This is really great, I'm sure users of older cars are EAGER to get these updates that Volkswagen was able to perfect now! That is why we have OTAs, right?
Wow, nice intro with drone! Thks for the Heads Up display review. That was the best and most I've seen. (But, keep in mind I haven't been specifically researching or watching RU-vid videos about it either :-)
Hi, Great information on your video - Do you know if this HUD is also the same in the Mk3 Tiguan? with the Augmented reality display? very poor information on the VW web sites. The one i am getting is a PHEV.
You can get the green “car in front” line appear if you tap your acceleration pedal and someone is on front of you. I have disabled the auto lane change since it’s slow, keeps the blinker on, and during the lane change the steering wheel presence sensor is more sensitive.
Very curious to know if you find any bug with 5.0 that you didn't have with the previous other two ID.7 you had in your last video and/or if the bugs you experienced there before are fixed now with 5.0?
I got my ID3 about a month ago and it came with the new infotainment system aswel as this software. I was quite surprised as it was not available when I ordered it. Have to say I’m really impressed by it and the HUD. Love the car!
How does one update to this version? Also, where is this view button? Mine only shows the speed limit, but haven't had enough time to do dive super deep yet.
Great video. Just made me want to get that car even more! 😆 Question: Is it possible to upgrade the software yourself, or do you have to take the car to the auto-shop for that?
what about the older ID7s, my Tesla is getting old, but I won’t change to a car that can’t even update itself while plugged in and connected to WiFi in my garage
Stay with Tesla. I have an Enyaq with older software, was promised battery pre-heating in future OTA updates which never happened, now will have to go to service to get 3.7 update which takes two days, doesn't give any new functionality (no battery pre-heating! And winter is approaching) and many have reported issues with it ranging from new bugs to car getting bricked and stuck in service for weeks. Stay away from VAG EVs. They look nice and the mechanical part is well built but on the software side it is a complete disaster.
I got almost disgusted of VW, not because of their amazing cars, but because of how corrupted and stupid their sellers are. NEVER buying anything from them (at least around where I live)
Well, that looks like an update that should be feasible to implement for cars with 3.x software. Wondering whether VW will go that way or just let old hardware cars die with 3.7.
Lots of good things about this car. Glad the software is better - the previous software was definitely a dealbreaker. In the future, I hope VW ditches the “glued on iPad” integration of the infotainment screen. In therms of exterior design. Loots of good things, but the tail-lights on the id.7 (and all most all current VWs) is just plain ugly… However, love the HUD on this one! Lots of cool features.
If there is no update, I will never buy a vw again. VW deceived me with the ID.4, if it wants to deceive me with the ID.7, let it think very carefully.
@@andrej4128 How did you get deceived? I had 2021 ID3 and that did receive multiple updates that meaningfully made the car better. Also the battery(12v) and the AC lines were replaced with no cost. It would been great to have more features added, but I think there were hardware limitations.
Very glad to see the HUD work with android auto now...let's be honest nobody is using the standard navigation if you can have google maps with satelite view.
Chris, thank you for the useful review, as always. But I can't help but be a little under-impressed with the HUD, and I'm not saying it as a VW hater (in fact, I have recently ordered the ID.7 Tourer). I currently have an Enyaq that is almost 4 years old now and the head-up display looks almost the same. Just about the only thing that is missing on my old Enyaq compared to the ID.7 Tourer is the auto lane change.
Looks like a very very small improvement to me. It still looks very static and if something is adjusted to the reality like it should if you talk about "augmented" reality it still looks very fidgety.
@@BatteryLife My 2019 Kona had one, but it had a small screen that came up above the instrument cluster, and that's what the HUD projected against. It wasn't projecting against the windshield itself. Some people speculate that VW wanted to keep some of these options for Audi only, but they aren't saying so that's only a guess.
