Vortex just released this rugged and small Red Dot Optic and WE HAVE THEM! Let's start a conversation in the comments! I read every single comment! Thanks for watching! See what else we're up to and MORE: linktr.ee/glockstore
Interesting, because the Humble Marksman sent his Defender back, and Vortex acknowledged that the red dot disappears at about the bottom 1/3 of the window. He made it sound as though there might be a recall. And he was also very excited about the Defender for the reasons you were/are. 🤷♂️
No, the Holosun EPS and EPS Carry are the game changers. This is just another lame, behind the times Vortex. They could have at least offered a green option.
Nice video, Glad to hear you say you are in Tennessee let me know when you are 100% out of california not even a PO box left and I will buy from yall again.
Longer barrel = higher velocity, longer sight radius, and less obvious, can be easier to conceal due to the “keel” principle. A longer gun below the belt can help push the grip in more.
I purchased my G43X a couple of weeks ago. I went to the range today and broke it in with a couple of hundred rounds of ammo. I wish I'd gotten the 43X before my other micro 9's. The 43X shoots better than any of the others for me. I'll be sticking with my 43X from now on.
I have three Glocks and now only carry my G 26 Gen 5 . I have a two round extension on the magazines and is perfect for my little finger . I sometimes carry it with a G17 mag .
@@DietWoke23. I bought a G27 about 25 years ago when my department carried the G22. Eons later, we switched to the G19. All I had to do is get a $120.00 9mm conversion barrel and a standard short 9mm mag for the G27. Two guns in one now. I’d definitely recommend getting the G27 over the G26 if you want that option. I had no problem with the 40 cal round. It came out at the start of my career because of the failures of the 9mm ammo back then. Supposedly, the 9mm ammunition is better now, but that’s an argument for another day. A round that was a little bigger and heavier was ok with me
Hey everyone, purchased this red dot a few months back. Installed to proper torque specs and shot once. Picked up my gun a day later and it did not hold zero. Could've been that particular optic, but I returned it. not sure if anyone else is having issues with theirs.
One thing I have found , the small difference in location, Some of My holsters don't fit with the 1/4" further forward location. Some can be modified, Some can't, just be aware there a difference between Non-MOS. and. MOS holsters. I'm considering changing from HS507k to the New EPS carry which is slightly wider again this effects iwb kydex holsters with the taller inside swet guard . The HS507k is flush to the slide and EPS carry is not , holster companies will have to make new iwb holsters for EPS carry. or you can heat up the kydex and reshape the fit if you know what your doing. The inside leg has to be straight up so it doesn't pinch around the housing for a clean draw stroke up, hope that makes sense.
Excellent video! I just received my defender ccw red dot. I am going to mount it on my new G19 gen 3. I will be using the Dove Adaptive Mounting Soulitions plate. It includes the front suppressor hight fiber optic site to co-witness the rear site cut into the plate. Keep up the great work 👍.
That seems weird at first, but honestly it's probably a bit better for cowitness. I sometimes find when using the backup irons, it's slightly awkward having the rear sight clear as day but the front sight in seen through whatever glare and fingerprints inevitably end up on the glass of the optic. Having all the irons together on the far side of the glass might actually make it a bit easier for the mind to switch over and start doing the iron sight calculations.
Why the 48? 1) longer slide longer barrel= more mass and less felt recoil 2) doesnt change your ccw profile at all because the length is in your pants anyway 3) like you said better sight radius 4) more rifling means better balance in the travel of bullet and higher velocities. That said i carry 43x mos because really none of that matters to me.
After seeing this I wanted it until I heard that Vortex is releasing an entirely updated version 2.0 of their current Optics so I want to see what date are going to offer before I make my choice, I'm kind of holding off for the newest Shield AMS enclosed pistol sight to be released, IM CONFIDENT that it'll become the optic all others are compared against!
Would be perfect if it had a much shorter auto-off. 14 hrs means basically always on if you carry every day and a much shorter battery life compared to HolosunAlso the buttons stick out too far and can be pushed in some holsters.
If you carry everyday it’s going to be on anyway and battery life is still over a year, non issue , also has a lockout feature for the buttons, I’ve never had an issue with my Shadow
I'm able to co witness with a chpws plate, a holosun 407k and factory sights on the 43x mos. Can just barely see to top of the sights but that's good enough.
I carry a Glock 26 Gen3 as an EDC, Can you do a cut on my slide so I can use an optic on my gun ? If you, what would be the cost and turn around ? I want to be able to co witness my standard sights.
Liked the optic but had to send it back. The brightness buttons were being pressed by the guard on my holster which resulted in the brightness of the dot being all over the place and battery life taking a dive.
Good video Sir. But i wanna now if i can use the vortex defenfer in a glock 17mos gen 5 with the factory sight like the glock43 or i need buy high sight ?
@@lpdoc3369 Dude if I click on a video that advertises itself as a video on a red dot then I expect it to be on that red dot. Also won't go into full details here and you probably already stopped reading but there's a LOT more that goes into a dot. Surprising how much you can screw one up.
Vortex Defender would be a good optic if the auto-shutoff was better. With a 14 hpur shutoff time, it never would go off on my G48 which I carry daily and therefore the red dot ate up the battery. I took it off and put it on an occasional use target pistol. Replaced it with a Holosun with an adjustable turnoff time. More better...
I love this channel cause Lenny really does a TON with his 43x and favors it when it comes to the videos! I'm taking applications for a new dad, Lenny? Can I shoot you one via email? shoot. No pun intended.
Wouldn't it be more economical to just buy the slide that is already cut for the optic than send your gun back to have it cut and then be disadvantaged by having a shorter sight radius for the irons?
I’ve seen bad reviews on the Vortex micro dots. The main issue is the dot disappears in the lower portion of the glass. Have you noticed that to be an issue?
@@razorseal From what I understand, the issue arises if you have the elevation adjustment maxed out, it may not be a problem if you’re in the middle of the adjustment range.
I do not like a red dot for every day carry. For the simple fact of keeping it clean I like night sights for a every day carry red dots are great home defense or range shooting. Just my opinion
No the rmsc shield was. Glock cut the slide to RMSC footprint. Any rmsc footprint optic will work but there are filler plates that you can buy that make holosun optics fit as well.
I'm currently having issues with your service, after sending in my slide and purchasing this setup for my G43X I've been told it WILL NOT co-witness with my handgun.....
We are not able to mill down the optic cut as far as the factory MOS due to the reasonings I provide at timestamp 5:25 in this video. We do, however, offer what we call the 'combat cut'; where we blow out the rear dovetail for the rear sight and remill the rear sight in front of the optic cut. This allows us to move the optic cut back and lower it.
@@glockstore I paid the extra 25$ for the combat cut, with this optic for my 43X and I’ve received several emails today stating it doesn’t co-witness like stated in this video…. I have no issue posting my order number to this thread!
@GlockStore who do you recommend in SD that has self-defense weapon classes similar to the real-life scenarios you used to offer before CommieCA drove you away~~ ‽
You have to modify the slide to remove the two back pegs and shorten the front two. We offer that as a service, just search SKU: 9119 on glockstore.com
I've been saying the same thing since its release. The G48 is an incredibly odd gun. I don't see a niche for it. It's like Glock combined the two worst parts of two great guns and made the G48.
Its trash i put it on my hellcat and while shooting the refresh rate makes it hard to rapid fire. Blink blink blink blink sucks i threw away the box before going to the shooting range. Stuck with it now.
I think I'm probably gonna gut my collection of firearms and stick to Glock. Most manufacturer warranties suck and disappear for the slightest of reasons, so may as well have a gun where literally every working part is easily. replaceable.
The Holosun SCS 320 is a closed emitter (Not sure if that's the SCS ur tasking about ) BUT that's the difference & I think the SCS 320 is direct fit as well (on 43xMOS)
Mr. Lemmy, according to the Glock Reference Guide 2nd edition book by Robb Manning, printed by GunDigest,on page 173 it says Canadian law prohibits handguns with a barrel length of 105mm or less, G19 barrel measures 101.89mm in length so Glock went ahead and fixed that with the G48 giving the barrel length of 106.2,thus making it a non-restricted firearm in Canada,it goes on to say that for those of us who are metric-impaired,that's a difference of 0.18 inches....Just thought you might like to know, since you have the Best Glock store in America!
Price is not bad but the Optic still sucks...Holosun has optics around the same price and out perform this one...I bought that Vortex same week it came to market and returned it the following week for a holosun.
Sorry but your video is the only one that says good things about that optic. Too many bad reviews from other creators so I’m going to pass on this optic.
@@americanonstrike6027not they’re not stop saying that’s stupid shit about everything 🤣 regardless it’s not the same as a different optic, regardless of who makes it
