A problem with these receivers based on the MSi001 SiGe chip is that they capture as intense noise the interference caused by the switching power supply of the laptop. Has this receiver resolved it? I would encourage the builders of these receivers to put a pHEMT or a SiGe transistor at the input at UHF
i bought a rsp1a last year.. i was using a standard rtlsdrv3 stick for years.. i was not overly impressed with what i had paid for the rsp1a and what form of operation i got out of it for my investment. i was never satisified with it from day one.. if they have a new box that has some improvements thats great. i can say i was not impressed at all with the rsp1a for any HF items.
Hi Kenny, I too was disappointed with the RSP1A but I do live near very high power MW transmitters and on the same site is BBC Radio 4's Long Wave transmitter (198kHz) all within 6 miles. So even with an external attenuator and bandpass filter trying to receive NDB's between 280 - 500kHz was impossible with the RSP1A. I saw a used RSP2PRO for sale a short while ago and took a risk and bought it and I'm pleased to report it is ok here with the high MW & LW RF for receiving NDB's using an original PA0RDT mini whip antenna but I still need to use my external attenuator and bandpass filter. It looks like the RSPDX should be better than the RSP2PRO so I will be getting one asap. Cheers, Mike G1ZRN.
The RSPdx is very fresh. It almost still has the smoke from the factory producing line. The sales will start late this month, so the SDR console does not support it yet, but I am sure that SDR console will adjusted the code for this new RSDdx -receiver soon!
Show the antenna you are receiving the 40m band. I have also RTL-SDR and i am receiving 20m & 40m HAM band with the roof of the balcony of my apartment, 1-st floor and 9:1 balun transformer, Ploiesti Romania.
same with me .i have v3 .and get good .20/40/80/2m.....weather fax satalites.. aircraft planes and tower ..london//scotland ..i use inverted v ...on bungalow roof... i do live in the country side so that will help ...[uk].what i see with rsp1a..is not worth the cost for what i would gain over v3...
