The Meater Plus, followed by the Meater Block, taught me that any of these without WiFi is worthless. I'm not even saying whether this one has it or not, I'm just saying it's worthless if it doesn't. That new Meater 2 looks good, but I'm not even remotely interested in it until they come out with a Block version, which they said will be late 2024. No idea why putting out the Block version takes an extra year, that's pretty dumb. You also need a wired setup like the Fireboard anyway, as you can't use these wireless probes in certain cuts of meat (like bone-in chicken thighs), as the depth you have to insert them just means they simply won't work.

This one is wireless and they have a mini probe that will work fine in small cuts of meat. New MEATER Block will prob be twice the price. They are doing that so people will buy both. I’ll only fall for that once :) 🍻

I agree. I have thermometers with wifi and with just bluetooth . . . and in my opinion, there is NO reason to buy one without wifi, you're just setting yourself up for frustration. This ChefsTemp has wifi, so it's covered on that front.

Good looking product, but who is to say which is the best? there are many out there , I have 3 of them ( you know I like my toys ), and honestly, they all are the same. Just my opinion

Always a tough call. I think it comes down to price point vs functionality. Only time will tell, but I’m going to put it through the paces and see what happens. 🍻

I love the new wireless probes and thermometer unit. Did you have to calibrate off screen or are they just ready to go out of the box. What was the brand and particular model of pan you were using there? Funny, I used to cook steaks this way when I was young and dumb and didn't have a bbq or a clue on how to cook really. I'd throw a steak into a cold cast iron pan, dump some steak spice on it, crank the burner to high and flip every two minutes until it seemed to be done. I got pretty good at searing a medium rare steak this way. NO dry brine or special treatment and no meat thermometer back then either. What exactly does the dry brine do for the steak and how does it improve the flavor and texture of the finished product?

No calibration needed. I showed every step except for the password and my last name. Just edited it for time purposes. That’s a HexClad 12” pan. So far I like them, but they get way hotter and faster than I’m used to. Still getting used to them. Sounds like you were ahead of your time! 😁 Dry brine gets the salt into the middle of the meat vs just outside. You end up with a much more flavorful piece of meat. 🍻
