Finally got my hands on the new HTC Vive Pro 2 and I must say I am less than impressed. In this review I briefly cover all the points that I like and disliked to help you decide if this headset is worth your money! Enjoy!
And he's very straightforward with the review as well, he makes it easy to understand as well. I hope more companies would send their equipment to Chris for testing and reviewing.
I've heard that the black is not bad for LCD, but I wasn't willing to take the chance. I've just had enough of putrid gray where black should be. Glad I decided to wait for something else. Thanks!
@@ChrisQuitsReality yeah for sure, even going from the vive to the index dissapointed me. I didnt do much research on the panels beforehand but was very dissapointed by the greys and god rays. They made the wrong choice.
It's been so long that I see a RU-vidrs name and click not caring what the content is, but I'm loving this so far. Would love to see your opinion on the facial trackers and such! Incredible editing btw!! 👏
Been subscribed for a bit now and dude over half a million subscribers and next to no content. Your missing a huge chance, we need more lol all jabs aside keep up the good work and I speak for everyone when I say I'd watch consistent uploads religiously your one of my favorites. Peace✌
From Chris's "About Me" "If you subscribed because of something in particular don't worry there will be more where that came from eventually. " Me subscribing after watching a review video he only does every two years or so when tech gets better. :)
@@Sil3ntD3ath478 it do be a sad, here's hoping soon, valve tend to be very silent so we never know. That said wouldve thought wed have something official by now given all the leaks
I was looking for my first headset (apart from psvr) and there’s a few options to choose from. I won’t lie, the newer headsets seemed like they would be the best investment, but thanks to your amazing in-depth non-bias review, I’ll steer clear and go for the Index. After all, you are the most qualified person I can think of to review these! Thank you!
As long as you live in US, have a good PC rig and are patient with RMA returns incase of any problems - go for it, because it's actually a good HMD as you've mentioned and it's actually one that's worth every buck
psvr was my first real headset and I loved it! I have never met anyone that hated their index it really is a great piece of hardware only risk with buying one currently is them dropping a new one but there is no guarantee of that anytime soon.
@d[llp; d Well first I'm reviewing the headset and not the controllers IMO the index controllers themselves are awesome but the build quality is absolute trash . Second I have not had the headset long enough to test cable lifespan because the headset sucked so much ass I returned it. Basically everything for every headset is on backorder it's not valve exclusive try looking for a vive pro cable. IMO the valve index cables are the worst I've dealt with though however replacements have never been an issues under warranty. Pixel problems are anecdotal if you search anything you will find more even if it's a small minority I have had 4 myself with no issues besides self inflicted problems
@d[llp; d bro if you like the pro 2 then I hope you enjoy it I literally say that in the video. I don't hate vive I like their stuff and have nothing against them however for the price and what the pro 2 offer imo they dropped the ball. This video is from my experience as a person who literally plays vr as their job and has stuck their face in most the vr headsets out there. Also the pro 2 colors are better then the index I don't even think you watched the vid ur just going off for no reason.
I know im a little late to ask, but i just recently got to try vr for the very first time with the quest 2 and love it, and now im hungry for the true definitive vr experience, im getting a pc very soon, so in your honest opinion what complete vr set would you recommend? Price is not an issue i was thinking about buying the full htc vive pro 2 kit for $1,399 on their website
I only picked up the Vive Pro 2 the other day and being the first entry to VR I can't say I can complain but then again I haven't seen much apart from trying out a Rift S for a few hours years ago. Getting Index controllers in a couple days and feel like that's a good combo since I can't really get used to the 2018 Vive controllers.
Index controllers are certainly way better than the wands for sure! Dude the vive pro 2 is an insanely good entry to VR ur going to have a great time! Most of this was nitpicky and doesn't make the whole package bad!
@@ChrisQuitsReality Haha yeah I get that. Did enjoy your take on it, I like to look at all the positive and critical things involved when I get a new product, helps build a solid perspective on it as a whole and your review did that for me. I can tell you know what your talking about when it comes to all of it. I'm still a newb to all of this but wish I got into it earlier since I'm enjoying it way more than I imagined I would. Cheers man!
still rockin the OG vive, waiting for a good replacement lol (ill probably get the index once valve releases something else and the index's price lowers)
W8 didn't the HTC Vive Pro 2 have Eye Tracking? If so how good is it actually? Nice and detailed Review best I've seen so far keep up the great work! 😆
Hi just wanted to ask what headset you use the most for VRchat, I’m planing on getting another headset for full body tracking cuz right now I have the Oculus quest 2 which of course ain’t good for body tracking.
antlion modmic is definitely amazing i had to buy it since i owned the og vive for the longest time... and even if a get a new headset definitely using this mic forever its so good
@@ChrisQuitsReality I appreciate that you're honest with your viewers. Many people were recommending the vive pro 2 simply based on resolution, but you went above and beyond. Thank you for Spreading knowledge and helping viewers to save money on their setups. I'm ordering vive 3.0 trackers and taking the plunge into VR chat soon. Your video helped me on my journey, thank you for the great content, laughs, and perspective.
I'm more then happy with people giving brutally honest takes on VR equipment and games. I have been saying since VR really look off its the next step for games.
I primarily use the valve index and I've never met anyone who's been disappointed with it. Waiting may be ideal though it's been out for a couple years now and hopefully they will drop something new soon.
answer pls, do you recomend valve index for vrc pole dancers? (like you for example) and does they work with wireless thing? And another thing, i have the modmic wireless mic with the normal vive, it was the better mic i ever had mixing it with voicemeter, but it broke. In your opinion, valve index microphone is better or the same than modmic wireless??? idk if i shoudl buy it again or i will solve everything with index headset ANSWER YOUR OPINION IS RELEVANT OK?
having used the original quest, or quest gen 1, or whatever it goes by now for the quest link....the vive pro 2 is on my list of, what to upgrade too besides the whole, i know index is pretty much everyones go too and/or recommended to be the best option, and which, it does seem the index seems like the better choice to use overall now that you did a pretty good review as a side note, having a large head kind of does make the quest suck using a bit so kind of wanting to skip over the quest 2 cause of it
This makes me wonder if there's adjustable pupil distance setting for others. As someone who wears prescription glasses, being off by even a mm or 2 is horrendous. If anyone has issues with VR, it's probably pupil distance.
Have you ever reviewed the Odyssey Plus at all? I know its an older headset and discontinued but would be curious to how much these newer ones compare since that screen/screendooreffect/fov spoiled the hell out of me
I never reviewed it but did have one. The colors and contrast were obviously better on the samsung, screen door is better on the vp2 but was also nice on the Samsung since it had the screen door diffuser thing. sharper image on the vp2 and larger fov. The Samsung also sat on my face funny so it kinda brought it down a bit. Most the modern headset are better than the Samsung odyssey + in most aspects besides the oled screen which was super nice and I miss it
@@ChrisQuitsReality I really appreciate this response. Thank you so much. Not to be a bother but comparably would you say if I got the Index would I miss anything too much about the Odyssey +. I mean the OLED screen is going to be hard to give up Ill be honest haha, but I want to make it definitely feel like Im "upgrading"
@@Spooky_Biscuits it's been awhile since I've been in the Samsung but I know after getting the index I never went back. The oleds are the main thing you will miss but the better tracking, fov, refresh rate etc make up for it. I also don't remember how bad the godrays were but their pretty bad on the index so that may be a thing. If you like the samsung it might also be worth waiting to see if valve reveal anything else new before making a decision.
it honestly depends a lot on the dance I move mine around all the time. I generally keep the feet trackers on my ankles instead of feet and just move my waste tracker around and recalibrate real quick for whatever I need too do. I'm a terrible dancer so don't have a whole lot of experience there
My original vive headset and controllers have lasted me years for $500 on eBay. I don’t plan on getting another until there’s something very innovative for vr
What headset do you recommend I should get? I use oculus quest with link but my headset recently broke I got a replacement from oculus but they forgot to give me my remotes I’m kinda pissed off with their support but I like being wireless. I’m kinda on a budget but I’d like to save for it.
Eww that sucks their support is generally pretty good. If you couldn't tell I do like the index and generally always recommend it. Saving and waiting a bit is a good idea though there may be some other players or an Index 2 sometime in the near future. Besides the index I do really like the Quest 2 with link for a budget option.
@@ChrisQuitsReality Thank you, yeah their support is good I just had a problem with them twice. I was thinking about getting the quest 2 as well and the index in the near future since I have a birthday coming up. Again thank you for the reply I really enjoy your content!
😀 I have the first vive pro and I had to unscrew the VR Headset's headphones and place my computer headset ontop so I don't sound like I'm talking through a toilet paper roll. 😭
Valve won't sell me an Index because I live in Norway, and I'm not getting a Quest because Facebook. That leaves keeping my old Vive, get a Pimax or get a Pro 2. I went with the Pro 2, and I CAN ACTUALLY READ STUFF IN VR! Not that my eyes are bad, but the resolution of the original Vive makes text unreadable unless it's directly in your face. I got one of those thin leather face thingies that brings your face closer to the screen for that FOV, and I gotta say, that little sensor thingy that sticks out in the middle there, it's sharp. My face did not approve. There's this button to adjust the distance to make room for glasses and such, and I need to put that 1 notch out not to have my face stabbed whenever I look up.
It's still worth I know people who are still just now swapping over and are incredibly happy. The risk is something new and better comes out from valve but it will likely not be cheaper and hard to get. Maybe Deca Gear headset can actually be decent too who knows. I've tried about 80% of the headset on the market and it's still my favorite for the moment.
I don't know, man. I just got one the other day. I know it's two years later, but they must have updated it had done something because it's a great headset. Headphones rock the visuals are better than my HP reverb G2V2. I mean, I don't know time's a changing.
For that price it's really disappointing and even using outdated tech like the wmr controllers which really are not great. This headset should've been out way before the Index to have a decent chance. The only interesting vr headset I'm looking for and for a very low and fair price in comparison with the other headsets is Deca Move headset. From what I've seen and read it's exactly what I'm looking for at a price point where I'm comfortable with. I really hope they can deliver what they promised, can't wait for the reviews for that.
We all do that will definitely shake up the industry. If the pro 2 was released like a year ago and for a better price at least and argument could be made for it .
Bro ngl i got my vr headset and was so worried when i saw that i had alot of glare, that i fked somthing up. But it seems like glare is just normal in vr
oh :( i guess ill wait for that index 2 with hopefully wireless support for once... always something... i just want a wireless index it would be the best then i could imagine dancing without a cable but i dont wanna vive pro 2 after seing this at all.
I always wanted to try that one but had a couple wmr headsets in the past and couldn't deal with the tracking. From what I've seen though visually it's a great experience I'm glad you like it!
@@ChrisQuitsReality You can make it work with SteamVR and base station tracking if you use the index controllers, so you don't have to use the inside out tracking
@@titantitties I don't know where it's from I found it in a public one day. It's called "Thiccer than Thiccy" or something like that lol. If you use any vrc mods to search avatars and search some form of "Thicc" it should come up.
I bought a pro 2. Returned it because a) i was getting black screens occasionally, and b) it wasnt THAT much better than the quest 2. Like not 800 more bucks than a quest for a wireless solution better
I'm still using the Pro 1 (one of the last AMOLED headset I think?). I'm glad they didn't stuff an expensive microphone into it since I never use it anyway. Still, they should have included a jack port for people like you who do use one I think I'm going to keep the Pro 1. It's already clear enough. At least for the games that currently exist.
Mate,i am waiting my pro2 tomorrow and yt just threw this as a suggestion.😢 At least i got it for 500 and not the full price so it was 1-1 with index price which is almost always out of stock to buy standalone.
