**EDIT #1** Another hotfix has released. Read up on the changes here, forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/132239-game-update-472802/?ct=1627429639 - Jam works on other trees to and will progress them one, growth stage. It also repairs boat leaks!! It's also crop fertilizer I believe! Works on Wormwood too! - Sea Striders seem to only be actually active if fish are nearby their nests or they are disturbed in another way (ramming trees, hitting nests, picking vines). - Sea Striders also ignore meat on the water and boat but not on land. Furthermore, Webbers Webby Whistle doesn't work on their nests currently. - Figs can be used as fishing bait however I didn't really notice what difference it was making so...? - No, Grass Gators cannot be shaved, tamed or anything like that. For now at least. - Player grown, GIANT trees don't seem to grow vines, spawn Grass Gators and generate Sea Strider cocoons. - Again, player grown, GIANT trees will take a long time to achieve as you need to wait out several enriched states to do it. You'll see flowers growing on it after each one and after the third you'll get a big tree! - Again, lightning can rattle canopies so, The End Is Nigh, might be useful now and then and remember that it protects from smoldering so that's interesting! Read up on the update for yourself here, forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/132171-waterlogged-update-beta-open/?ct=1627328445 Check out the first Hotfix for the update here, forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/132185-game-update-472648/?ct=1627391712
I said that at the start, Jake. Again, the boat stuff is self-explanatory and wasn't needing to be shown. People will feel the difference for themselves immediately.
I've always avoided the water until yesterday when I tried it for the first time. I hated how slow it was. Then I saw there was an update coming out with faster boating. I'll have to give it another try.
I hope Klei can add shipwreck boats to dst. Maybe make them slower than the cookie boats with multiple sails, but much more agile to perform some tasks like fighting, mining salt, and picking up things in the ocean. It would be even cooler if the cookie boat can carry a small boat and we can launch it or come back whenever we want.
Boats still need to be and look like, well, boats at some point. We don't need a copy-and-paste situation but what we have is still not flying nowadays. Heck, I called the boats out DAY 1 over two years ago at this point... 😅
I know this is a crazy idea but a multi layered boat would be cool. So theres the main deck and more bottom layers that work simular to hamlet houses or such.
My theory is that figs intentionally aren't worth going out of your way for. Since being under canopies prevents smoldering, I think figs are supposed to serve as a temporary snack during Summer if one chooses to try and sustain a boat base in the Watterlogged biome to survive the season. This is also made more viable as I *believe* the Antlion has no effect on oceans. Plus, Waterlogged biome trees allow you to get wood out on the seas, making the base a little more sustainable. When all is said and done, I don't think it's going to be a meta strategy or even a viable one as boat bases are generally just more work than they're worth and it is really difficult to fit all of your commodities onto boats without other players working multiple boats, and even then you would assumingly be doing this all for just one season so it isn't practical, but having the option is fun I guess.
@@brick5756 cooked ones might be better, but at least you have something to do with it when playing as Warly. Besides trading with PK for only a gold nugget
2 years ago it took 700 days to do everything in the game, now its like 1500. I'm so overwhelmed cause I just started playing again. Gonna be a Long journey
@@minegagadoli doing all the raid bosses, and all the new content is like 300 days at least for the biggest speedrunners, but i mean im just tryna take it nice and slow
Alright my thoughts 1. I am so curious about water logged tree Guardians, if any. 2. Basing around a small water zone and planting one of those trees yourself sounds super cool. I kinds hope they will spawn spider webs and fruits to at least at some challenge. 3. You think the big bad relayed to this update will be something tree related or maybe an alpha gator. 4. Gatoe animation has gotta be a monch animation not a head button. Finally. I really wish they would overhaul food. Honestly taking away large healing and making heal over time, while making healing better would be preferred imho.
Maybe wormwood should be able to befriend grass gator's They'd be like beefalo but can swim Other characters could tame them too but since they run away it would be easier for wormwood
So the pinchin' winch has more use and the Spider God can build an army on the water? Excellent. Now if you plant a BIG TREE near land does the canopy go over it? If so, building bases have just become easier.
Even from just the thumbnail I was excited and it just got better from there. I wonder if this new biome will just sorta be there or if it might wind up important, or at least something from it is to finsihing something or other.
This update is great opportunity for them to make water spider queen one other reason is that they are not all that many bosses that you can fight on the ocean
Hello The Beard, I have something to ask, but it has nothing to do with the content of your last video. You are maybe the only one who can help me about it. I'm playing shipwrecked, and I would like to have a carmorant in my base. The bird trap doesn't work on the water, and the code to spawn this bird seems to be wrong in the wiki of the game. Have you a solution to this ? Many thanks for your videos !!
Still sad they did not add any sort of boat hiarchy. I really think that a driftwood boat that has less health but can go faster, for instance, would really add a lot to the current seafairing mechanics.
I was hoping for a new biome in an update, but I am not so excited about this one... I wasn't a huge fan of sailing, but am glad that boats travel faster now.
@@TheBeard777 Can I get a timestamp, I can't seem to find it for some reason. Edit: Never mind, it was at the end of the recipe section. I must have glossed over it.
Do you know if loading a save from before the update will generate the biom on the unexplored seas? I remembered that was the case with past updates, but I'm not sure about that one.
I feel like grass gators are more like koelafants than beefalo since koelafants can't breed and they run away from the player but they both are similar to beefalo so I'm not sure what to say.
Dude I’m honestly so excited. The ocean content was missing so much before, but now they even brought back the original jungle overlay from the first game. It’s all so much good spirit for DST.
Maybe one day! Still, it would be difficult to go beyond that cause what happens when we're on the back of a Gator and it potentially bucks us off into the ocean?
@@TheBeard777 Good point! This calls for an underwater biome XD If we get bucked off at the right place at the right time, we get teleported to the underwater biome. If we get bucked off elsewhere, we get teleported to the nearest shore with the grass gator, and we lose some health and items.
Tbh I thought the figgy frogwich would have involved a frogwich lol oh also beard does the survivor planted waterlogged trees spawn those water spiders as well?
Grassygators look very bad imo, I would have preferred to get water beefalo in dst. Or even a grassy version, if they want this theme. But generally, the biome look very good ! I love the ambience.
@@TheBeard777 Thanks so much! I just started playing, so this will be my first update :) Love they are adding more to sailing, I think it's one of my favorite parts of this game right now. Just knowing how previous updates happened helps a lot!
Now, this would be fun and all, but making firepits and campfires crashes my game. No crash screen, nothing of that sort - just choppy noise, freeze frame and only half a second later, game closes kind of crash.
Here is a stupid question everybody, if i enter the beta with my old dst world, will the content be implemented in my world? Or do i have to do something?
Your worlds from the main branch will not carry over to the Beta anyways so make note there. When the Beta does fully release however any worlds on the main branch should see the content retrofit into it with no worries.
