You adjust regen with your foot. If you release the speeder fast, you get full regen and if you release it slowly you get mild regen. It’s very precise and you don’t have to change focus from the road or let go of the steering wheel, so it’s much safer. Quite clever and by far a better solution than paddles behind the steering wheel and other nonsense solutions to mimic an old combustion super car.
@SyntheticSpy
@SyntheticSpy 3 месяца назад
I’ve recently started describing it to people as an inverse brake pedal. With the brake the more you push the harder it brakes. With regen the more you let off the harder it brakes

Regen options dissappeared a couple of years back (2021/2022 I believe?). If you have an older Model 3 you still have the low/high options though - it's purely newer cars made after a certain date can't change it from high anymore.
@wonderboy75

It kinda sucks that they did this aqtually. I guess Tesla thinks this gives you the best range so everyone should use this, but it feels like a downgrade to not have the option!

@@RogerGarner the problem I think, is that Tesla doesn’t blend in regen when using the brakepedals like most other EV’s so if you switch to coasting mode you don’t have any regen at all.

In the USA there are 12.5million trucks sold per year - almost all ICE vehicles. That is a massive market for the Cybertruck to take on and move people over to EV’s. They may not like it but it is a specific market for Tesla to take on. The cybertaxi is being launched on 8th August and that will be revolutionary- and also linked to the Model 2. It’s also worth noting that the Model 3 can be purchased new in the USA for $25k in certain states with subsidies.

I have a highland RWD and love it, super efficient and I love the buttons for indicators!!! Easy to use as it stops the disco indicator light problem you can have! just a second press and they turn off. Must also say I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and the interaction between Robert and Jack. An amazing way to review this ludicrous Tesla EV.

I enjoyed the review and chat. Well done! I absolutely hate the on-screen shifting, which is a pain for multi-point turns or if you don't have a long reach. Some drivers may not even have an arm on that side. What I think would be good is to have voice command gear-changes, e.g., "Gear DRIVE" or "Gear Reverse". This needs to be done in a way that it's not easily confused with other commands and should obviously be disabled above a certain speed, say, 5 mph. This way, changes are fluid but can't be done at highway speeds accidentally. I'm not sure why Tesla hasn't already done this, but this idea seems like low-hanging fruit.

People are shocked when Tesla cars get better year over year... it should be remembered that Tesla is still effectively a ten year old car company. There just hasn't existed the institutional knowledge on how to manufacture and put together a car the way the legacy car brands have accumulated. All the little tricks that make the finished product look stunning takes time to learn and the process takes time to refine. About now is when I really would expect stuff to have settled. Tesla began by producing the Roadster in 2008 as basically a hand built car. After that it was the model S and X, both of which were fairly low volume production vehicles. True mass manufacturing has only really been done for 6 or 7 years. Not a long time for any car company. It's like Tesla claims with car self driving, the miles driven in testing matters, likewise in manufacturing the numbers produced has an impact on how good at producing something you get.

It's just so frustrating with new Model 3s because they instantly fail the mum test: if she test drove one she would say no immediately simply because of the indicator buttons, and the way the speedo works and the screen for the aircon wouldn't help at all. I don't get the yammering about the model 3 (previous versions) handling poorly. Compared to what? I've driven lots of performance cars over the 50+ years I've driven, and this was the best handling car I'd ever driven to that point. We have a 2018 dual motor, it handles great on the windy mountain roads we always drive, better than most ICE cars due to the low center of gravity. The ride was a little harsh, but just as good as the Mercedes I've driven. We also have a BYD, I much prefer selecting the gear on the screen to having to start the car with a separate button then use a traditional gear selector. After 6 years in the Tesla, when I get into a traditional styled car with all the buttons, it is ridiculous, been in an EV9 yet? Total button overload. I much prefer the minimalist approach.

I only really need the M3 in a Fiesta sized car so the Model 2 would be a welcome addition to their range and a damn site more useful to many commuters. I get the indicator hate but it's really not been a problem for me (only had mine for 12 days) and the drive selector isn't an issue at all, a specific stalk for it would seem pointless to me now.

10:53- it’s not that Tesla have made a bad product…it that (clearly) people don’t understudy how good the product is and how it will function better, especially over the years: the vast majority of the CYBRTRK won’t rust (outside skin and giga castings/frame), most of the outside the the truck won’t dent or wrinkle nearly as easy as any other vehicle on the road, the steering is better than anything else it’s size, it can tow/haul comparably to other vehicles it’s size, and then there is all of the regular stuff about Tesla comfort, safety, and conveniences, and furthermore, the lack of regular maintenance. It doesn’t seem like you understand Tesla products. I am 50K+ miles into M Y ownership, and I haven’t needed to take it in for 15 oil changes, I will never need to do a major service of any kind on any spark plugs, engine air filters, water pumps, belts, alternators, 12-volt batteries, mass air flow sensors…you get the idea. It’s simple.

Great assessment of a stellar car. Tested the Model 3 Performance last week - it’s the most remarkable car I’ve driven. Fun, fast, quiet, smooth. Perfect ❤

I would offer a slight correction: 99% of buyers would be perfectly fine with Model 3 standard range

I want the Long Range with the Performance suspension. And a S3XY buttons indicator stalk.

Prices mentioned are wrong £40K - Rear-Wheel Drive, £50K - All-Wheel Drive + £60K for the Performance. For the indicator stalk/ drive selector stalks or lack thereof should I say, I've had my 2024 Model 3 for over a month, I got used to it within about a day of driving it. A lot of reviews seem to make a bigger deal out of it than I think is necessary. Just book a test drive before you order it if you're not sure.

Cherry on top being that everyone is PRETENDING to know how to use blinkers 🤣

It's not that one can't get USED to it, but rather it's a good step backwards in design. These capacitive haptic buttons jammed together on the same side on a moving wheel (and on the wrong side in AU), is not anywhere near as intuitive and correct as a stalk from an objective Human-Vehicle Interface design perspective. Saying you can get used to it is fine, but anyone saying it's a design improvement is perpetually high & dumb.

@@rustygates3367 I'd argue that anyone who thinks humans are actually capable of using stalks properly is supremely high🤣 Truthfully, not high just not paying attention. Lane changing is too complicated from my experience for ALL humans on the globe. Actually knowing when to indicate is science-fiction.

Love the video, and the car. But can’t help feel that UK customers get shafted by Tesla, considering what equivalent cars sell for in Europe and the UK. Sad😢
