It is amazing how NYC has changed since 1941. In 1941, Staten Island/Queens voted for Democrats, while Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn voted for Republicans. Today, it is the opposite. Staten Island votes for Republicans with parts of Queens. Bronx and Brooklyn are strong Democratic strongholds. Manhattan used to competitive due to its wealth, but votes for Democrats now.
No. Maybe in mayoral or local election or in that certain election they voted Republican because local Republicans will adopt New York City values (like he said la guardia was a democratic socialist) but in presidential elections it was heavily democratic. The Republicans have only won manhattan three times in history. 1896, 1908, and 1924. Brooklyn and Bronx are similar
The city went downhill when Deblasio was elected. Both him and Adams have been a disaster. They make the Bloomberg years look like the city’s glory days. As much as I don’t like Bloomberg personally, looking back at his mayorship I have to give him credit for continuing to keep the city safe and growing for the 12 years following 9/11.
@@mybodyisamachine I mean he was ok and he did a good job of keeping crime down. He just got too power hungry. He more or less bought his way to a third term and tried to pass some ridiculous laws like the soda ban.
Interesting that Erica Adams have lowest approval rating since the 1990's. They will probably elect a Democrat again. It's like Argentina before Milei. They never learned. Corruption is part of it of course but the narrow mindedness and intolerance when it comes to alternative views is outstanding imo.
In 2018 New York was at a 10 year low for homicide rate. Why arent you praising him for that? Oh wait I know its cause your a maga sheep and you probably buy your trump bible and believes what he says about "Dumbocrat cities" without question.
Double Stantards? Happened a lot with Liberals in this specific topic, I mean for example in the UK, the only 2 females who get to be PM were Conservative, Scottish National Partt elected also a woman as their leader, somehow Labour still doesn't.
@@MrGared22 I liked to listen to Buckley 's TV show - but I could never figure out what precisely was his ideology. He was well read & well spoken but seemed logically inconsistent
@@sgabig Yeah, those are my thoughts exactly. I was making fun of the fact I never understood what he really meant by those words. (My guess is that he was summarizing what being a reactionary was, but it came off as too bullheaded, Quixote-esque even, which I'm not sure was his intention.)
Lots of resignations throughout NYs history I was so confused by the years I had to look it up, they’re also off the main years which many see as a way to limit participation Fascinating stuff
I must ask, why was the first transition the NYC z flag colors, but the rest where white, red, and green? I thought the first transition was quite clever!
You must be talking about convicted felon Donald Trumps lapdog who worked with him to try to overturn the last election right? It’s been a long downhill slide for the former mayor. Talk about a mess that needs to be cleaned up…
@@ytpremium9462 Then explain how the private sector is responsible for the city’s migrant crisis, high cost of living, high taxes, poor sanitation, and high crime rates.
@@LobotomizeCommies10 migrant crisis and crime rates are overblown by the media, rich people are pricing out normal people, city income tax is necessary to keep the city running.
