I wish KP got their act together. Their products are good to great quality, but I feel like they're getting a little too comfortable with reselling the same content with a new coat of paint. From the top of my head: they made Midgard Worldbook and Midgard Worldbook 5e; there's the Midgard Heroes Handbook -> Deep Magic -> Deep Magic Vol. 1 & 2 chain of books, and that's after the first Deep Magic book should had been the patch for the MHH spells; a good chunk of the Tome of Heroes player options are reprints from the Margreve and Underworld players guide and some Warlock Grimoire content; Zobeck Gazetteer and Zobeck - The Clockwork City. Then there's this. Note that I'm not taking into consideration content that was sold in small PDFs to later be complied into large physical formats because the existence of books like the Warlock Grimoires actually make sense. It also feels to me like they're moving away from making content specific for Midgard for a more one-size-fits-all approach and that's a real shame since the setting is a main attraction together with their bestiaries. Paizo doesn't shy away from making content that is more specific for Golarian. WOTC make even the content that's for other settings fit into the Forgotten Realms somehow, even if it feels forced. All 3 settings are kitchen sinks, yet only one of it has creators that think first and foremost how to make their content, especially player facing content, as friendly as possible to integrate in other settings, homebrew or official. This approach only makes GMs that actually want to use their setting as their main setting work more. Give me more Midgard adventure modules. Give me setting expansions like the long awaited Brilliant East. Give me something that assures me that Midgard, the setting I chose for my D&D 5e, is a major factor in the thought process of devs when they make new content for players and GMs. I won't abandon Midgard because I love the setting, but I can't justify getting new books from KP if the things I'm feeling about what it seems to be their new direction prove to be true.

I totally get were you are coming from and I agree with the Midgard specific stuff. The worldbook + southlands has enough to keep me playing in Midgard for a lifetime but as a fan I just wanna see more. That said, I love the ToB but it had some major issues. So for me, it's great it's gotten an update

@@MrTarrasque if you're talking about the CR discrepancy, it never was a issue for me. I'm not building all my encounters as unavoidable life or death combat or as perfectly balanced equations. I build them fair in the sense that players always have more options at their disposal, even if some might not be the best, while others might even surprise me. If it's about some of the more clunky mechanics, I actually like them. The Pathfinder roots are visible and it gives me some interesting ideas on how to play with mechanics if I homebrew. I love the white apes and that weird illness as an example. The later bestiaries are still trying to think outside the box and tend to be more polished, but that also comes with less wackiness and similitude with the WOTC ones.

Looks like a cool revision and update to a classic bestiary.

I bought it. Waiting for it to show up. Hopefully works well with tales of the valiant.

@@MrTarrasque Oh 😂 for some reason it looked incredibly clear/high res compared to what I was using (Adobe Acrobat), but it made me look into something better for reading PDFs and I found a program called PDFgear and it's absolutely incredible; has ChatGPT integration (blew my mind), bookmarks, background changer, converting, etc. ALL FOR FREE! So, thanks for that!
