I don't think this is the consumer's fault, sure we have gotten more conscious of what we put in our mouths, but there's no reason for Subway to double their prices for healthier food, adding healthy options does not lead to 100% price increases
As someone who used to work for subway and did their truck orders, there is no way in hell these sandwiches should be that expensive. They were already seeing HUGE profit margins. Just another example of post-pandemic corporate greed.
But inflation causes all overheads to increase and unfortunately that effect compounds along each stage from raw materials to end product. That's what's so nefarious about it
