card. This 223 accounted for Roos, rabbits, foxes, hares & wild pigs. Was so impressed with this budget outfit, bought myself the camo package in 308. Just as accurate. Cannot fault these rifles.
I’ve been following your channel for a few years now and my brother as well. My brother calls me repeating everything you say word for word knowing I watched your video. Keep up the good work God bless…
Outstanding Adam! I'm a huge Savage fan! I'm an even bigger Savage Axis fan! The Axis/Axis II have always given outstanding value for the money! That new stock is sick! I love it! The Axis II Pro looks awesome! I could imagine one of those in 22-250 set up for coyote hunting! What a perfect rig! I'm really looking forward to future videos on your new Axis II Pro! Thanks for showing us this! Good luck and safe travels on your Africa trip!
Great info Adam.. The new stiffer forearm on the stock has me intrigued... I may need to pick one or two up... I'll need to see if my local purveyor of boo-lot flingers has any in stock... I like my Scabage Axis 2 it is so easy to tinker with and swap out a barrel
That Axis ll pro, with the cerakote and that desert style camo on the top rack wants to come live at my house...lol. 😂Thanks for another great video buddy. God bless!
Savage is a great company. My uncle worked for them for 45 years and retired from there in the Westfield plant. I live 5 mins from them. Best pew pew made for rifles. I heard their shot guns are great too.
I’ve been looking to get a 280 ai and savage seems to be the only affordable rifle. That’s great that the new generation will give some better features.
As a born and raised Massachusetts resident, I can say Ma as a state has a great history of manufacturing guns. Smith and Wesson, Steven, Savage, Harrington Richardson, Khar, New England Firearms, Springfield, and many more. Sadly, the governing bodies are not too friendly to people's rights to bare those same arms manufactured there. Keep up making the best vids on the web.
Yeah, taking a $250 rifle, polishing a turd, and getting people to pay $500-$700 for it instead of a $250 rifle it is. Why when you can get a Tikka, Howa, or a 110 series Savage? This is where Savage and Ruger are going wrong with some of their offereings, and people are falling for it. I will say they dont look bad, all depends on how they will be priced.
Savage is really killing it. They're ....their updates to their line of rifles I currently have three 110 savages and I really like them all. The only savage I don't like is the new style 110 with the bottom button boat release. I really do not like that system. They. went backwards when they did that. The top button boat release is way better
I picked up a Savage Axis II Predator (heavy, threaded barrel, camo stock etc Wal-Mart exclusive I believe) last year in .243. Put some decent glass on it and it is a Tack Driver :)
I definitely think Savage is on to something with that new stock. I have 3 Savage rifles 2 of which I got at a crazy good deal that I couldn't pass up. The only complaint is the flimsy stock on the plain Axis. Looking forward to seeing the Africa hunt can't wait.
I knew I should have waited! I just bought a 110 tactical last fall and my only complaint is the hand angle on the stock. I guess I'll need a new one if they update the 110
@@andrewmcmullen1388 ya that’s one of the only things holding me back from getting one. That and the action doesn’t look very smooth. Been looking at bergara and maybe Howa as well
Very glad to see a more rigid stock (and that wood option looks pretty pretty) and recessed sling studs, and the new bolt handle design doesn’t look too bad. Only thing is I don’t love that vertical pistol grip for a hunting rifle, but that’s just personal preference. Love the Axis and this overall looks like a great update.
@@WHOTEEWHO how did the action feel? Did it feed well? I was gonna order a cheapo old axis in 270 to rebarrel to 280ai but now I’m considering getting this one instead. Thoughts?
I'm really liking the new lineup, but I wish the Pro line offered a 22-inch barrel. I understand why they went with 20-inches with a threaded barrel, as that's the way things are trending right now, but sadly, here in Canada suppressors are prohibited, so a 20-inch barrel isn't ideal for me. I know it's only another 2 inches, but that extra length equates to roughly 50 fps more velocity, and given I can't use a suppressor I prefer the added velocity a longer barrel provides. If the Pro line had 22-inch barrels I'd look into getting one. Hopefully Savage offers a 22-inch model with a heavier contour Cerakoted barrel in the future. Regardless, I'll be looking forward to your next video with the range results!
Africa should be on every hunter's bucket list....twice! I'm heading back next May. Flight is already booked. I used 162gr ELD-X pills out of my 28 Nosler and they performed flawlessly. Most PH's prefer solids like CX or TTSX and want you to break shoulders but if you can thread those exploding pew pews in to the important stuff they just drop in their tracks. Can't wait to see your footage from the trip!
@@WHOTEEWHO I just saw your 30-06 video. I'm guessing that will see more time in the field than the 6.5. I'm tempted to take one of my 6.5's in May but would likely limit its use to Springbuck, Impala, mountain reedbuck. I shot a warthog at 90yds with a 162gr bullet going 3175fps and could feel the bullet under the skin on the off shoulder. Tough critter! Study the vitals of the animals you plan to hunt, and take some cash for unplanned opportunities. Guides will sometimes let you negotiate the price down a bit on some species.
I am excited about this I love all my savage axis rifles, they are all tack drivers. Will those stocks and bolt knobs fit on the older generations? And if so will they be available to purchase separately to update our older models? But what I really want to know is if they fixed their barrel bluing since they had serious rusting problems if you were taking it out in wet or humid conditions. I have learned to avoid any problems by lightly oiling the barrel before taking them out on hunts, but it would be nice if they just fixed their bluing process since I don't have that issue with any of my blued barrels on any of my other rifles.
Looks like they are making great improvements all the time. With all of your pull at Savage you should put a bug in someone's ear to start building the Model 99 again. They will listen to you after all you are Who-tee-Whoo haha
Only gripe I’ve had with axis is their stock and heavy bolt in their cheaper models. Glad to see they updated the stock, love it. Hope they fixed the bolt throw.
I have two axis and both are stupidly hard to cycle, had them looked at and still no solution. Found a company that offers a replacement device that goes into the bolt assembly but it’s still hard to cycle them. None of my other bolt guns are even remotely hard to cycle.
I was able to significantly lighten my Axis bolt throws with longer aftermarket bolt handles (which looks like this new model comes with which is nice) I also purchased bolt lift kits from Grimstod Desh on RU-vid. Those were easy installs and pretty cheap, both modifications together make the bolt lift so much smoother.
I must have missed when you said it- what cartridge did you get your new Axis in? =) I'm stoked for this new generations of Axis! Savage Axis have always been pretty "fugly" to my eye, but these new ones are truly lookers!
I got a Savage email making this announcement today! That higher cheek rest is money. I will be getting one of the OD green models in 308 (low recoil, plenty of cartridge for ranch use).
I have been a subscriber for years now. My first contact with WhoTee was for the Tristar KRX semiautomatic 12 gauge shotgun. It's a great series 👍 you should check it out.
I was wondering what that 2nd rifle was gonna be. What’s the caliber? You may have said it and I didn’t catch it but I’m curious. I love the axis series. Big fan.
@@WHOTEEWHO I'm ready. I saw a RH model in 30-06 today at Sportsman's Warehouse and REALLY liked it. But I'm searching for one for my daughter... somehow I ended up with a kid that is a lefty.
Fella which rifle brand do you prefer straight out of the box with scope. My nephew is going on his first deer season with me this fall he's shot my .270 Remington and likes that caliber. I'm trying to get him a budget rifle to start with.
I’m in TN too not far from you, M’boro. I want to get a new bullet slinger for deer catchin and I think I’ve decided on a 6.8 western. I just want to get one off the shelf, so basically limited to browning xbolt, seekins precision havak, or Christiansen arms mesa. I don’t really want to go too far on the budget end or too far on the expensive end so thinking in that $1k-$2k range. Any suggestions between those or any others you recommend?
